Adam Garner's journey from high school to higher education was a testament to second chances. “I've had a weird and winding career,” said Adam. “The thread that ties it all together though is that I’ve intentionally tried to find places where I could work on hard pressing problems without simple answers. Studying philosophy, and specifically the early thinking I did in spaces like Professor Roterts ethics courses, taught me how to do that. Presuming that answers will not be obvious and that to get anything close to an answer you have to learn how to ask really good questions are key tools that I use every single day.” “I’m where I am because of RVC,” continued Adam. “It was such an important home for me on campus. I finally made a set of intaglio prints of my “gulls and snake plate” started a year ago in Matt Vincent’s printmaking class at Rock Valley College. The first print is one color blue; the second in blue with a light over roll of green with white areas wiped with a q-tip. I witnessed this aerial dual in 1985. One gull had a snake in its bill and the other was trying to wrest it away. They were swooping and cartwheeling through the air—one gull chasing the other.
