If you live in the east end of Toronto near the beach, you might have caught sight of the foxes who are living under the boardwalk. They are a beautiful red colour, which means I may be experimenting with different inks for this block. A little bit late, here is my print submitted for the 1st week #blockpartywithgina challenge organized by @ridgeandroots. The prompt was ‘earth + natural’ world. I was inspired by the work of the great photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti and especially this picture of Belinda and her goat Rosita. I am totally in love with the work of this photographer, especially the work on two cousins who have grown in a farm (just like the photographer herself and just like me!🐄 😊) in Argentina. For this challenge, I finally choose to mix medium : I painted the moon with watercolor and the girl and goats were handprinted with ink.
Work still in progress 😆 for #blockpartywithgina challenge and this week 1! This is my inked block and as you can see, I am currently struggling with my material and need to change some as quick as possible. I have issues with my brayers, inking process ans so on. So this is a big fail, but I like the imperfection of this result though, especially the night sky with the capricorn constellation. 💫 Wanted to share my difficulties too during this process. Anyway I do not intend to give up. 💪🏻 I will buy a new brayer and probably ink, and will try again and again until the result is fully satisfying (according my own scale 😬). By the way, I am welcoming any tips regarding brayers quality and brands. A tree has grown and the print is now finished and unique. I made it for a friend and customized it with the latitude and longitude of her « home sweet home ». Home has always been an inspirational topic to me, as well as travels ! PS: It is not easy to picture the metallic golden touch...I think that it is always a challenge to picture metallic aspect (which I made out of #schminckeink).
Work in progress : I added a touch of gold ink because I find it nice combined with ink blue. What I like in linoprinting process is the imperfection and texture variations making every piece unique.
After drawing, carving the block, inking, comes the printing /pressing step. How I love this big reveal step ! I printed a serie of 4 of these so far.
