Have you ever seen a Thorny Devil in the wild? Also known as Moloch horridus, the Thorny Devil is a harmless, slow-moving anteater with spiny orange, yellow and black skin, that can change colour to blend into its surrounds. As the @saaridlands wrote in a recent post, these fascinating creatures are covered in thorny spines and also have a pretend head on the backs of their necks, which they use to fool and fend off unwanted attention from predators. How fascinating is that! The Thorny Devil’s spikes have another important function – helping them stay hydrated in the dry, sandy country where they live. The devils rub their bodies against morning dew drops on spinifex so that the moisture can run along grooves between the spikes, directly into their mouths. The Board's new Kingoonya and Marla-Oodnadatta Landscape Officer Tori was excited to encounter one of these fascinating little reptiles while travelling through the region recently and stopped to snap these terrific pictures. Еще мы с заказчиком думали о том, чтобы разместить кухню с островом 🤔 Что же в итоге у нас получилось? Мы все-таки решились на прямую кухню, но с большим столом на фоне окна. Придумали конструкции под телевизор (см. в карусели). В ванной сделали большую столешницу с раковиной, переходящую в ГКК с инсталляцией. ❇️Gaviota reidora❇️ El otro día la Albufera era una nube de gaviotas reidoras. Fue todo un espectáculo verlas en acción. Algunas nadaban tranquilas, otras se acicalaban las plumitas, otras descansaban en tierra, y de repente, algo imperceptible para nosotros las hacía alzar el vuelo a la vez, formando un torbellino en el aire que te dejaba estupefacto 😲 Vamos, un show. Eso sí, escandaloso de lo lindo 😅 (en la historia pongo un vídeo para que podáis comprobarlo vosotros mismos). La capucha marrón chocolate de su cabecita indica que se encuentran en época reproductora, de hecho, fuera de esta época se queda reducida a una manchita pequeña en la zona auricular haciendo que parezca otra gaviota diferente. Tiere und Pflanzen zeigen von Siri ungefragt interpretiert, identifiziert und als Fakt ausgegeben werden. Wenn man ChatGBT fragt, warum die Bilderkennung nicht mit einem Wahrscheinlichkeitsfaktor ausgegeben wird, erhält man folgende Antwort: „Wenn Siri ein Objekt identifiziert, geht Apple davon aus, dass die Genauigkeit hoch genug ist, um dem Benutzer eine zuverlässige Antwort zu liefern. Durch das Anzeigen von Wahrscheinlichkeitswerten könnte der Benutzer möglicherweise verwirrt werden oder unnötig skeptisch sein, selbst wenn die Identifikation korrekt ist.“ Resumée: Anhand der Ergebnisse wäre ein bisschen Bescheidenheit angebracht. Titan Acorn Barnacles🐚 These super cool, unique, and beautiful barnacles make such inspiring and perfect vessels for my Flora & Fauna art! I currently have two of these special pieces, one slightly larger than the other, and both adorned in various whimsical dried florals, found & foraged seashells, and collected nature bits to honor the profound connection between land and sea. All bones (and barnacles in this case!) used in these pieces were ethically-sourced. Tetipu Tarakonas Identification: Tarakona Whapodylus. Element: Flora. Dlvl: 33. Social Unit: Reclusive. Diet: Water, sunlight, meat. Habitat: Rainforests, wetlands. Status: Rare. A species of predatory plants belonging to the most deadly and aggressive families of carnivorous flora-fauna. The tetipu, wauan for timid-toed, species of Tarakonas are one of the most ambulatory and swiftest of Tarakona plants. Having evolved to an odd serpentine/worm-like form with four, thin, needle-like appendages to walk on, Tetipu Tarakonas are one of the fastest and most unpredictable carnivorous plants that stalk the shadows of the rainforests. Tetipu Tarakonas move their bodies in quick, swaying, skittering bursts of energy to confuse prey and predator. Inside the Tetipu Tarakona’s stomach-like body, is a pool of highly acidic, burning, digestive juices that quickly break apart small prey, like rodents and insects. But larger prey usually needs to get broken down limb by limb to be digested, and that is where the “mouth” of the Tetipu comes into use. Each leaf of the Tetipu houses rows and rows of razor-sharp, serrated thorns that act like teeth, or fangs, for the Tetipu. Clamping down on limbs, the Tetipu rips and tears apart the meat, while its digestive juices leak out and quickly burn the flesh to be digested further. Their mouth also hides a prehensile, proboscis-like, appendage that serves multiple functions of the Tetipu Tarakona. Firstly, it is a defensive mechanism that can be used to attack prey and predators, constantly coated in its own digestive juices when tucked away inside the mouth, this proboscis can be whipped around to burn and boil away the skin of anything the juices touch. Secondly, the proboscis also helps the Tetipu “see.” Like a snake using its tongue to sense, Tetipus constantly flick their tongues in and out to sense movement and the air around them, identifying their environment and prey. Normally, these are rare and elusive predators to face, sticking to the shadows of the jungle that hide them. It is more likely a Tetipu Tarakona will see you before you see them, but it may be too late before you notice the boiling sting of its acidic juices.
