UP’s Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department celebrated this achievement by giving the slogan ‘Har Ghar Jal, 75 Lakh Nal’. 75 engineers, officers and employees of the department were praised for spreading the scheme to every village, and they were honoured with mementoes. Many cultural events were held at the ceremony, including the screening of the film ‘Har Ghar Pani Khud Nigrani’. UP’s Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh was the chief guest at the event, and his cabinet colleague Ramkesh Nishad was the special guest. Singh said that the officials worked tirelessly to reach the target of 75 lakh installations, even though the possibility to achieve this seemed bleak in the beginning. He added that the villagers also cooperated with them, and the officials were ensuring an uninterrupted water supply. The food security situation in Ukraine has deteriorated rapidly due to the war. FAO's recent nationwide assessment has revealed that 25% of 5200 respondents have reduced or stopped agricultural production due to the war. According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5 data), 82.7% of married women in the state of Karnataka participate in household decision-making. Himachal Pradesh is on its way to achieve the target of providing clean tap water supply to every rural household by 2024. In its press release, the government said that the centre is providing complete assistance to reach its target of delivering tap water connections to each and every individual of the state. Appreciating the progress, Vini Mahajan, Secretary Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) said that the 'central government's Jal Jeevan Mission' is a decentralised, demand-driven, community-managed water supply scheme that aims to improve the lives of rural people by providing clean tap water #supply to every home. She appreciated the excellent work undertaken in the Himalayan state and time-to-time campaigns launched by the state government. "The efforts have helped in community engagement and public sensitisation on judicious use of water and its conservation to ensure its regular supply with adequate pressure," she said. In a push for clean energy and waste management, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED), in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, the Department of Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation, and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), is training 18,000 rural women from Karnataka's SHGs (Self Help Groups) in various aspects such as solid waste management and solar energy utilisation in rural areas.
