When energy transition goes hand in hand with environmental disaster... Electric vehicles are vaunted in the West as being ecological and more respectful of the environment. But are they really? In addition to the traditional materials used to build a vehicle, nickel is needed to produce the battery. Today, this material is extracted mainly in Indonesia, which has become the world leader in production. While the island of Halmahera has recently been in the spotlight through various articles in @lemondefr @vakitamedia @canopee.asso and others, because of the mining project led by the French mining company Eramet, Sulawesi is in fact the territory that is most threatened by nickel mines today. According to data from ESDM (the Indonesian Ministry of Mines), in 2020 the surface area of mining concessions authorized for exploration and production reached 852,674.9 hectares, of which 587,128.1 ha (69%) are in Sulawesi. In the province or region of Sulawesi Tenggara (the island’s south-eastern area) alone, concessions granted for nickel mining cover 265,744.3 hectares. La produzione italiana netta di energia è stata pari a 20,7 miliardi di kWh. Bene le rinnovabile che hanno coperto il 41,8% del fabbisogno (33% a marzo 2023).
Il clamore suscitato dal documentario di Giulia Innocenzi "Food for Profit" riporta l'attenzione su come orientare i nostri consumi in modo da influenzare il mercato e di conseguenza gli allevatori. Nello specifico, se non si può, o non si riesce a seguire una dieta vegetariana, come si possono scegliere carni da allevamenti in cui è tutelato il benesere degli animali? Le etichette possono aiutarci in questo senso? La legge di riferimento per l'etichettatura di tutti gli alimenti che sono venduti confezionati, in un imballaggio sigillato, è il regolamento dell'Unione Europea 1169 del 2011. In Italia, il decreto ministeriale del 30 novembre 2022, che sostituisce il decreto del 4 marzo 2011 sulla regolamentazione del Sistema di qualità nazionale zootecnica, a sua volta riferito al regolamento Ue 1974 del 2006 autorizza a inserire sull'etichetta la dicitura che gli alimenti derivano da pratiche virtuose in termini di benessere animale. Pur se c'è il decreto, tuttavia, mancano enti certificatori autorizzati a rilasciare un bollino di qualità e un disciplinare che stabilisca i requisiti per la certificazione. In mancanza di informazioni specifiche sul benessere degli animali negli allevamenti bisogna perciò limitarsi alle etichette attuali e Michele Antonio Fino, professore associato di Fondamenti del Diritto europeo nell'Università di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo (CN), aiuta a comprendere quali informazioni ricaviamo dalle etichette attuali. 【ゴミ拾いマーチin因島 4月】 良いお天気の中、ビーチをゴミ拾い！ 汗ばみながら海沿いで体を動かすのは気持ちが良いものです☺️ 気候が良くなったからか、外で食事をしたような跡が散見💦 ペットボトルやビン缶など、飲み物のゴミがいつも以上にあったように思います。 ただ、洞窟のような場所がゴミ溜まりになるのですが、今日はそこのゴミがかなり回収されていてビックリ👀 企業や個人でも清掃活動されている方々もいるので、そのおかげかもしれません☺️ 私たちの活動も、月一という頻度ながらも4年目になりましたが、もっとずっと前から習慣のように清掃してくれている方々もいらっしゃると思います。 本当に感謝ですね。 この日はタイヤも回収してクリーンセンターに持ち込みましたが、やはり引き取ってもらえませんでした。 (タイヤの処分は自治体回収出来ないため、販売店やガソリンスタンド、回収業者への依頼が必要になり、費用がかかります。) 捨てられていたものを拾った側が費用を払って処分をしなければならない現状。 色々おかしな話ですね。 先日はゼロウェイスト宣言で有名な徳島県上勝町のゼロウェイストセンターに視察に行き、ゴミ処理に関して様々なことを学ぶ機会になりましたので、改めてそちらの投稿もしようと思います。 来月は因島大橋記念公園で、草刈りしよー！と意気込んでます💨💨 ゴミ拾いマーチin因島は、毎月第4日曜日に開催しています。 来月も晴れますように！☀️ #地球を守ろう #全国同時開催 #ゴミ拾い #ゴミ拾いマーチ #気候変動 #気候危機 #生物多様性の危機 #温暖化 #今できること #1人の100歩より100人の1歩 #尾道から1歩 ←我が町の名前で(以下同。市町村、都道府県もぜひ！） #因島から1歩 #尾道 #広島 #earthcleanup #climatechange #climatemarch #climatecrisis #savetheearth

These forests cover 52% of global forested land and store 70% of the carbon in forests worldwide. They play a vital role in local to global climate regulation. —Source: @IPBES_ #GlobalAssessment [2] However, these precious ecosystems are under threat. Tropical forest area has declined significantly from 1990-2015, with the highest losses in South America and Africa.🌎🌍 The main drivers are land-use change, particularly large-scale commercial agriculture, local subsistence agriculture, urban expansion, infrastructure, and mining.[2] Forest degradation, driven mainly by timber and logging, fuelwood/charcoal harvesting, fires, and urban expansion, is also a major concern.[2] The removal of large, old trees and woody debris during clear-cutting leads to declines of many species that can take decades or even centuries to recover.[1] Deforestation and forest degradation disrupt weather patterns, creating hotter and drier conditions that increase drought, crop failures, and displacement of ecosystems. They reduce evapotranspiration, infiltration rates, and water-holding capacities, leading to increased runoff, erosion, and reduced water supply.[1] Protecting and restoring tropical and subtropical forests is crucial for biodiversity, climate, and communities that depend on these ecosystems.
