So, Threads is the new big thing! Should you be using it for your brand? Should you be worried/excited about the new platform? I'll be honest, I haven't had this much fun on a new app in, well, forever. It's old school social media vibes. I'm reconnecting with people I've long lost contact with - due to algos, content preferences, platform saturation, and a handful of other valid reasons. The app is basically Twitter. Text updates with options to add photos or videos (up to 5 minutes in length). Text can be 500 characters which is better than Twitter but still short (well, for me lol). But it's not about the long-winded updates like I do here or on Facebook. So the short limit is totally workable. I've had a few members of Profit Your Profile and a handful of others ask me if they "NEED" to be on Threads. And no, you don't. You don't NEED to be anywhere. It's still too early to know what the demographic will be and how users will really utilize the platform. With all the IG users moving over, that'll put the demo mostly in the 30-55 age range, but it'll likely skew to the older millennials and Gen Xers cuz we "grew up" on the old school Twitter and are thirsty for this type of platform. So, if that works for your brand, then it's worth considering implementing it. But give it time. Explore. Chat with people. See how people are interacting and what resonates with you. If adding another content strategy to your workload is overwhelming, then don't. Or find a place where you can scale back the content to allocate time on Threads. This new platform doesn't have to become a stressor about another thing to add to your already overloaded obligations. Now, all that said, I do highly recommend you get over there and set up your profile, secure your username, and have it ready for if/when you decide to dive deeper.
