Bändi on jyrännyt jo 30 vuotta. Kun itse tulin 20 vuotta sitten Gentiin asuin ensimmäisen kesän Annen luona, joka taas asui tämän bändin yhden kitaristin yläkerrassa. Viime lauantain keikka oli mahtava, laitan lisää siitä myöhemmin. St Bavo’s Cathedral is the oldest parish church in the lively heart of Ghent. It stands on the site of a 10th century church and a 12th century Romanesque church. The latter was dedicated to St John the Baptist. In the Middle Ages, Ghent was a rich and powerful city that had the means to commission ever-larger and more opulent churches. Some random snapshots from the Saint-Bavon's Cathedral (Sint-Baafskathedraal). The church was originally a parish church dedicated to John the Baptist. In 942, Transmar, the bishop of Tournai, came to consecrate the church as St. John's Church. Emperor Charles V wanted to teach rebellious Ghent a lesson by having the rebels walk through the city one after the other with a noose around their necks (the noose bearers) and in nightgown. He wanted to keep Ghent under control forever by erecting the Spaniards Castle on the site of St. Bavo's Abbey (located right next to the confluence of the Leie and the Scheldt). As a result, the canons of Sint-Baafs were obliged to move to another chapter place, which they found in the Sint-Janskerk in 1539. The church became a collegiate church and was henceforth known as St. Bavo's Church. During the episcopal reorganization of the Netherlands/Low Countries in 1559, the diocese of Ghent was established; St. Bavo's Church was elevated to a cathedral. Voor de tweede keer Het Lam Gods van de gebroeders van Eyck bewonderd. Het onderste deel is inmiddels gerestaureerd. Ongelofelijk zo mooi en fris als de kleuren zijn. Het veelluik stamt tenslotte uit 1432. Elk afzonderlijk detail is minutieus geschilderd, elk grassprietje, bloemetje of haar is zichtbaar. De gezichtsuitdrukkingen zijn fantastisch en let op de voet van Adam die net buiten de lijst lijkt te stappen foto 5. In het Museum van schone kunsten (MSK) worden de bovenste panelen gerestaureerd, door de weeks te bekijken. Dankzij onderzoek blijken de onderste panelen door Hubert van Eyck te zijn gemaakt en de bovenste door Jan na de dood van zijn broer. Het paneel linksonder wordt overigens nooit gerestaureerd, omdat dit niet origineel is. Dit paneel is ooit gestolen en nooit teruggevonden.
