Sweet Zoe was such a good girl today. Mamas started off very full of herself but quickly realized I wasn’t feeling my best and became more quiet and gentle than I’ve ever seen her. And that’s saying something considering even when she’s sassy she’s gentler than most horses I’ve handled. We got in an incredibly productive round pen session with much quicker and soft transitions up and down, as well as more consistency turning in to change direction. Well, what an amazing job this was. A timber Lisa and I had never worked with before, Beech. At first, it didn't look much, but once we got that old finish off it came to life. Showing off all the different grain and patterns. It was a huge expanse of flooring, coming in at 215 M2... or, for those in the United States, a whopping 2317 sqft. The matte finish really gives us a chance to see all the grain, as it just pops in the sunlight. The owner here was brilliant to work with, and he just let us get along with doing our thing without interference. That makes it so much easier. New nickname unlocked, just call me Thrasher!🦈 I don't know what my deal is, but my brain and my limbs just aren't communicating. I basically forgot how to swim competitively or gracefully for that matter. I knew something felt off so I decided to record my stroke for objective feedback. Subjectively, my stroke didn't feel TOO bad...then I saw the video. 💀🤣 Videos can be really helpful in assessing your form when you don't have a trainer because it gives you objective visual feedback on how you're performing a movement. If you watch across the three videos you'll see my stroke slightly improve with each successive attempt and become slightly less thrashy. If you listen, you can even hear the difference. 😂 With that said, today was pretty neat in that I didn't only have my own objective feedback, but I also had the subjective feedback of a 70+ year old woman who asked me if I was okay after I finished my lap 😂🤣🥲 After assuring her I had swam before, she commented on my "speed" and suggested I slow down and enjoy it. "What's the point if you aren't enjoying it?" she asked. She was right so I slowed everything down and as I did...my enjoyment increased and my form improved. Overall my form still looks pretty questionable but I'll take it. How's this for a challenge...we only have 3 millimetres of actual timber to work with, and to compound that we have to sand off a tough as nails aluminium oxide finish that was factory sprayed onto these engineered boards, when they were made in Thailand, way back in 1998....then, adding to that, the timber is Beech which is about on a par with Balsa Wood, as far as hardness goes. So, we need to be aggressive enough with the sanding to swiftly remove the old, hard finish, and then we need to be caring and gentle as we caress the boards to a superfine finish. Mobility is a characteristic you actively cultivate and maintain through your life, or don’t… Even if 30 day split programs worked or doing a few cossack squats resulted in chair splits, you would still need to keep doing whatever got you there indefinitely, or the splits are going to go away. The same goes for strength, power, coordination, etc. The answer to this is keeping good variety in training through different stages where we can drive adaptation, but span characteristics in a way that supports the total picture and builds a body that can do more whenever we ask it to. 1-1 coaching application is available at the link in my bio. This principle ’slow is smooth, smooth is fast’ seems like a contradiction but when applied, it encourages a maintaining a rhythm that will then lead to increased efficiency. When we rush instead of going slowly, the frontal cortex of the brain becomes overloaded. This then leads to errors, finishes creativity and burnout. If we go slowly into our projects the brain has time to fully engage which leads to robust neural connections (pings in the brain, if you like). When we have robust neural connections, we are more likely to reach our goals with a product we can be proud of. ⭐️⭐️⭐️SoCal Runner and WAHOO! Running Athlete Spotlight⭐️⭐️⭐️ It's a busy weekend for the @so_cal_runner and @wahoorun athletes, covering all kinds of distances. In no particular order. @snev1012 is taking on the OKC Half Marathon. She has pushed through some adversity during this training block, persevered and has put it all into her training. I'm excited to see her celebrate her training with a lot of our @wahoorun teammates. @tonisteinberger will be running the Eugene Half Marathon this weekend. She is coming back from an injury, trusted the process and has been dedicated to training regardless of her schedule. I am impressed with the amount of speed work she's done while pushing a stroller, the half should feel like a breeze 🙌. @mikeelkins6963 is running ths Mission Viejo 10k as part of a relay team for the triathlon. He's coming off his 48 hour run in April and will be using this as speed work for his upcoming 24 hour run at the Nanny Goat. His team is looking to keep their crown as the #1 relay team. @ryan_patrick_lemley is running the second portion of the Rim to River trifecta (50k, 100k, and 100 mile distances). He is heading to the trails for the Falling Water 100k. Ryan has been getting consistent with his training even through travel with work and a ton of other commitments. Putting in miles of treadmill hikes, rucks, and trail runs. I'm excited for all my athletes this weekend and love seeing everyone get to celebrate their training and hard work. Been living in a dream for a year now. A dream filled with amazing memories, otherworldly experiences, taco’s, huts in high places (photos 5, 7 & 8, it’s the same one, French Ridge), incredible people, quizzes and epic missions in the mountains…including a recent rather spontaneous mad Lord of the Rings style quest (photos 1-3 courtesy of @rionabray) I’ve done far more in the last year than I have in the last 6 and nothing would’ve happened if I didn’t take the opportunity or make the decision to move my life 18,000km across the world. I feel different. I feel happier, more confident, more positive albeit maybe not wiser, I do still talk shite. Hands down though, this is the best decision I have ever made! 😊

Ember arrived just a few days ago, but she’s already made a big impression on everyone. Her history is mostly unknown, but she’s the only feline survivor of a fire that claimed seven of her brothers and sisters. Miraculously, and despite being completely covered in ash and soot, she had no injuries and her lungs showed no signs of damage. Since the fire, Ember has been unable to integrate into a permanent home even though best efforts have been made. She’s a gentle and loving lady who absolutely loves getting pets and scratches, but she’s had a tough time finding a new feline family that she feels comfortable to be around. Ember is a survivor and One of The Brave.
