- The Neuroplasticity of Language Acquisition Unlocking the Brain's Potential Neuroplasticity is a foundational concept in neuroscience that highlights the brain's remarkable adaptability. It refers to the brain's ability to reorganize its neural pathways by forming new connections and altering existing ones throughout an individual's life. This process allows the brain to adapt to changes in the environment, learn new skills, recover from injuries, and compensate for damage. Essentially, neuroplasticity enables the brain to continually reshape itself in response to experiences, learning, and environmental stimuli. In the realm of language acquisition, neuroplasticity is instrumental in shaping how individuals acquire and maintain proficiency in languages. It enables the brain to adapt and reconfigure its neural connections in response to linguistic input and practice. Through neuroplasticity, individuals can enhance their language learning capabilities, improve comprehension, and retain linguistic knowledge more effectively over time. This underscores the dynamic nature of language acquisition and highlights the brain's capacity for continuous learning and adaptation... ... Psychedelics, such as LSD and psilocin (from psilocybin in "magic mushrooms"), cross the blood-brain barrier to target serotonin receptors, enhancing sensory perception and inducing hallucinations. This can lead to synesthesia, where senses overlap, like seeing sounds or hearing colors. These substances are psychoplastogens, which promote neural plasticity, allowing brain cells to reshape and form new connections. This process, likened to a tree rapidly growing new branches, enables novel synapses between neurons, supporting the brain's structural and functional restoration after damage. #Psychedelics #Neuroplasticity #LSD #Psilocybin #MagicMushrooms #SerotoninReceptors #Hallucinations #Synesthesia #BrainHealth #MentalHealth #Neuroscience #NeuralConnections #Psychoplastogens #MindMolding #BrainPlasticity #NeuroRegeneration #Dendrites #NeuralPathways #InVivoStudies #neuralrestoration

This principle ’slow is smooth, smooth is fast’ seems like a contradiction but when applied, it encourages a maintaining a rhythm that will then lead to increased efficiency. When we rush instead of going slowly, the frontal cortex of the brain becomes overloaded. This then leads to errors, finishes creativity and burnout. If we go slowly into our projects the brain has time to fully engage which leads to robust neural connections (pings in the brain, if you like). When we have robust neural connections, we are more likely to reach our goals with a product we can be proud of. The nervous system of a child is a complex and fascinating part of their development. Here are some facts about a child’s nervous system:🧠 1. **Rapid Growth**: A child’s nervous system undergoes rapid growth especially in the first few years of life. The brain reaches about 95% of its adult size by the age of six. 2. **Neuroplasticity**: Children have a high level of neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to form new neural connections. This ability allows them to recover from injuries to the nervous system more effectively than adults. 3. **Synaptic Pruning**: As children grow, their brains go through a process called synaptic pruning, where the brain eliminates excess synapses, strengthening the more frequently used connections. 4. **Critical Periods**: There are critical periods in childhood when the nervous system is particularly ready to develop certain abilities, such as language and vision. 5. **Sensory Integration**: A child’s nervous system is responsible for sensory integration, which is the process by which the brain organizes and interprets sensory information from different modalities. 🧠 #ChildNervousSystem #Neuroplasticity #BrainDevelopment #SynapticPruning #PediatricNeurology #ChildhoodGrowth #EarlyBrainGrowth #NeuralConnections #CriticalPeriods #SensoryIntegration #Myelination #ChildReflexes #MotorSkillsDevelopment #EmotionalRegulation #KidsHealth #Neuroscience #ChildDevelopment #EarlyLearning #CognitiveGrowth #BrainHealth #NeuroDevelopment #HealthyKids #DevelopmentalMilestones #ChildBrainHealth #Pediatrics #NeurologicalGrowth #BrainScience #InfantDevelopment #ToddlerBrain

Synapse and Memory Synapse is the place where nerve cells connect and communicate with each other. Each nerve cell has anywhere between a few to hundreds of thousands of synaptic connections, and these connections can be with itself, neighboring cells, or cells in other regions of the brain. Synapses allow communication between them and make it possible to create and recall memories. Throughout our lives, we continually lose and re-grow these important brain connections. In a healthy brain the number of new synapses balances the loss of old ones, allowing for a sustained net number of synapses. One of the earliest damages in Alzheimer’s disease is a reduction in the number of synapses." 🌐 www.drdomenicopratico.com | www.thepraticolab.com 📚 https://lnkd.in/ePYMYRWn 🧠 https://lnkd.in/eJjn_Shz 🐦 https://lnkd.in/e-NvsgBK 🖋️ https://lnkd.in/ecVzXE8D #synapse #memory #neuroscience #brainhealth #neuralconnections #memoryformation #brainfunction #neuroplasticity #praticolab #alzheimersresearch #alzheimers #alzheimersawareness #domenicopratico

“Walking outdoors offers natural messages to children’s feet as they walk on different-sized pebbles and uneven ground. The resistance and inconsistency nature offers integrates reflexes in the foot and forms strong arches. Going barefoot out in nature helps to develop normal gait patterns, balance and tolerance of touch in the feet, all of which provide a strong foundation for confident and fluid movement.” ~ Angela Hanscom Wearing shoes affects everything from our gait and posture and foot development to the strength of our foot's arch. Scientific evidence suggests that flat feet are far more common in children who usually wear shoes, than those who don’t. The critical period for the development of the arch is before age six. This means that walking barefoot is especially important during early childhood. But it's not just about children's feet — barefoot play affects brain development too. Walking barefoot can: Improve motor skills, prevent injuries, strengthen children's feet, and build new neural connections. Going barefoot stimulates thousands of nerve endings in the feet and activates the vestibular and proprioceptive systems in children's brains. This helps children orient their bodies in space and develop skills like balance and coordination. #balancedandbarefoot #angelahanscom #childrencan #letthembe #barefooted #barefootplay #neuralconnections #noshoes #noshoesnoproblem #ece #eceportstephens #ecenewcastle #ecehunter #ect #earlyyearseducation #earlyyearslearning #braindevelopment #

We love to help shape children’s brains as we sing and play and move with them in class. Did you know that in the first three years of life their brains develop trillions of neural connections, all determined by their experiences? When we give our children musical experiences—as we do in class and at home—their brains are developing the musical wiring and circuitry that will help enable them to be musical for the rest of their lives. The tricky thing is that their brains will drop any connections that aren’t stimulated over and over again – it’s the ‘use it or lose it’ thing! So keep making music as much as possible—in the kitchen, in the bathtub, at the park, in the car—to keep those musical pathways going! #neuralconnections #useitorloseit #makemusictogether #musictogetherrocketcity

🧠💡 Did you know that every time you get emotionally involved with an idea, you are actually building new neural connections in your brain? It's true! Our emotions play a powerful role in shaping our thoughts and actions, and they have a direct impact on our brain's ability to learn and adapt. 🌟 I've always been fascinated by the intersection of emotions and cognition, and how they work together to drive our creativity and innovation. When we feel passionate or inspired about an idea, our brain releases neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which help to strengthen the connections between brain cells and enhance our ability to think creatively. 🔥 So, the next time you find yourself getting emotionally invested in a project or a new concept, remember that you are not just feeling the "feels" - you are literally rewiring your brain for success! Embrace that emotional connection and let it fuel your creativity and drive to push boundaries. #brainstorm #brainstorming #ideas #idea #thoughts #neuralconnections #actions #emotions #learn #adapt #cognition #creativity #innovation #passionate #dopamine #seratonin #braincells #rewirethebrain #sucess #mystic #whispersofwisdom #rosebudbeijaflor #spiritualalchemist

Emotional Regulation is the ability to Manage your feelings and not let them control you. It is having the tools to stay calm and handle your emotions and reactions in a healthy way. Here are a few ways to work on developing this in yourself or your children. ✨Practicing mindfulness meditation can help increase self-awareness and enable individuals to observe their emotions without reacting impulsively. ✨This involves challenging and reframing negative thoughts or beliefs that contribute to emotional distress - as soon as a negative thought enters your mind, flip it to a positive thought. ✨Engaging in relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, or visualization can help reduce physiological arousal and promote a sense of calmness. ✨Building a strong support network of friends, family, or therapists can provide validation, perspective, and guidance during challenging times, helping to regulate emotions effectively. ✨Regular exercise, adequate sleep, balanced nutrition, and stress management techniques can contribute to overall emotional well-being, making it easier to regulate emotions in daily life. Just a little brain science… because understanding how executive function skills develop helps us to grow both metacognition and cognitive flexibility! The prefrontal cortex is a region of the brain responsible for executive function skills, which are mental processes that help individuals plan, organize, regulate behavior, solve problems, and achieve goals. This part of the brain undergoes significant development during childhood and adolescence, playing a crucial role in shaping cognitive abilities and decision-making processes. Dysfunction or immaturity in the prefrontal cortex can lead to difficulties in executive function skills, impacting various aspects of daily life, including academic performance, social interactions, and emotional regulation. Therefore, understanding the role of the prefrontal cortex is essential for comprehending how executive function skills develop and how they can be supported through interventions and strategies. 🌳🧗‍♂️ Do you see more risks or more benefits? These two children are experts at climbing trees, doing so safely and consciously. They are closely supervised, receiving effective language proportional to their brain development: “Check your balance,” “Do you feel secure?” “Is the branch stable?” In this way, they discover their bodies, their potential, and their limits. And not less importantly, the 2-year-old learns from the 4-year-old, while the 4-year-old takes care of the 2-year-old. 🤝 🧠 Did you also know that the same neural connections used for climbing trees are applied in writing and mathematical calculation? A child who climbs trees frequently will develop neural connections for a good grip for writing and will have a brain already predisposed for mathematics. Did you know that? Being in nature and climbing trees is more important than we think. 🌿 #TreeClimbing #ChildrensDevelopment #NaturePlay #NeuralConnections #OutdoorActivities #ChildhoodDevelopment

Fun fact: the part of your brain that is in charge of thinking before you act (nerd alert: your “prefrontal cortex”) is not fully developed until you’re around 25 years old! This means your children may act without thinking due to their developing brain. Their prefrontal cortex is literally NOT FULLY THERE. Their brains are offline. Swipe to discover how the parts of your child's brain work together (or sometimes don't) & gain valuable insights into why they might make seemingly "bad" decisions. ➡️ Understanding their brains opens the door to calmer interactions & better communication. Kids do well if they can- not if it’s Friday, not if they’re going to Yogurtland after school, but if. they. can. And if they don’t have a pre-frontal cortex (and remember, they don’t!), they are often unable to think, “Hmm, maybe I should use that Unicorn Breath Mrs. Kate taught me last week.” The Hand Model of the Brain provides insights into emotional development, meltdowns & how to support your little one's growth. Inhibition and Self-Monitoring is the ability to control impulsive actions and keep an eye on your own behavior. It’s being aware and having the ability to put on the brakes when you’re about to do something you shouldn’t. One simple way to practice inhibition and self-control is through the “stop and think” technique. Whenever you feel the urge to do something impulsive, pause for a moment and ask yourself: “Is this a good choice?” Take a deep breath and consider the consequences of your actions. This brief moment of reflection can help you make more thoughtful decisions and exercise greater self-control. The forecasting activity in our workbook can train the brain to do this! Leading neuroscientists, educators, and early childhood development specialists are in consensus: the experiences we have in our earliest years play a pivotal role in shaping our brain's development and our learning abilities later in life. Remarkably, the brain is at its most adaptable during infancy through to age five, primed to soak up a vast array of experiences, interactions, and environments. To put it into perspective, three-year-olds boast twice as many neural connections as adults, illustrating the immense capacity for learning and development during these formative years. It's the quality of a young child's interactions with parents, caregivers, and their broader social and physical surroundings that refine and define these neural pathways. Engaging, loving, and supportive experiences help to prune excess connections and strengthen those in use, laying down efficient networks that serve as the foundation for all future learning. We're all about providing our youngest with the best start in life, ensuring they have the robust foundation to grow, learn, and thrive. #colinalearningcenter #EarlyBrainDevelopment #FormativeYears #NeuralConnections #ChildhoodExperiences #NurturingFuture #CognitiveGrowth #EmotionalWellbeing #LanguageSkills #BuildingFoundations #EarlyLearningMatters #InvestInEarlyYears #BrainPlasticity #ChildDevelopmentExperts

The Power of Acceptance and Thankfulness 🧡🙏💚 Begge tingene er like viktige. Hvis du liker denne teksten sett gjerne en like, jeg blir takknemlig for det 💖 #takknemlig #takknemligheten #takk #akseptere #akseptering #hjernen #hjerne #lykkelig #lykkeligliv #familieogvenner #neurons #neuralconnections #brain #visdomord #happylife #thankfullness #thankful #thankyou #acceptance #visdom #wisdom #wisdomwords #familyandfriends #coach #coaching #принятие #благодарность #нейронныесвязи #нейроны #мозг
