Presentation: The version is presented on a heavy full color thick gatefold sleeve with a 24” x 36” poster. Linear notes, pics and album history by the band are documented on the inlays. Also includes a rice paper poly lined sleeve. Nicely done! Rating 5/5. Vinyl Quality: This version is pressed on a single red/purple marbled colored vinyl. Center labels contain the band/album logo and track listing. Nice coloring without defects or rough edges! Rating 5/5 Sound Quality: The original Peter Tagtren mix holds up well on this release. Great volume playback that is clean without any pops, clicks or surface noise. Rating 5/5. Overall: Although it is often overlooked, “Silence Of The World Beyond” was an excellent release during the watershed years of Swedish Melodic Death Metal. Hypocrisy ~ The Final Chapter. Limited Edition Gatefold Press on Two Clear with Blue and Red Splatter Vinyl Records. Limited to 800 copies. Nuclear Blast Records. Catalog NBR 80931. Barcode # 4065629709358. As legend states, “The Final Chapter” was intended to be the last Hypocrisy album before the band called it quits to focus on other projects. Luckily they stuck it out and if that was their true intention, their 4th full length is one of (and to many fans) their best. Old school brutality and melodic groove alternate each other perfectly on this album track to track. For the old guard, there are plenty of thrashers offered that rank with some of their best in terms of speed, hooks and intensity. For the other fans that enjoyed the doom and melodic moments of “The Fourth Chapter” and “Abducted,” there’s a wealth of solid moments to enjoy as well. Also worthy of mention is the sound quality on this press. Nuclear Blast wisely pressed this on two vinyls at 45 RPM speed. The result is a cleaner sound with excellent volume and separation of the instruments! Album number 20 is not only a huge achievement for a band but also a massive undertaking to prove that they still have something relative and important to share with their fans. The inspiration this time around tilts back towards the songwriting during of their early 2010’s trilogy of “Ironbound, The Electric Age and White Devil Armory.” I’m happy to say that Overkill are still thankfully one of the biggest contributors to the thrash and metal scene. “Scorched” shows proudly that the golden boys from Jersey still know how to write epic and catchy, high throttle thrash tunes. Also to mention, there are some fantastic groove oriented numbers to keep fans of their 90’s era happy. One of my favourite top ten albums! And ps I’m a mega War on drugs fan!!! One of those bands I would sell my kidneys to go see! A deeper Understanding - I listened to this album while driving along the northern rivers of NSW a few years ago. And to be honest when my mate Quang aka - “music drug dealer” - a friend that recommends new music to listen to) it took me a few listens to fall in love with this album. The lyrics are so beautiful!
