Canyonlands National Park, Utah I am not sure where I took the photo on which this painting is based—after all, I was last in Canyonlands thirty years ago. But I think it was at Grand View, in the Island in the Sky District (which my husband and I always call I-Sky). It is hard working from a faded old slide. I always like to use my own photos, for copyright reasons, of course, but also because they bring back memories of my own visit. I scanned it and down-loaded it to my computer, but the colors and the horizon just didn’t come through. I actually had to hold the slide itself up to the light to see some of the detail. 11.08.2022 🇦🇺 𝘛𝘰𝘱𝘢𝘻 – The first tangible proof I got of the existence of Southern cassowaries 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘴. This is the first time I “met” a Southern cassowary (apart from those weirdly aggressive birds in 𝐅𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐲 𝟑). This picture was taken inside the garden of my dear friend Cliff Frith. Such vibrant colours.
