It’s time again for something different... a few photos I took with my new toy: the #sonyrx100iii. A tiny compact camera, smaller than my iPhone and therefore easy to carry. For the photographers among us: you can set everything manually and it photographs in RAW! A nice upgrade from my phone camera, but certainly not a replacement for my beautiful system cameras. How bizarre is that first photo? The butterfly had fallen into the water and was trying to get out. Hoe gaat het er bij jullie aan toe? Zitten jullie wel eens langer dan 2 min met iedereen aan tafel? 😉 Bij een Day in the life zorg ik ervoor dat er altijd een eetmoment in zit. Omdat dit moment meerdere keren per dag en élke dag terugkomt in jullie gezin vind ik het zo bijzonder om vast te leggen. De “activiteit” is bij iedereen hetzelfde maar de uitvoer is toch steeds zo anders. Ook gebeurd er VEEL tijdens het eten aan tafel. (of op de bank, grond of waar dan ook) De focus van een kind is ongeveer 1,5 min gok ik en als je een poging waagt om een kwartier aan tafel te zitten... reken maar uit 🙃

It feels vulnerable and scary to share this here... but I saw somewhere it's maternal mental health week, so I'll be brave today. 😅 I did a lot of writing through navigating life with baby twins, which... well. Let's just say was kinda hard. People sometimes say things like "how did you do it?!". And I say, well, I don't feel like I did, to be honest, but here we are, so I must have. 🤣😅 So maybe, hopefully, most people won't relate to the words below ⬇️ but if you do or did, feel free to comment or send me a message. Motherhood can be the loneliest place you'll ever be with constant company. ---- There is a fog sometimes. A fog full of flies. Buzzing and nagging and filling my head. A fog full of lies. Shouting and jostling, they weigh down like lead. There is a fog sometimes. It's darker than night. Swirling and heavy and gloomy and dense. It clouds my mind's sight. It all feels too hard, and nothing makes sense. The fog makes me slow. I'm pinned to the couch, while the chores grow and grow. The fog makes me mad. When small things go wrong, I feel sadder than sad. I wanted this, I chose you. I'm so lucky to know you. This life was my dream. Yet now it feels out of control, like a scream. There is a fog sometimes. A fog of no sleep. Of aching and longing and yearning for rest. A hill that's too steep. I'm slipping and sliding, I'm blessed, yes I'm blessed... This role they call mother. I've never in my life been so always with another. The loneliness of motherhood. This role in which thousands and millions have stood. But sometimes this fog, it melts apart And I can see clearly once more with my heart. I can feel your wee fingers curled around mine I can feel your warm body, the curve of your spine. I can smell your perfection, I'm athrall with affection. The fog, it's now rosy It wraps us up, cosy. I'm blessed, yes I'm blessed! I'll keep doing my best. Together, You and I. We'll survive. E como o dia ainda não acabou e continua a ser Dia Internacional da Parteira, não posso deixar de falar na Raquel Cajão. A parteira com quem assisti aos dois últimos partos. Eu “conhecia” a Raquel das redes sociais. Sempre que ela participava em conversas eu tentava assistir. ÜBER DIE SCHÖNHEIT DES KRANK SEINS Nichts ist schön an einem Magen-Darm-Virus, wirklich nichts. Detaillierte Beschreibungen der Geschehnisse erspare ich mir - ihr wisst schon, Flüssigkeiten 🫣. Als ich als Kind krank war hatte ich immer das Gefühl, egal wie schlecht es mir ging, egal wie hoch das Fieber war, da ist jemand der mich behütet. Ich hatte niemals Angst, da war jemand der mir die Hand hielt, fünf mal die Wäsche die Nacht wechselt und die Stirn streichelt. Wenn wir am vulnerabelsten sind, brauchen wir einen Raum, der uns hält und beschützt - dieses Gefühl will ich meinen Kindern geben, wenn sie krank sind. Bei uns bedeutet das, dass die Matratze mit umzieht, dort wo die Familie ist. Hörspiel all day long. Es wird Tee ans Krankenlager gebracht auch wenn man weiß, dass dieser niemals ausgetrunken wird. Und Mittagsschlaf im Lichtfleck. Mein Sohn sagte heute zum mir: "ich bin hier gerne krank." Our new boy Terry, enjoying the morning sunshine with Dean in the “catio” (our screen room that Brendan built for the entire family😂💓). He’s a one year old stray, he was covered in burrs and matts when he was found, that got all chopped out by the rescue, and then Brendan and I worked on his back legs with the help of Ruby and some treats🙌 He’s incredibly loving & cuddly, super friendly and confident. Now that he has a safe, loving place to live, he can rest and work on gaining some weight and growing back a healthy coat. Afternoon reading in the sunshine💓 Ruby is so determined to read like Piper asap. She looks through all their graphic novels and pulls out all the words she can read and tries to figure out the story with the pictures and the random words she’s able to sound out. I have a feeling she’ll be flying through those books reading all the words within 6 months.
