One of my favorite gatherings of the year for a non-Seder Seder with dear friends.

The aunts used to take turns sleeping in the single bed next to my grandmother, but sometimes, because of their fatigue, they wouldn't hear her stirring and sleep right through it. Aunt P decided to set up 2 chairs with cushions next to Grandma's bed to allow her to be as close as possible. This is where Aunt P sleeps now.

Featuring 🚀© Yasir Iqbal’s series I Pursuit I . My work was shot over two and a half years in India while traveling from Noida (Delhi NCR) to New Delhi using various modes of transportation. The narrative relates directly to my state of mind and perspective on the subject. It can all be summed up with two words: Desolation and Isolation... Just like a sheep abandoned in a strange herd in the middle of nowhere, carrying a black burden on my shoulders, wrapped in black, tossed aside, pulled and pushed into endless destinations... I feel my soul and heart being torn apart by these materialistic noises. In search of a nest of solace, I wander this concrete jungle feeling lost and perplexed. . 📸© @yasiriqbal . Featuring 🚀© Paul Max Fischer’s series I Disciples I . I’ve always been fascinated by cults and their leaders to such an extent that I sometimes dreamed about starting a cult of my own. Over the years, I have tried and failed to understand why I am so fascinated by this topic. When I was a child, I fantasized about what kind of person I might become. My idealized self-image was deeply influenced by art and (pop) culture. In spite of the fact that my fantasies didn’t become reality, I still indulge in them from time to time in order to create an alter ego for the part of my personality that is filled with self-doubt, fear of failure, and melancholy. . 📸© @paulmaxfischer . We traveled to Texas for the eclipse, and it was phenomenal! On our way, we stopped at @whitesandsnps. Our family has an ongoing love affair with sandy dunes, so we had to go just a bit out of the way to visit. It’s otherworldly, and so much fun! The wind blew the sand everywhere, but it was worth it!

How old was your kid when they dropped their day nap? Any genius tips? For knowing when the right time is and then actually achieving it as painlessly as possible. I shared a post to my stories about the pain of kids who when they nap, won't go to bed at night... When they don't nap, fall asleep/are little horrors mid to late afternoon. And the number of responses I got showed I'm clearly not alone. 🤯🤪😴😴 One of my biggest regrets with my oldest was dropping the nap too early... But I feel like these two are ready... How did you do it?? *Photo of someone else's mischief maker. 😂😂

Documentary Photography. If I’m forced to pinpoint a “style”, I suppose this is the most fitting. So much so that the confines of a “shoot” can be utterly stifling at times. I’m often most inspired to pick up my camera in the simplest of moments. I want to be there when you haven’t picked out the perfect outfit or put make up on when you hardly ever wear it anyways. There’s so much beauty in the everyday. My ideal shoot is spending the day in your space, a very large fly on the wall. There’s so much beauty in the way we naturally move. I understand getting dressed up, wanting to present our best selves, trust me - my messy bun and moomoo on a Sunday morning are not my cutest look. But it is authentic. It’s how my life was lived in the moments I felt the most safe. There’s so much beauty in that.

A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my grandmother, who is celebrating her 103rd BIRTHDAY today!!🎉🎂🎈

4/8/2024, 1:26:47 AM

Family members had just left the house after a very happy birthday celebration for Aunt J. Mama Chang and I were in our respective rooms, getting ready to turn in for the night. Suddenly, we heard a loud crash, immediately followed by Aunt P screaming. Grandma had fallen and hit her head on the porcelain tile in the bathroom. We all blamed ourselves for not watching over her more vigilantly, but the aunts took it the hardest. Aunt J had been downstairs when it happened. She didn't let Grandma out of her sight after that.

Featuring 🚀© Camilla de Maffei’s series I Delta I . Marshy, rugged, monumental. The Danube Delta is Europe’s largest estuary, a natural labyrinth of water and reeds covering some 3,500 km2. Located at the most peripheral point of the EU, between Romania and Ukraine, it is the place where Europe physically ends, sinking into the Black Sea. The delta region is sparsely populated and lacks basic infrastructure. The few villages scattered across the territory can only be reached by boat and sink into darkness as soon as the sun goes down. Living in the Delta means living in symbiosis with the landscape and its changes; like minotaurs, the inhabitants live immersed in this labyrinth, enduring the emptiness it imposes. I spent five years immersed in the bowels of the Delta to document the deep bond between this wild territory and its inhabitants. I observed the landscape and its slow mutation to experience how the regular and inevitable rhythm of the seasons influences moods and habits, conditions people’s desires and establishes physical and mental barriers. During this long research process, the marshes’ physical reality gradually lost consistency, acquiring the psychological character of an actual labyrinth. Through a photographic record that intentionally fluctuates between anthropological observation and symbolic transfiguration, I have drawn my own map of the territory: an interpretation that interrogates the landscape and explores the deep meaning of the act of Inhabiting. Inhabiting a territory, a labyrinth, themselves. . 📸© @camilla_demaffei . Featuring 🚀© Kaja Rata’s series I Kajnikaj, or Here and There in Silesia I . In a small town in rural Poland, a photographer grapples with the distinct ordinariness of her town—and devises an atmospheric series that might grant her a means of escape: Sometimes it seems to me that everything here is going to collapse. The houses, grey from soot, and the broken pavements threatening to fall into the mine corridors below. I live in a small town in Silesia, a region in Central Europe that includes part of Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. At some point there might have been something interesting going on here, but it was so long ago that it has since been buried in memory, hidden from view. The town is neither pretty nor ugly. There is no heritage from previous generations, nor any hint of flair in the current ones. If not for the dead mine shafts protruding from below, my town might be located anywhere. Or perhaps it does exist elsewhere, here and there. “Gdzieniegdzie” in Polish means “here and there.” But this word also has an equivalent in the Silesian dialect—”kajnikaj.” If we use the latter, the dialect allows it some specificity, some locality: my town and my story will become less “here and there” by virtue of their place in Silesia. This is an obvious form of taming reality, which allows us to build upon it and create a mythology of sorts. When I look at the sky over the decaying town, and when I build rickety contraptions, I am trying to find a means to escape from the place I was born and raised—even though I know it’s a futile attempt. . 📸© @mokra_voda . Marcello He lives in Campo De Fiori area of Rome (a historic place) but has been in Porta Portese for 20 years now. He is teased by all his friends and colleagues because of his abundant buttocks strabbling out from the saddle of his old Vespa motorcycle. He never managed to take a license for the job place he occupied and was angry with foreigners who were successful. The first encounter with Marcello was certainly particular: as I walked back home I felt called myself. Or rather my camera was noticed: “Hey! Take a picture of me with that camera!” I turned my head and saw him under a big hat with those eyes telling me the emotions of a whole life: “At my time there were only Leica and Hasselblad as the queens of photography.” They have changed the way we actually shoot!” I really agree with him. 📷 Leica Q + Summilux 28mm f1.7 Asph #leica #leicaq #portaportese #natgeopeople #gettyreportage #documentaryphotographer #socialdocumentary #thedocumentaryapproach #streetphotocolor #lensculturestreets #friendsinperson #thephotosociety #reportagespotlight #natgeoyourshot #natgeo #lensculture

Featuring 🚀©Thomas Gauthier’s series I Seán I . Seán lives in the Canadian Rockies, in British Columbia. He lives in a small village in the Kootenays (a name derived from the first nations who inhabited this region). Seán lives at nature’s pace, consuming little and enjoying the beauty, silence of the place. Daily chores punctuate his winter days. His asceticism is based on « happy sobriety » with respect for nature, a « dense » life with an affective relationship to things and places, in contrast to the artificial pleasures of industrial civilization. His morning routine includes gymnastics and running in the forest that surrounds his house. In disregard of our world’s rules, his lifestyle remains traditional, but is healthier and more modern than most of his contemporaries who are seeking healing methods. Both the subject and the environment are important. Photographs oscillate between intimacy and solitude, coming and going in a hushed silence, alternating between snow-covered landscapes and Seán’s house enveloped by this wild environment. Throughout this series, I question our relationship with our environment. Seán emancipates himself from all identity to become a simple human being. He embodies a forgotten wisdom and embraces the realities of the world. . 📸© @thomasgauthier.photographie . The Power of Storytelling! Can we redefine how we "celebrate" the loss of someone dear to us? This was a photography session like no other! A Celebration of Life beautifully orchestrated to gather family (who hadn't seen each other in over 20 years!) and genuinely marvel and honour beautiful lives and the memories they made possible! Beautiful stories told in a yarning circle and memories brought back around family photographs from times gone by! The older generation sharing their memories with the younger ones so the stories can live on! The honour was all mine in having the opportunity to bask in the energies of this gathering!✨️ #love #familyphotojournalism #homebusiness #supportlocal #familyphotographer #brisbanefamilyphotographer #lifestylephotographer #brisbanelifestylephotographer #thefamilynarrativeaustralia #thefamilynarrative #inbeautyandchaos #dearphotographer #thelifestylecollective #letthekids #letthembelittle #lightinspired #thesincereststoryteller #documentyourdays #thedocumentarymovement #familyphotojournalism #photojournalism #dfpcommunity #thedocumentaryapproach #auswip #docfamawards #familynarrativeau #sonyalpha7 #sonyalphaaustralia #digitalphotography
