When I found out we’d be just over an hour from Savannah, Georgia I knew I had to go. The “old me” wouldn’t have gone. I would have waited for Cory to be available to go (and drive). I would have been too scared to drive on the interstate and way too intimidated to explore a new city (or any city). When we hit the road in August of 2022 I was thrown into a life where I couldn’t stay in my comfort zone. Life on the road doesn’t allow for that. Then in December of 2022 when Cory tore his achilles I did not have a choice. If we wanted to go anywhere or do anything I had to drive. I had to go places without him. It was terrifying! But I am forever grateful that God used that time to push (or kick) me out of my comfort zone so that I can confidently go and explore new places like Savannah, Georgia. If you have the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone do it! There’s a big world out there to explore and a lot of new people to meet. You never know how God will use you to further His kingdom. From our apartment (2 minutes walk from Juliette's balcony) it took 30 minutes to get to Peschiera del Garda, the bus was €1.50 and took around 10 minutes to the station and the return train worked out at just over €6 per person. From the station it's less than a 10 minute walk to the lake, where we hired a private boat to take us on a tour of the lake (there were 9 of us and this worked out cheaper than the bigger tour boats) and the children loved the high speed ride and view of the snow capped Dolomites. 24 hours in Verona We flew with Ryanair from Birmingham to Verona It's only 25 minutes from the airport into the centre of Verona and only 6 euros on the bus. The weather was forecast to be horrendous with thunderstorms but after a two minute shower it turned into a glorious day. DAY 2 🇺🇸 - LALA LAND . We didn’t see much of L.A. but, La La land being one of my favourite movies, we did want to see the @griffithobservatory . We parked the car at the foot of the hill and walked up via the firebreak trail. It is quite the hike but the views on Hollywood & LA make it worthwhile. 📸 Inside the observvatory is a free museum worth visitin. 🪐⚡️💡 After that we drove back home via Beverly Hills & Bellaire and went for a quick walk on Rodeo Drive. One of the areas we really enjoyed on @norwegiancruiseline Bliss, was The Waterfront on Deck 8. Some of the most popular speciality restaurants are on this deck and they have outside tables for you to dinner al fresco. There is no need to worry about it being cold outside as there are built in heaters above the tables. The restaurant in the photos is La Cucina - the Italian speciality restaurant on the Bliss. We think NCL have really nailed it with this option and we are looking forward to travelling on the Norwegian Prima in December as they have expanded The Waterfront to include infinity pools and sunbeds! We rolled into Narrandera, NSW late last night and dined on as much fruit and veg as we could manage, ahead of todays SA border fruit quarantine (been there paid the bloody fine last time!) The cute little Maileg mice are coming along for the ride. We passed fields of cotton, a few road trains and a fair few cattle stations. We used our second Free At Sea voucher yesterday and ate in Le Bistro, the special French restaurant onboard. The ambiance is fantastic and, being on deck 17 it has wonderful views. Service was great but portion sizes were a bit on the small side. This is a theme we have found on this ship. It feels like they are cutting costs by reducing portion sizes. After leaving Juneau, we made our way to the Endicott Arm fjord for some scenic cruising. This is when having a balcony cabin really came into its own. However, there are still other places you can take in the sights from other areas of the ship. The Observation lounge is great if you want to stay in the warm with amazing views from the front of the ship. Get there early if you want a seat though. The crew opened the bow of the ship for passengers to watch as we passed through the fjord. As we got closer and closer to the Dawes Glacier, there were more and more ice flows in the water. Sadly, it did mean we couldn’t reach the glacier but it was an amazing experience all the same. Sailing in April, we always knew this would be a bit of a gamble but we don’t regret this cruise one bit. Dinner last night in Ocean Blue was so good! The ship is massive but it doesn’t feel at all crowded as there are so many places to eat. Ocean Blue is a seafood speciality restaurant. Did you know Seattle has a monorail? It goes between the Seattle Center and Downtown (Westlake Center). We are using it a lot to get from our hotel @hyatthouseseattledowntown to Pike’s Place, the waterfront etc…. Built in 1962 for the World’s Fair, it’s a real gem and park of Seattle’s excellent public transport system. This is our cosy home for a few days whilst staying in the jungle at @elephanthills_thailand We have a luxury tent with a full working bathroom (surprisingly nice) king sized beds and 2 beds for the kids. If you ask our teenage son which ship he had the best time on, he would hands down say the Enchanted Princess. He absolutely loved The Beach House (teens club) and has made friends he is still in touch with today. Cruising gives teens that little bit of independence they don’t get on land. What a great campsite for teenagers and also younger children ❤️! The location in the woods is very beautiful and there's a cool swimming pool too! Ik nam mijn tienerpeetdochter mee om Île de Ré te verkennen, dit prachtige kleine eiland voor de kust van La Rochelle, en dit is wat ik heb geleerd: 1 - Houd ze bezig - wandelen en fietsen om te verkennen. 2 - Bezoek historische plaatsen: echte monumenten zijn veel interessanter dan geschiedenisboeken. 3 - Daag ze uit om nieuwe gerechten te proeven. 4 - Geef ze de vrijheid om rond te dwalen (ze lopen graag voorop bij volwassenen zodat andere tieners denken dat ze alleen zijn!) 5 - Geef ze wat vrije tijd op veilige plaatsen (het strand, het dorpsplein 's avonds om andere tieners te ontmoeten en herinneringen te creëren). 6 - Laat ze beseffen dat het dom is om tijd op hun telefoon door te brengen als je het moment kunt beleven. 7 - Laat ze overal hun passies beoefenen (muziek, gymnastiek, surfen, wat ze ook leuk vinden). 8 - Heb genoeg activiteiten gepland zodat ze zich nooit vervelen. 9 - Laat ze 's ochtends uitslapen! 10 - Ze lachen niet veel, maar ze waarderen nog steeds alles en zullen deze vakantie voor altijd herinneren! After the rain yesterday in the UK, we are even more excited for the summer and some sun! If you haven’t met us yet, we are Beth and Tony, a British/American couple based in the UK. We have two teenage sons and travel as often as we can. We are huge fans of cruises, Disney, US road trips and Greek Island hopping. We met in NYC in 1999 when we were booked to perform on the Saga Rose (Saga Cruises) World Cruise 2000!! We circumnavigated the globe and came back engaged!! This was Tony’s first cruise contract as he had previously worked as an actor in the US including a year at @waltdisneyworld Orlando working in a number of shows there. Beth was already a seasoned cruise performer by this stage having performed on different lines all over the world!! You could say our unique experience makes us fairly knowledgeable about all things cruise, Disney and travel!! However, there is always more to learn, discover and explore which is why our YouTube channel ‘Travelling With Teens’ was born. We aim to show our boys as much of the world as we can and hope you will join us!!! One of the coolest things we did in Bali was make our own jewellery at Agung Silver. Up in the hills above Sidemen, you will find relaxed, friendly and well run Agung Silver. You can select from their designs or bring along some inspiration of your own. Then they take you through the making process, allowing you to try everything and only stepping in when it is a little tricky or you are making a mess of things. They are super patient and know their stuff. Plus you get to walk away with a great souvenir.
