Consolation “You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.” Psalm 3:3 NASB Oh how I needed to have this come to me today! Picture a young girl running a race. She leaps off to a great start when the gun sounds. She pushes her way to the front of the pack in no time and sets a pace that is tough to compete with. As she rounds the final corner with the finish line in sight, she stumbles. She tries desperately to regain her balance, but it’s too late. She crashes to the ground. Trying to be brave, she jumps up and sprints the final yards to complete the race. Fourth place. Head hung low, skinned knees burning, and vision blurry, she walks over to her coach. He gently lifts her chin to the sun, and brushes away the tears that have spilled over. As her bottom lip begins to quiver, he reassures her that everything is going to be ok. Let's put a lot of effort. Put a lot of emphasis on the clothes we wear, they are definitely dirty, even if we want them to be dirty, we cannot save them from being dirty and dirty. My Confidence In times of war, army strategists benefit from high vantage points. Looking upon battlefield from above is the best way to formulate strategies for their troops. Before satellites and all the fancy equipment today, they were forced to use maps and spies to predict the enemy movement and put their men into position. In the same way, our lives benefit from a higher viewpoint. When we rise above our circumstances and see life not from our own anxious, urgent, overwhelming perspective but from God’s, life battles become less intimidating as eternity’s promises rise into view. Can we join him to pick kids up on his bus then?!” They asked with excitement. “𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘!” My staff responded with a broad grin on her face. There are always visitors coming to Metro in Brooklyn to see our Sunday School from all over the world all year round. This weekend, this pastor couple and two of their leaders visited Metro New York from Taiwan. They read my book 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 over 20 years ago and have implemented some of Metro’s practices into their children’s ministry. They have been the senior pastors in the church they grew up with in the past 10 years. It’s an influential church that has made a major difference not just in their city but for the Chinese world. They invited me to preach there several years ago and have been #supporting Metro, #praying for us and #sponsoring some of our kids since then. They still decided to visit us even though a major earthquake just hit their city several weeks ago and caused major damage. Because they believed it was very important to #renew their #vision for #missions and see how they could work with Metro more! For that, I’m very grateful! SO, here I am, doing my cardiac rehab every day, driving the bus on weekends and working on some key Metro projects from all over the world. I see what value each gave to my life. It's all been a learning; some I don't feel I need to repeat. I also know that many more teachers will still turn up in the evolution of my life yet to come. Não é sobre, tão somente, os sabores, cores e looks em São Paulo. É mais uma vez a graça do Senhor, irresistivelmente, sendo derramada sobre a vida dos que o buscam. Já comentei nos posts anteriores que a missão em SP teve como foco o de apresentar trabalho sobre as boas práticas de internacionalização no setor onde atuo por quase quatro anos, e é obvio que senti como se estivesse enfrentando um exército, primeiro, porque o público seleto que prestigiava a apresentação já conhecia bem sobre o tema, segundo, que era a primeira vez que o setor onde trabalho participava de um evento internacional de tamanha projeção e no formato de mesa-redonda. Hoje quero comentar sobre como reagir, à luz das escrituras, frente a situações de desconforto, apavorantes e quando parece que tudo vai dar errado. Horas antes da palestra, como de costume, estava lendo e ouvindo as escrituras durante o café da manhã e naquele momento de ansiedade pré-apresentação, a palavra de Deus veio como uma flecha certeira ao meu coração. Estava lendo o livro de 2a Crônicas capítulo 32 quando me deparo com estas passagens: “Sejam fortes e corajosos. Não tenham medo nem se desanimem por causa do rei da Assíria e do enorme exército que está com ele, pois conosco está um poder maior do que o que está com ele. Com ele está somente o poder humano, mas conosco está o Senhor, o nosso Deus, para nos ajudar e para travar as nossas batalhas. E o povo ganhou confiança com o que disse Ezequias, rei de Judá”. Quando Ezequias se viu à frente da apavorante possibilidade de uma invasão assíria, ele tomou duas decisões importantes: Ele fez tudo que poderia para lidar com a situação e ele confiou o resultado para Deus. Nossa, como estava precisando de um afago naquele dia. Precisei entender que confiar no Senhor é entregar tudo, inclusive o resultado do que virá a acontecer, mesmo não sabendo o que estaria por vir, aliás, Ele mesmo já sabia de tudo.
