I challenged myself to copy this portrait of Vincent and the Hallway of the asylum because I feel closest to them in many ways. This is done in 52 minutes (for the initial portrait, and a total of 3 hours for the both complete. It is painted on a kids sized maple art palette with the mixed colors in the lower left. Total size is 12 inches X 9.5 wide - with the interior hallway portrait is only 1.25 in round - and seen only through the thumb hole of the palette. The beautification of Northville Township got a boost from Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet when the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) chose Northville Township for the first time ever to host its coveted Inside|Out art program. I pezzi più interessanti (e che bramavo di vedere) sono sicuramente il “Mandorlo in fiore” e la “Cortigiana”👘 da cui sono stata ammaliata💙(perché io e vincent innamorati entrambi di Hiroshige e Hokusai⛩️). 한국에서 Van Gogh 화집을 사갖고 왔다. 디지털 이미지가 넘쳐 날 지라도 종이질감에서 나오는 감성을 이기지 못하기에… 무거워도 (반찬거리를 갖고 오는 것을 기꺼이 포기하고) 비행기에 데리고 왔다. 맛난 반찬도 며칠 먹으면 없어지지만 책은 나와 함께 있을테니… 반 고흐는 인물을 그리고 싶었으나 모델을 구하기에는 여러가지로 어려워서 자신의 얼굴, 자화상을 많이 그렸다 한다. 경제적인 문제로 인해 자화상을 그릴 수 밖에 없었다지만 우리들은 다양하게 표현한 고흐의 모습을 볼 수 있어 오히려 다행인지도 모르겠다. 나도 고흐얼굴 그려봤다. 시넬리에 오일파스텔의 꾸덕함과 잘 어울리는 듯 하다. #vangogh #vangoghselfportrait #oilpaspel #오일파스텔 #반고흐자화상

#onthisday Happy Birthday Vincent Van Gogh! Born on this day in 1853, this portrait was painted by Australian artist John Peter Russell in 1886 and is a favourite of mine! Van Gogh and Russell became friends after meeting at Fernand Corman’s studio in Paris. Whilst it has been painted in a realist, academic style, you can see some impressionist touches- a style which both Van Gogh and Russell enjoyed experimenting with during this time, and which would later become synonymous with Van Gogh. Russell gifted this portrait to Van Gogh, who it is said was very attached to it. Analysis has revealed that the words ‘Vincent, in Friendship’ were originally painted in red over Van Gogh’s head. Later, this painting was given to Theo and stayed in the family and can now be seen at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. With February ending in a few days, I thought I’d share my March reading plans… 🖌️✨🎨🌻💙🌙🧑🏼🌾🪻 MARCH WITH VAN GOGH 🕯️🌱🪑🌾📖👂🏻🪶💚 I’ve always felt a connection to Van Gogh and his paintings. I’ve collected books about him and his art for years but have never read a single one. I plan to change that this month. March was a prominent month for Vincent Van Gogh. He was born on March 30, 1853, his father (a principal benefactor to the jobless Vincent) died on March 26, 1885, and he moved to inspiring Paris in March of 1886. March is also the month of awakening buds and sunshine after a long winter; it’s the perfect time to study an artist who spent his whole life struggling with himself and his perception of the world. Will you join me by reading a book related to Vincent or maybe by flipping through a book of his paintings? ——— I chose the name “March With Van Gogh” over “Van Gogh March” because I like the idea of “marching” with Van Gogh through his journey as a struggling artist.
