Sully #A2123066 is probably about 8 months old. He was originally surrendered a couple months ago with his best friend and they were adopted together. Unfortunately fights broke out and Sully was too dominant for his best buddy, so he was brought back to us. We have fantastic news! Monty has found his furever home. We couldn’t be happier for him. Monty came from @westvalleyanimalshelterut with a bit of an ear infection. His curled over ears (Scottish Fold Cosplay) are a result of prior infection that had gone untreated before landing in the care of the shelter. The infection is gone but the damage to the ear tips are permanent and adds character. We want to thank Kat from @bunnies_of_north_central for having us attend her monthly Rosie Bunny Bean adoption event today! We had such a great time and we were so impressed! We brought Florence (Baez) #A2098809 with us hoping she would find herself a best friend and have the chance to be adopted and go home. Unfortunately she had a really rough time bonding with the other rabbits. This precious girl was adopted from us and then surrendered near Christmas due to biting the children and being too hyper. What’s unusual is that she was a very calm, relaxed rabbit before she was adopted. Because she has a bite note in her file, it makes it harder for her to get adopted. Baez did amazing at the adoption event today with people. Several different people sat in her pen and spent time with her and she was very happy and gentle. But she is very on edge and uncomfortable around other rabbits. At this time we are hoping someone who wants a rabbit to bond with, give a large, calm environment to, can help this sweet girl. She needs to decompress from the trauma she has been through so she can build her confidence. At some point she might be able to bond with another rabbit. But right now she really just needs her human and forever home. 3 dogs in 3 days. It was brought to my attention that it was the first 3 days of the New Year! The Soulful Dog rescue loves to get dogs directly from the shelter into loving forever homes. January 1st was Leo the black Shepherd who was in foster and in danger of going back to the shelter. The networking of our very own Lisa Fernandez attracted him a wonderful home. His new adopters drove all the way from Lake Havasu to meet him properly and adopt him. January 2nd we rescued Max, who was due to be euthanized on January 7th with sponsors Outtathecage and Andy Corrigan we were able to get him to his forever home in Avon Colorado and get him the medical attention he needed. January 3rd again with the networking of The Soulful Dog Rescue we attracted two wonderful ladies Connie and Rose who drove 2 hours to adopt Crypto now Charlie who is the sweetest boy found stray with a microchip but a no response from his owners. Found severely under weight and sick. His feet were severely burned because of standing in urine at the shelter. We know Crypto now Charlie will be loved and cared for the rest of his days. I don’t always announce our wins throughout a year but seeing it was 3 saves in in the first 3 days of the New year it’s worth a mention. We are seeing it as a trend for the rest of the year. So many dogs and cats are not saved from dying a cruel death in our inhumane shelters so please hold onto your pets with all your love and might. If you loose a family member please absorb those pets into your family or find them a home. Always include your pet in your move. They are family. Thank you to all! As it takes an army to save these dogs. Volunteers are crucial in what goes into saving these dear souls. Andy Corrigan promoted and backed Leo. This makes complete sense, especially given that blind animals depend very much on routine, familiarity, predictability and expectation. Yet things in the shelter are often very unpredictable, unscheduled and there isn’t too strict of a dependable routine. There are also so many loud, unfamiliar noises, lots of people and other animals around, lots of metal cage doors opening and closing, and Bubba is unable to see what’s happening, to even try to fully understand his new reality. Yet despite all of this uncertainty, Bubba has shown incredible strength and resilience, and has an absolute heart of gold! He is so sweet and affectionate with our volunteers.
