HAH, SIKE! Noone's ever told me that. Not saying therapy isn't needed (I'm on it. Current therapist gives 0 fvcks about my issues). Just saying, checking in on people BEFORE they hit rock bottom could help tremendously. When you listen to someone's deep uncertainties about their life and insecurities, MAYBE ⛔ DO NOT ⛔ diminish it by saying you have/have had problems too, implying they should "get over it" because YOU did, justifying it all with a quick "I'm trying to relate". You're not 😑 You're saying "I did it, so you will too. Easy". You have no idea. Sometimes, your "solutions" are not applicable. What worked for YOU won't for others, for many reasons. All in all, am I soft? OF COURSE I AM, very soft, and I should "take a step back" (I'm the one having to work on myself, god forbid people work on their flaws too... Nope, they use "that's how I am, deal with it" and it fcking works for them 🤯), and other fakeass pre-made statements that shift the blame AND the work on YOU. I'm also much too smart, sensitive and self-conscious to live in a world full of RUDE people interrupting you, talking over you, dimwits denying scientific advances of the last centuries, anti-moonlanding, antivaxers, people confusing hypothesis with theory or correlation with causation, social cases with an attention span of SIX SECONDS, dishonest coworkers hiding behind "minimum required" in their 9-5 with an actual work output of 4h maximum, where NOONE cares if you're feeling like sh!t, yet have the audacity toact all surprised sad and powerless AFTER you went off the rail and offed yourself 😡 I'm also capable, unlike most, of dropping everything if someone I care about needs to talk, vent, or feels desperate. YES, it does put a hamper on my mood, and YES sometimes I don't feel like it and it messes up my plans. If I ask my husband something that does in fact have something to do with me, for example he invited people to come and stay at our house, and I asked when they are going to be here and he said it has nothing to do with me, when I try to argue that it does have everything to do with me because I live here his words where something to the effect of “go on! Tell me how it affects you! Tell me how it’s always about you” Another form of control. Did I fight back? Yeh I did a bit actually and he hung up the phone (ohh yeh forgot to say this was on the phone) Just blatant out right trying to control, and when I pushed back and pointed out how it does effect me he hangs up, which again is a form of control, he was feeling like he was loosing control so by hanging up the phone he gets to make the decision therefor in his mind he’s still in control.
