Dann stelle ich sie Dir mit ihren Highlights gerne in meinen nächsten Posts vor. Diese Strecke gehört definitiv zu den schönsten zu fahrenden Straßen Südafrikas und ist an Naturwundern und Sehenswürdigkeiten kaum zu übertreffen. Ein atemberaubender Anblick jagt den nächsten, und du kommst aus dem Staunen gar nicht mehr raus. ꨄ Auf den ca. 180 km erwarten Dich atemberaubenden Aussichten, traumhafte Natur und wirklich fantastischen Wasserfälle. Richtig gehört: 💦 Wasserfälle. Und das MIT (viel) Wasser, was ich so gar nicht erwartet habe in Afrika. 𖡡 Vom hübschen Ort 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗼𝗽 aus ging es für uns zuerst zum „ 𝗕𝗹𝘆𝗱𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻“ & den „𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀“. ‼️ Es der größte Canyon Südafrikas, der drittgrößte der Welt, und auf jedem Fall der grünste Canyon der Welt. Die „Three Rondavels“ erlangten Berühmtheit, weil sie wie traditionelle afrikanische Rundhütten geformt sind, die sich über der darunter liegenden Schlucht erheben. Der Canyon ist 26km lang und bis zu 800m tief. Ｅｉｎｅ ｓｐｅｋｔａｋｕｌａ̈ｒｅ Ａｕｓｓｉｃｈｔ ｏｄｅr ❓❓❓ Leider lässt sie sich auf Fotos kaum wiedergeben. ❗️ Übrigens: Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten entlang der Panorama-Route kosten einen wirklich kleinen Eintritt. Glacier blues. Hiked to the edge of Norway’s 2nd largest glacier and got up close to these beautiful blues! Had to be wary of calving and seriously large, sharp and heavy pieces breaking off. Baudins Black cockatoo. Not all the action was on or near the water in Western Australia. I stumbled upon a small flock of Baudins cockatoos that were feasting on gum nuts. Baudins are one of 3 species of black cockatoos found in WA. They are critically endangered due to habitat loss and being shot by fruit farmers. The bioluminescent sky of the Glowworm Caves. 💙😱🐛 . Equipped with rubber boots, hilarious wool clothes and headlamps we entered the famous Glowworm Caves of Waitomo, New Zealand. Glowworms are bioluminescent creatures that can only be found in three places on earth (New Zealand, Australia and a canyon in Alabama). They are no fireflies and not even worms but actually maggots. But our fabulous cave guide Ash from @downtoearth_waitomo told us that "Glowmaggots" wouldn't fly well and as a marketing/media person I wholeheartedly agree. 😁 . While I was expecting just a little mud and some hiking we soon started to wade knee-deep in cold dark cave water, climbed over rocks with hands and feet and discovered beautiful stalagmites. If you call for adventure you might get it. 🐿️🎒🔦 . We finally reached a large cave that was dotted over and over with beautiful blue glowworms! We sat there in silence for several minutes, staring at the ceiling as if it was the sky. ✨😱 Just wow!! . Can you imagine that the larvae grow for 6 to 9 months just to live round about 76 hours as a fly afterwards? Their only purpose is to lay new eggs. They glow to attract insects which they trap with sticky pearls that hang from the ceilings. 🦟 . We were so happy to be out with @downtoearth_waitomo who don't just shoo tourists through a cave but are committed to restoring native animals and plants, a plastic free environment and their local community. The Serengeti: we drove across the border from Kenya in to Tanzania and made our way in to the Great Plains of the Serengeti. Incredible scenery and an unusual time for safari. It’s very green during January and so it’s quite tough spotting wildlife - apart from the really tall ones and ridiculous stripy ones, of course. The Latin name for giraffe is Giraffa Camelopardalis - coming from Camel Leopard which makes alot of sense when you look at them. The zebra is Hippotrigris which comes from Hippo (river horse) Tiger. The second part of my January trip was a safari, which started in Nairobi. I flew out of Moshi feeling a bit beaten from the hike, malaria tablets, and a dash of food poisoning but all was forgotten on the first drive round Amboseli national park. As the sun set, what seemed like 50+ elephants all turned and started walking towards Kilimanjaro just as the clouds cleared to reveal the snow (and 💩 sorry) capped summit. Incredible sights. No lions, on this day but giraffe and elephant ticked off! Our guide recounted a story of a tour he’d led in which a serpent eagle had hunted a black mamba - to kill them the bird flies up high and drops them - however on this occasion the snake landed in the safari vehicle! “What happened next?” “The snake bit a man and he died”. Excellent.
