Probably not enough if you’re still reading this post 😉. 1.Quadruped Shoulder Circles forward and back. Keep elbows straight as you shrug your shoulders up toward your ears, back toward your hips, down away from your ears, and then forward toward your head, creating a nice circle. 2.L-Arm Stretch Start by lying on your stomach with one arm by your side. Stretch your other arm across your chest with your palm facing up and without letting your shoulder shrug up toward your ear too much. Use your shoulder muscles to pull your chest down toward the floor, creating a nice stretch in the shoulder capsule Once you find a comfortable position, move in and out of the stretch 10 times, then hold for 30 seconds. Repeat this sequence a total of three times. 3.Prone Bent Arm Chest Stretch Start in a prone position (on your stomach) with one hand on the floor and your elbow bent. Shift your weight toward your hand to feel a stretch in your chest. Move in and out of the stretched position, and then hold the stretch. Once you find a comfortable position, move in and out of the stretch 10 times, then hold for 30 seconds. Repeat this sequence a total of three times. 4.Tall Kneeling Arm Raises Start in a kneeling position, sitting with your feet under your butt. Lift your hips as you raise your arms straight up overhead. At the top, you will be in a “tall kneeling” position with your arms straight up. But, it isn’t unattainable. These some prep poses all work on different parts of the body that are needed in crow pose. Practice these with attention to activation and form and you’ll likely surprise yourself in bakasana very soon.‍💪 1. Squat down and place your hands flat on your mat about shoulder-width apart with the fingers spread wide. Spider fingers 🕷 2. Gently press the knees in to the backs of the triceps (if not possible at first, feel free to bring the knees to the sides of the elbows) and begin to shift your weight into the fingertips, picking one foot at a time off the floor. 3. Use the core to draw the navel in toward the spine to stabilize. Move your ears away from the shoulders. 4. Be sure to bring your gaze just between the hands to maintain balance. Balance point is always forward. Keep the 90 degree angle with the arms. Don’t look back in between the feet. AI and art 🤖 Back in the days instagram yoga pictures were as a form of art to me. I created the profile to keep memories of my progress, then it grew into more creative approach as I tried to find beautiful places to capture a pose. This picture was taking at a beautiful Westminster apartment for instance while assisting in filming the Yin and chakra course about 3 and something years ago. As I have an OCD of perfect lines, this picture wasn’t perfect to fit the square (pic 2) of an instagram grid, so it waited. I started my practice 8 years ago after having the girls, I was 32 with no gymnastics or ballet background. I was a mommy trying to find her way back to herself, might have started because of the physical aspect.. but my yoga journey allowed me to meet myself again in every aspect, even the ones I didn’t know were there. I can’t put it any other way. I practiced it ALL the TIME. In one slide you can actually see that I wrapped bandages around my elbows because, I spare you the details, they’d had enough. You don’t have to ruin your elbows, but you’ll need to put in a lot of hours. 2. Instead of just focusing on the posture I practiced dolphin pose a lot + prepared my shoulders with specific drills. So focus on strengthening + opening up shoulders & armpits every time you practice. 3. I walked up the wall and practiced leaning into a stag leg variation multiple times before I attempted straight legs in the middle of the room. As you can see in slide No.2, I fell out of it sideways at first 😄 watch till the end! 4. I mastered falling in a more controlled manner. At first, I dropped onto the sofa behind me, which gave me a feeling of safety. This is when I started to feel more comfortable to practice in the middle of the room, because I had practiced the movement already. Leaving the sofa took me a good 2 months I believe 🛋️ so drop onto a sofa or armchair or bed first! 5. I continuously practice, even now. Once I leave it for too long, the fear creeps back in. Keep at it.
