Love this one. You can also press into your own hands bit weights make it so much easier! 3) Goddess Pose. You can lift one heel at a time or both! 4) Straddle leg lifts. These wake up the legs! If you can’t lift, narrow the straddle. 5) I much prefer doing middle splits with blocks under my calves because there’s somewhere to go! If you’re still quite far up, focus on pulling the inner legs towards each other, then let go a little to sink lower. Slow, strong and steady is the way. I’ve never gone so viral 😅 So many of you tried it, a lot of you nailed it! But some called it “impossible” - Post by @adellbridges - I thought I could offer some tips: 1️⃣ it does require mobility in the quads and hip flexors. These are two muscle groups I’ve worked hard to lengthen and so I know—believe me 😅 I know—it’s no walk in the park. Breathe 😮‍💨 Lowering knees to the floor from toe stand is my favourite stretch. Keep the booty muscles active here! 2️⃣ however you do it, you gotta get the feet in the hands. Again—hello quad length (and hamstring strength!) It may be easier to grab them before you lift the hips 3️⃣ the lift up is A LOT on the biceps. But I found that shifting my weight to one side while I lift the other side helped not having to hold so much weight in your biceps. I think there’s probably some body proportion factors too. Sometimes long arms suck, but other times they help 🤷🏻‍♀️ Please keep tagging me in your hilarious videos if you try it. It’s been amazing to see how many people try this! Thanks for sharing @deepikamehtayoga Leg behind the Head Asanas require a complex mix of movements in the hip . These series of Asanas took me years to be able to do, as I used to train with fitness , spinning, trekking etc so my body was not naturally flexible in this pattern. • In the past I used passive stretching as my main approach to teaching students to do these complex range of asanas but now I also do add in the mix of the FRC (functional range conditioning ) as part of my teaching and in my own practice . The main reason being when the body recognises a certain pattern of movement it is easier to go there safely and there is an almost visual understanding of what the joint is meant to do to go there without hurting oneself. . Here are my fav preps for Leg Behind the Head Asanas for that deep external rotation required in these poses: 1. Standing Hip Axial Rotations (External and Internal in Hip Flexion) :10 reps . 2. Pigeon pose : Again anterior pelvic tilt.:1 min . 4. 90/90 Bodyweight Press x 10 reps : this one is my fav. Helps you learn to activate AND stretch that glute. . 5. Hip External Rotation Passive Range Hold/ lift the leg as high as you can and then fight to hold it there . . These drills are gold.💫🌟🔥 . Save them and Try later.🔥 Your hips will thank me for these .❤️

Two types of movement that you should do EVERY DAY ✨ 1️⃣ Deep squat/Yogi squat 🔥 Try this transition to help you improve your hip mobility, especially hip internal/external rotation. Great routine or/and warm up for your leg activity. Regardless of what activity/sport/practice you do. Deep squat is such an important primitive movement. If you find these transitions too difficult to reach. Also you’re welcome to use a towel/belt to hold, use your hands to support either on a chair/floor. The most important keys are to keep the spine as straight as you can, keep your core brace-in, and activate your booty! Go for a couple minutes on each movements and there you go! 2️⃣ You know cat-cow or cat-camel (spine flexion & extension) but have you tried to move the spine one vertebrae at a time? This is called spinal articulation or spinal wave. There are much more benefits than just fixing back pain or stiff back but also improving back mobility, flexibility and the fundamentals of full body control! When you focus on segments, you’re stimulating the brain function to be able to control the specific muscles and bones to move. You’re developing the body awareness and connection between your abs, spine, shoulder blades, pelvis and the neck together. And no doubt, it makes you feel extremely good☺️ Save this post!
