This past Monday was Hannah’s first watercolor class at Montage Makespace! 🎨 Hannah of @owl.feathers taught a Watercolor 101 class where she shared her favorite paper, brushes, colors and techniques with the class. After everyone practiced, they created beautiful scenery paintings with mountains and trees 🏞️ Everyone came in as a beginner and left with some really great techniques to grow their skills! Hannah is also one of the cheeriest and most fun people to watch teach. I highly recommend signing up for her classes! She not only shows how capable you are of painting with watercolors, she also makes you feel fantastic as you learn! As you've likely realised by now, I ♥️LOVE♥️ creating custom and one-off designs and this was no exception. Even better, the theme was up my street! A friend of mine was organising a 'Hen Do' for a beautiful lady and wanted a sash and veil for the bride to be, but not the normal girlie pink - she wanted rock and roll! I was given a black net veil, plain black satin sash and a gold and black tiara. The instructions were simple - metallic gold, flash of red, Guns n Roses logo and a guitar. Text to say Bride to be and add some sparkles. At this point, I'll be honest - I've not done fabric printing on this kind of fabric before. Satin, yes, but mesh net- no! I'll try anything once and knew there'd be some trial and error involved. I won't bore you with the details of how I planned it and such but look at the results! 😍 York didn't know what hit it. And that feedback? 🤭 This is certainly something I want to do again and broadens my scope for possibilities for projects in the future. Today we traveled to York for a few days for my birthday. It is by far my most favourite city dispute the 4 hour drive from home. My birthday is bitter sweet. Every year I learn and grow as a person and get wiser. But I know in three or so weeks time I’ll be greiving the loss of my mum all over again. She died 3 weeks after my 24th birthday. Before my beloved grandmother passed she would come down and we’d all go for a mean. After my Nan passed me and my partner would go to hers and my step dads to celebrate.
