Biggie Smalls (Jamal Woolard) who goes from honor student to dealer to rap icon all before his unsolved murder in 1997. Notorious is contractually messy as it gives us more of Biggie's life in bullet points form and rushing all aspects like his incarceration and mother's bout with breast cancer quickly (it's pretty much like how Lisa's Mom's cancer depiction in The Room to be completely honest) and some of the actors are greatly miscast with Jamal Wollard actually being an exception as he stood out as Biggie and had the mannerisms, attitude and voice down pat. It's flawed yet more watchable than the Tupac movie All Eyez On Me, where Woolard reprised his role. A lot of critics really hated ‘Whiteout’ (2009). It’s not a sophisticated movie, true; its main appeal is its fascinating setting, an Antarctic base. It also has Kate Beckinsale. Knowing this is a major advantage, it presses her into some obviously gratuitous nudity to make the most of it. That said, she’s a very engaging lead. The plot: as the sole law enforcement officer on the continent, Beckinsale is three days from her final tour at an international research station. A corpse is discovered in the ice, along with a downed Soviet aircraft deep in the snow. She needs to solve the mystery as the first winter storm hits. It’s ‘CSI: Antarctica’ mixed into a 1970s Alastair MacLean action film. Despite its obviousness, there's enough to keep you watching: e.g. Beckinsale chased in high winds and snow by a figure with an ice pick, having to run attached to a rope. Wherever Beckinsale goes, you’re keen to follow, even if there are few surprises.
