Being as we are now in 2024, we have arrived at a pretty awesome anniversary for Batman history.....the 20th anniversary of 2004's The Batman! The 2004 series was such a massive part of so many fans and their childhoods(mine include), so while it may not be as beloved as Batman: The Animated Series, it is still VERY loved. It is commonly viewed as a fan favorite for many of us in this Batman fandom, but I feel like this series deserves even more love! That's why for the rest of 2024, I wanted to take the time to go through the entire series, all the behind the scenes making of the show, the movie, tie-in comics, computer games, and even some canceled projects! So yeah, the rest of the year(or however long it takes), I plan to really go deep into this amazing series and show every single side of the production of The Batman! I think it will prove to be an enjoyable venture and I hope to hear some of you guy's thoughts as well! Le casting nous offre une prestation bouleversante dans cette adaptation de l'oeuvre de Stephen KING. DUNCAN nous offre sans nul doute la meilleure prestation de sa carrière aux côté de superbes acteurs, gentils ou méchants. Ce qui est exceptionnel dans ce film c'est que chaque personnage (ou presque) peut nous faire avoir pitié de lui, même s'il a fait des crimes horribles. L'ambiance sombre est modulée par des éclairages industriels et une lumière naturelle jaune. La musique est très belle et rythme parfaitement le film. Les décors sont assez limités mais ne sont pas un frein à l'intrigue, bien qu'elle s'étale sur 3 heures. Je ne vois pas quoi regretter en dehors de quelques incohérences scénaristiques (je pense à la ceinture de Billy WHARTON dans sa cellule par exemple) que ne verrons que les yeux les plus avertis. Dans l'ensemble, "The Green Mile" est certainement l'un des meilleurs film de tous les temps. À voir et à revoir ! REVIEW: #planetoftheapes (2001) remake Now I’ve seen this 5 years ago the last time I’ve seen this one and I thought this one was just plain bad. But gave it a few rewatch and come to realize it wasn’t completely bad it’s just an okay film. Don’t get me wrong I love Tim Burton works, and other films but to put it bluntly this wasn’t his best or strongest work. Sure the only ones that carried the film was Mark Wahlberg. Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Roth and Michael Clarke Duncan, but the story is a soft retelling of the first film but tried to make it more intense. The soundtrack on this hits hard not gonna lie since it was by Danny elfman who did other films for Tim Burton. The makeup is actually amazing since it’s by Rick baker who did some Ape films like King Kong (1976), but also did a good job on recreating on how creepy the original films make up were. But the films greatest weakness is it’s confusing story. Overall it’s not a great remake but far from a terrible film. I never watched any of the Kung Fu Panda movies, and this year the fourth one released, so I felt like I should go and give the franchise a watch. The first film came out in #2008 and a whole generation of kids, that are now in their twenties, grew up with this as a favorite of theirs. It’s easy to see why, it’s funny, colorful, star studded, and exciting. It’s streaming on Peacock if you want to watch it yourself. #JackBlack plays Po, the panda who loves all things kung fu, but he works with his father, a goose who run a noodle shop. Po is excited that the Furious Five, who he idolizes, is doing a demonstration, and then the dragon warrior will be selected by the wise Oogway. While trying to get a look at the festivities, Po ends up crashing right into the middle of them as the dragon warrior is pointed at; as a result, he is the one chosen. Master Shifu is bothered that such a novice has been selected. He’s already worried that Tai Lung is prophesied to escape. The rest of the five are dismayed as well. When Tai Lung does escape, they rush to face him, but he overwhelms even their mighty skills. Shifu realizes that Po can perform superior Kung fu ability when food is involved. He alters his teaching method to appeal to Po’s strengths and gets him ready to fight. I really enjoyed watching it and Black’s enthusiasm is such a draw. He’s like a living cartoon, so him doing animated work is only natural and he’s fantastic at it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rewatched The Whole Nine Yards from the year 2000 (wow 24 years old!) and it was nice to see the cast having a good time, but there aren’t a lot of laughs overall. When gangster Bruce Willis moves to the suburbs, mild-mannered Matthew Perry’s world gets turned upside down and everyone is either trying to kill each other or get some mob money. Perry is pretty much himself and has some good physical comedy and Willis plays the straight man well. It was a Wednesday. Started with Major League: Back To the minors. Granted a different take on the franchise but what can I say…I enjoy Scott Bakula. Silly fun. Then it was the insanely dark kids movie sequel Return to Oz. I really dig this movie for going into some twisted places. I feel it has aged well after the critics ripped it apart back in the day. Slammin Salmon was next. A fun Broken Lizard comedy that was truly owned by the 11-12 minutes of screen time by the late great Michael Clarke Duncan. He was simply amazing in this role. On the old VCR it was Jet Li in The One. Par où commencez avec ce chef d’œuvre. Pour rappel : la ligne verte raconte l’histoire de Paul Edgecomb, gardien-chef du bloc E, couloir de la mort d’une prison en Louisiane dans les années 30. La vie de ce dernier est totalement chamboulée lorsqu’il rencontre John Coffey, un condamné. Des frissons juste à l’idée de repenser à la voix de John et son mythique « Patron » … Une douceur et une naïveté dans un monde et une époque gangrenée par la brutalité, le racisme et les injustices. Tom Hanks est excellent et réussi à nous imposer son dilemme à l’écran : notre humanité, notre fraternité face à des préjugés sociaux et un système judiciaire sous influence. Michael Clarke Duncan (J. Coffey) quant à lui nous brise le cœur. Son interprétation est fidèle à ce qu’on peut attendre d’une dénonciation juste et efficace pour l’année 1999 : « … c’est comme ça tous les jours, partout dans le monde entier ». Ce film n’est pas à voir si vous êtes de bonne humeur. Il s’agit d’un film triste, voir même violent par moment mais qui nous fait réfléchir, RÉELLEMENT réfléchir. La musique ? Des larmes qui vous montent aux yeux sans forcément réussir à couler.
