𝟷 𝚢𝚎𝚊𝚛 𝚘𝚏 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚜 At the beginning of this year, I stepped into the gym at the heaviest I’ve ever been (outside of pregnancy). Wearing one of Ben’s T-shirts, which at the time, was tight on me, feeling so uncomfortable in myself… Anyone who has followed me from before having the girls will know that before kids, I was in the gym 5+ times a week, I could easily leg press 300kgs, squat 65kgs and deadlift 80kgs. Basically, I was a ‘gym girl.’ I would walk into that gym knowing I looked good, feeling good and being able to wear what I wanted without fear that I’d look fat or there would be wobbly bits overhanging. Fast forward 4 years and 2 kids later, I’m finally back to where I want to be. It’s not been easy. Having a 3 year old and a 1 year old with no family support around, juggling all of their activities/classes they do, as well as working on my online collaborations and still finding the time to work on myself has been really, really hard. It’s taken me almost a year, but I’m so bloody proud of how far I’ve come in that time. I walked into the gym today feeling confident and for the first time since having kids, I didn’t look around and think ‘I wish I looked like that girl, she has a good body’ because today, that was me. I was that girl. Looking at me today, you wouldn’t ever think that I used to be 37.5kgs (almost 6 stone) heavier 16 months ago when I gave birth to Maisie! As of July 2nd, we have been married for 2 years. We've been together since 2019 & it's crazy to think neither of us wanted a relationship, we wanted to be alone & we were happy doing our own thing. Now we have 2 children, I stay home & no longer work a regular job, I care for the home & children & look forward to him coming home, while he's out breaking his back to allow us to enjoy the little we can. I love this man so much & feel so blessed that I married someone who is so amazing. He's a great dad & amazing husband. I didn't have someone to love me unconditionally as a child, as my sperm donor, whose name is Josh, didn't do anything but hurt & control us. And dealing with that kind of truama my goal was if I ever had children I wanted them to have a dad who they didn't have to heal from. A safe & loving home with parents who loved each other & didn't fight & hurt each other & be my children's safe place. And with lots of counseling, prayer, a loving man, and supportive friends. 8 years ago we had the BEST day 🥂 Today we spent the day sleeping in (because kids were at the grandparents 🙌🏼), cleaning the house (because adulting) and going for coffee and a walk (to make sure we spent some time together). It wasn’t fancy or elaborate. We didn’t buy each other anything. We ate take out Vietnamese last night and watched a movie on the couch (mainly because I have an eye infection and was miserable 🙄). But in all seriousness I’m really proud of our marriage and our family. We’ve been up against a lot of adversity in 8 years - vision loss, autoimmune disorders, postpartum depression, the learning curve of parenting and a global pandemic to name a few.
