✨BOOK REVIEW✨ . The Leeway Towers by @abhih.singh . . It took me a while to finish this one! Nevertheless, it proved to be a thought provoking story for me. This book, The Leeway Towers by Author Abhi’s Singh, highlights some aspects of the social, cultural and political issues being faced globally today! The fact that the whole world is running out of resources and the time isn’t far when there will be wars among nations to fight for things as basic as water, food and shelter. So the inspiration of the author is quite evident. And I’m glad someone finally picked up the much needed issues to be addressed. Through the story of a young boy named Kali, and his grandpa as the main characters, the author has perfectly described the scenario in 2 parts, in the years 2020 and 2034. The book is slow paced but every paragraph, everything about the story makes you think about what the world is becoming today and also works as an eye opener, to take precautions because if we don’t, then we might have to face the consequences regardless of whether we are at fault or not. I loved the narration, however at some points there were details which kinda felt dragged, but all in all the story was a great read and most importantly, I learnt a lot from it. Title and cover are also quite intriguing and attractive, which is why in the first place I bought this book! It shows us everything that is wrong with our world, everything that has been wrong with it, and most importantly, everything that could go wrong in the future. His sets combine guitars and vocals with the computer to create a hybrid sound influenced by alternative, electronic, trip-hop, and folk music. Abhih was born in 1984 at a Naval base in Cochin. He spend his early childhood in Port Blair, wandering beaches and woods, paying attention to the Western and Indian instrumental music that his parents listened to during the evenings. He attended a Jesuit boys’ school in South Bombay, during which time he saved up pocket money to buy rock album cassettes he’d listen to, sitting in front of the music system. His family moved to Pune after high school, where jam sessions and disc jockeying eventually became regular activities. He completed university studies in Australia, attaining degrees in Liberal Arts and International Relations, when, bored with the standard pop format, he developed an interest in film, choral, and experimental music. Hill of Non formed out of sitting alone in university accommodations, carving out time amidst the reading and writing to work on music production software. Over recent years he’s lived in Bangalore, in a building teeming with environmentalists, designers, filmmakers, lawyers, and other workers, with strong political opinions across the spectrum; and in an old Goan house, amidst snakes, dogs, and disappearing cats - producing and putting out music all the while.
