Kate karaktere idegesítő, naív, dühítően gyerekes a viselkedése. Eliott szimpatikus volt, sármos, álmodozó, kedves és gondoskodó. Viszont mindkettejüknél úgy érzem, hogy teljesen megváltoztak, mintha két különböző személyiségjegyet vettek volna fel a történet előrehaladtával. Maga az alap sztori, a főnök-beosztott felállás tetszett volna, de ez abszolút nem maradt a fókuszban. A cselekmény túl gyors, és mindent csak felszínesen érint. Pl. Endometriózis, bevallom ez engem teljesen kiakasztott, hogy egy ilyen fontos, súlyos betegséget elbagatellizált az írónő… Egyébként könnyen lehet vele haladni, voltak aranyos és szórakoztató részek is, így abszolút nem bánom, hogy elolvastam, csak teljesen mást kaptam, mint amire számítottam! Review: This beautiful memoir tells the story of young Patsy, when her little town finally got electricity in 1952. I loved the way it was written it was so lovely, you could feel everything that Patsy was feeling as all the changes were happening around her. I really enjoyed stepping into this girls life, seeing the happy life she lived. The way it’s written shares how much they loved where they lived how they were able to entertain themselves with what they had, and though excited for the electricity Patsy was still a little apprehensive over it. I really enjoyed reading this story, I never realised how long it took for electricity to reach certain parts of the world, but I suppose it would have taken a while. So it was really wonderful seeing this wonderful town so excited that it was finally arriving and being put up to make their world a little brighter. The illustrations within this book were absolutely beautiful to look at, you could spend ages looking at them all. Seeing her and her siblings playing, the beautiful visuals of the town they lived in. It was so pretty. This is such a sweet story of one girls life and experience in the 50’s and it was great to read, it was written beautifully, the subject was unique and so interesting and the characters are so lovely that you enjoy following them. Assassin's Quest - @therealrobinhobb This book is BIG! As is the story. For me that's perfect. I love a big detailed, storybuilding and world building epic! However i do know that it's not everyones cuppa tea. I found listening to this on @bookbeat made it much easier to digest. It was amazing to watch how the story came to a head, it wasn't hugely obvious and there were some fabulous twists and turns. I've found i am now quite attached to Fitz so I'll be sad to move on to different characters in the next trilogy. Review: Beau and Jasper have moved to a new farm, but after a game of hide and seek goes wrong Beau is lost on his own and goes on an adventure to try and find his family. This was so cute who doesn’t love a precious story of a cute puppy having an adventure to find it family. It’s was so sad, but really sweet. Beau knew the smell of his favourite treat and associated it with his best friend Jasper and uses that for his guide to get him home. Though it was super sweet, dogs don’t see color so using the red truck as something he used to get home didn’t work as he literally realistically couldn’t see its color. Though as it’s a kids book I won’t let it take enjoyment out of it, picture books tend to have an element of fantasy to them. Review: Katy Carr is overly imaginative and likes to play pretend, the tallest and oldest of six children, who dreams one day to be a grand gentlewoman with big dreams of doing something very special. Then one day her life changes as she is bedbound, having to learn to live differently, her dreams and future changes, her imagination and childlike nature no longer present just a part of her past. What an absolutely beautiful story, I got swept up with Katy’s antics so quickly and grew to adore her family. The fun stories, the make believe imaginative games they played, the love of their Papa the dedicated care of Aunt Izzie. It was all so sweet and lovely. Though there were parts I didn’t like all that much like the way Katy was sometimes gruff and abrupt with her family, she didn’t consider others feelings before choosing her own and had bad tempers quickly, though she was generally a lovely girl. Then with the changes coming, wonderful cousin Helen was able to help shift her mindset, so she was able to become the smartest, the kindest and the most caring woman ever. Her family became the most Important thing and though she couldn’t leave her bedroom, she was still the heart and centre of the household for all, the relationships grew so much stronger and it was lovely.. I really did enjoy this story and it’s a new favourite for sure, it wasn’t perfect, but it was beautiful and such a sweet story. Katy changed so much in the story all the children did, they all grew up. Review: Ralfy and Rodney love their library but no one else uses it, so Miss. Paige is shutting it down, but if only she had a magic dragon she could leave it open. So they gather their friends and try to find a magic dragon and save the library. What an absolutely adorable story, this was so cute. Ralfy, Rodney and their friends all took her words literally and went in search of this magic dragon, spreading the word to all in town that would listen about the library shutting and finding everyone needed it. There was always so much going on in the illustrations within this book so much to look at which was great, I loved having the big scenes in each location. You could see the dragon signs up everywhere which was so adorable to see. They were really beautiful to look at. I really enjoyed this sweet book about saving a library, libraries are so important and I’m glad this book highlighted that, to share that no one is too little to save a library and that everyone can have a reason for needing it. Since diving head first and falling completely in love with Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles in 2020, Greek mythology has become one of my favourite go-to genres. While I won’t claim to know everything about the original classics, from what I have read Clytemnestra is a character I am completely fascinated by and cannot get enough of. I was really intrigued by Natalie Haynes’ depiction of her in A Thousand Ships and gripped by Jennifer Saint’s exploration of Clytemnestra in Elektra (which is who the book really should have been named after!), but Costanza Casati’s retelling of the infamous queen is fierce and (god damn) epic. From growing up as a princess of Sparta and marrying her first husband right through to the months following the end of the Trojan War, Clytemnestra’s saga is one of brutality and tragedy. Casati masterfully encapsulates Clytemnestra’s strength, pain and vengeance, making her a character you admire rather than pity from the very first page. Lots of plot and filled with characters you’ll love (and many more you’ll hate) this book has everything to get you out of a slump and excited about reading. I gobbled this book up in a just a few sittings and so if you have it on your shelf currently unread, my advice to you is to stop neglecting it immediately❤️

Review: Ana is a writer, but not like her mom who writes romance books, Ana doesn’t like love especially as she sees how her parents fight all the time, her sister get heartbroken over break ups constantly and her best friend is always bickering with her girlfriend. When a writing contest arises she is paired with Alejandro the romance writer in her class, but she doesn’t want to include any love in her story. I really loved the relationship between Alejandro and Ana, they were really cute together, they fit together so nicely, like you could tell they had a past, a connection they’d formed long ago and being paired together brought that connection back and heightens it more. The two then ended up falling slowly for each other regardless of the fact Ana didn’t want any love in her life. I loved that aspect of the story. I really liked this story it was full of reality of how life and love is, how scary, how messy, how unexplained and unexpected it can be, but no matter how much you resist it, it will always be there in what ever form it may arise in. Ana hated love but as the story progressed learnt to understand love a little more and accepted it for the first time in her life. This was a really beautifully written verse book, it flowed so naturally, the story was so realistic, the connections, the relationships, the characters were all amazing and I really fell into the story quickly. What are you currently reading? I'm halfway through The Silence Factory by Bridget Collins, out on the 9th of May, and I am totally trapped in its web 🕸️ #prproduct Now, as an arachnaphobe, I was a little nervous to discover that this engrossing gothic tale featured a cluster of mysterious spiders, but I'm pleased to say that they lend just the right amount of creepiness. The Silence Factory has a beautifully interwoven dual timeline narrative. We read Sophia's journal from the 1820s, written on a trip to a Greek island. While her husband James searches for a mysterious native spider, Sophia finds herself falling under the spell of an enigmatic local woman. Then we move forward a couple of generations, where Henry, a recent widower, becomes the unwitting salesman for Telverton Silks in the southwest of England. The company manufactures unusual fabrics, woven from the silk of the aforementioned Greek spiders. These special silks are able to completely mute sound - but can also have a more sinister effect....🕸️ I'm taking my time with this. The writing is so rich, sensual, and immersive, but it doesn't drag at all. The sense of mystery is compelling and I'm intrigued to find out where it goes. Review: Twins Adam and Adrianna used to be close but now they are worlds apart, on a family trip the parents memories start disappearing, then soon Adams do too. Adrianna soon wakes up to the world around her to help save her family. This was so interesting, I really liked this whole different style of vampire, they were so unique and creative, very creepy alien things but nonetheless creative and made the story fascinating. They took the memories from everyone and it left everyone catatonic and on a memory loss auto pilot, it is such a creative take and with the glowing blue, the swirly things on their heads, the bruises that start showing up on everyone’s head, it was really creative. I felt so bad for Adam, he just wanted to have his sister back to his best friend, to spend some time with her like they did as kids in the Alley, but she was so absorbed in her phone she never had time for him or her parents. I was happy that we got to actually see that Adrianna changed back to the girl she once was, to the girl that played in the mud, I was so happy that she was the one to help her family, to have figured out what was going on with her family. I really enjoyed this verse book, it was so different and really unique, though I don’t like aliens, these weird alien vampire things really caught my fascination, just with how unique and creative they were, with how they worked and what they did, it was so interesting. Al principio estaba un poco dudosa, y ha habido algunas cosas que no me gustaban como la actitud de Bel al principio y no es un libro perfecto pero a partir de la reaparición de Rachel y conforme van investigando más sobre el caso te tiene enganchada porque todo el rato sospechas de todos, hay muchos giros de trama y no sabes en quién confiar. El final me ha dejado muy satisfecha, aunque demasiado bonito, pero la resolución del misterio ha conseguido sorprenderme después de que la autora te hace sospechar de todos. Lo que más me ha gustado es la tensión que crea la autora en algunas escenas así que si os gusta un thriller que os tenga en tensión todo el rato y haciendo teorías y que os sorprenda este es perfecto. Review: Zenna doesn’t want to be on the Star Chaser cruise forced to look after her pain of a brother Kain, then the ship starts to go down and she and Kain are stranded on an unexplored land, with prionser teens ready to kill her and all the commands being down she must protect her brother and survive, with help from Arron one of the prisoners. This was a good read, it had a complete dystopian feel to it, but written in a verse form. I enjoyed it, the setting was so interesting and you could really visual it even though it’s not actually real. I’m not usually one for space stories but I did enjoy the setting, the dystopian world of space and new planets, going on a star cruise and seeing the space up close, the clot hues of the new planet they landed on, it was so perfectly described.. I wasn’t much of a fan of our protagonist Zenna though, she was so bratty and rude, her brother just wanted a small bit of her time and she was really rude to him, for literally no reason either. Though she stopped being rude when things started happening, it was a bit abrupt of a change though honestly. But she was a strange character that I never really grew to like. Kain was a very smart little boy who knew everything about the Planets which was so cool learning all the facts he knew, he helped them survive. The prisoner teens were an interesting addition, ready to kill to survive and not be sent to the horrid hot planet to work the lifetime away. I also thought Arron was an odd character, sweet in places and he’d had a hard life, but he was very flippant and didn’t seem to hold an alliance to anyone. I liked how different this was to other verse books, I liked that the style was that of a ya dystopian book, but done in a much easier and creative way. The original trilogy will always be close to my heart but this definitely held up as a fantastic expansion of the world. I didn't know what to make of Suren in Queen of Nothing but gosh I loved her here! She has such strong motivation and an interesting backstory. I fell in love with her and really felt for her after learning about how badly she was treated by her "parents". Oak's character is so fascinating too given his unusual childhood. I'm very excited to read his book! A táto kniha je rozhodne hodná vašej pozornosti či už máte deti alebo nie. Nie je veľmi dlhá a okrem samotných príbehov v nej nájdete aj malý kvíz a miesto na písanie vlastných poznámok. Autorka je mamou dvoch šeliem, ako ich sama s láskou nazýva, ktorá žije v Oregone. Jej dni sú plné vtipných, no aj tých menej vtipných momentov rovnako ako každej z nás. Ona sa však rozhodla s jej zážitkami a skúsenosťami podeliť. Vďaka tejto knihe si uvedomíte, že nie ste jediná, ktorej sa občas nedarí, ktorá celú noc nespala či, ktorej deti sa hádžu o zem počas prechádzky mestom. Ja sama deti ešte nemám, no čítanie knihy som si veľmi užila a istotne sa k nej vrátim v dobe keď ich mať budem. A rovnako ju budem odporúčať aj kamarátkam, ktoré sa pridajú do klubu mamičiek. As a passionate Harry Potter fan, I always gravitate towards stories that involve fantasy and magic. Therefore, when I picked up this book, I was excited to dive into an exciting tale packed with witchy vibes and dynamic characters. Unfortunately, I found myself disappointed with what I read. While the book had a promising concept and a captivating enemies-to-lovers trope, it lacked the essential details and descriptions that would have made the story truly engaging. Additionally, the grandmother's incessant negativity and lack of trustworthy information on demons and witchcraft was frustrating, and Emilia's annoying personality disturbed me.
