Trata de Sophie y Agatha, dos mejores amigas que son una princesa y una bruja, y que, para poder escapar de la escuela, deben ser las protagonistas de un cuento de hadas. En el libro, se utilizan conceptos típicos de los cuentos de hadas clásicos, pero generalmente de forma irónica y se cuestionan las ideas tradicionales de estos, como por ejemplo que las princesas tienen que esperar a un príncipe para ser salvadas. Hay muchas escenas graciosas pero también hay escenas profundas, algunas de las cuales son la naturaleza de los villanos y los héroes, la belleza interior, el valor de la amistad, etcétera. Los personajes están muy bien definidos —como todos los personajes de los cuentos de hadas deben ser— y su complejidad radica en la cuestión sobre si somos innatamente buenos o malos ¿Puede un villano ser bueno si lo desea lo suficiente? El final de este primer libro, a diferencia de otros de la saga, es muy predecible, pero me gustó mucho la idea de la trama y la pregunta filosófica —que está implícita, pero no escondida— sobre si las personas son innatamente buenas y malas. Además, el final le da a un cierre al libro, lo que es importante para mí en cuanto a sagas (no me gustan los finales abiertos, cuando el libro no llega un cierre y la misma trama continúa en el siguiente), aunque deja abierto la posibilidad de que las acciones finales puedan tener consecuencias, que se contarán en el próximo libro. Es un libro middle-grade —lo recomendaría a partir de los 12 años— pero cualquiera puede disfrutarlo ya que es una lectura divertida, con una trama simple pero también profunda. La mia avventura con L’Accademia del Bene e del Male” prosegue, con i suoi tempi, ma prosegue. Quella di oggi è la recensione del terzo capitolo della saga che, possiamo tranquillamente affermare, chiude il primo arco narrativo. I libri in totale sono sei e, avendo terminato i primi tre e iniziato il quarto, ho notato come la saga, seppur sia solo una, racchiuda al suo interno due trame differenti. Con “L’Ultimo Lieto Fine” mettiamo la parola “the end” alla storia di Agatha, Sophie e Tedros come trio. Nel primo libro affrontiamo la tematica dell’amicizia, che risulta vincente sull’amore. Nel secondo libro invece questo si prende la sua rivincita. E nel terzo? In questo volume l’autore ci mostra come amicizia ed amore possano convivere, essere complementari, che l’una non esclude l’altro. I personaggi sono cresciuti molto e continuano a farlo durante tutta la lettura. Nel corso del libro si viene a conoscenza di numerosi segreti che si celano attorno all’Accademia e Gavaldon stessa; tutte le domande che ci eravamo posti durante le letture precedenti trovano finalmente le loro risposte. L’attenzione durante tutta la narrazione non è mai stata così alta, in ogni capitolo c’è un colpo di scena che aggiunge suspense alla storia e ci spinge inevitabilmente a voler andare avanti. C’è molta più azione rispetto ai due libri precedenti, molta più tensione e decisamente molta più ansia. Capiamo fin da subito che la battaglia iniziata nel primo volume deve necessariamente giungere al termine e più andiamo avanti con la lettura, più ci rendiamo conto che la fine è dietro l’angolo. Una cosa che ci tengo a ribadire è che i personaggi della serie sono adolescenti, pertanto si, inevitabilmente ci sono dialoghi che potremmo definire “sciocchi e superficiali”, atteggiamenti un po’ infantili e situazioni che si potrebbero risolvere semplicemente parlando. Ive been planning this pic ever since I found the base ref on fb, I saw it and knew that it would be the perfect set up for a school for good and evil pic! The books are my FAVORITE and I absolutely love the characters and the inclusivity of the whole series. I know they made a movie on Netflix but after watching a couple minutes and seeing how bad they ruined the characters I couldn't keep watching. Even so I still wanted to bridge the gap and use outfits inspired by the movie while I stayed pretty close to the characters original designs. Since I redesigned the way I draw the main crew, I decided I should also redesign them in my AU. I simplified their designs and muted Agatha’s colors because I realized I gave her the most colorful outfit of everyone which is totally not a result of Galavant brain rot from working on the Will My Day Ever Come video… hehe. Canonically, her outfit is a gift from Merlin ;3. Oh and I decided to give it a name. The Wishing Star AU *jazz hands* it’ll be fitting trust me. SGE redesigns!! Full disclosure, I was really frustrated with the way that I designed the main trio (especially Tedros) so I decided to… redo it. I took inspiration from the way that @bnanmonte @rady_art and @skultear draw their versions of the main trio. I hope I did them justice. My life lately 💜 Consisting of many late nights, taking advantage of wintry London, and re-reading a book I DNFed years ago, but am loving right now. A volte ritornano 📚 Secondo capitolo della saga di SGE questo libro affronta come tematica principale la fiducia. Che sia in se stessi o negli altri, questa diventa la chiave per riuscire ad andare avanti all’interno della storia. Se nel primo libro era Agatha l’amica fedele e senza dubbi, in questo capitolo le cose si capovolgono e vediamo Sophie difendere a spada tratta la loro amicizia ed il loro lieto fine. Come per il precedente, anche in questo secondo volume sono riuscita ad entrare in sintonia con le protagoniste, a sentirmi parte anche io della storia e riuscire vedere ogni luogo descritto come si mi trovassi li. La penna dell’autore è ancora una volta scorrevole e coinvolgente, le sue parole capaci di trasportare il lettore pagina dopo pagina verso la fine, senza smettere di leggere. Mi è piaciuto molto vedere come principesse ed eroine salgono alla ribalta, liberandosi del vecchio patriarcato conquistando così la loro indipendenza. Ma, come in tutte le cose, c’è anche il rovescio della medaglia e il troppo stroppia. Se da un lato è giusto che le ragazze siano libere di scegliere della propria vita, libere di salvarsi da sole e di viaggiare con i pantaloni anziché con pomposi vestiti se così si sentono loro stesse, dall’altro ogni forma di femminilità e amore viene assolutamente vietata e severamente punita. Non è più possibile innamorarsi di un maschio, non è più possibile desiderare di prendersi cura di se stesse truccandosi o semplicemente vestendosi carine. Credo che l’autore in questo senso abbia voluto mandare un messaggio molto chiaro e diretto; quello che una ragazza, una donna, possa essere bella, forte e indipendente anche su dei tacchi a spillo e con qualcuno al suo fianco. Trovo che ad oggi, in un mondo di retelling dove le eroine possono essere tali solo se libere dall’amore, sia un concetto importante da veicolare. La suspense ovviamente non manca, così come i colpi di scena che sono dietro ogni angolo. Fino alla fine non ci è dato sapere, ne vedere, dove si celi il confine fra bene e male non solo all’interno delle due Accademie ma anche nelle due protagoniste. Ma diciamocelo, c’è mai davvero una netta distinzione? continua…⬇️
