Bud. 💛 When I met Bud in 2016, he was 82 years young. He had worked at Walt Disney World in Magic Kingdom since the park opened in 1971. Bud and I got chatting and he asked if I had plans to do the Disney College Program. I said that as I wasn’t going to be studying in the United States, I didn’t think I’d have that opportunity. Bud told me about the Disney Cultural Exchange Program. ✨ Bud is the reason I found this program. Bud is the reason I get to live my dream this summer. 💛 I can’t put into words how thankful I am for Bud. Happy 35th Anniversary and Birthday to my old stomping grounds, Disney-MGM/Disney Studios. In 1998, (at 23 years old) I had the benefit of becoming a Cast Member and Attractions Host on the fairly new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. I also worked crowd control at Fantasmic, and danced in the Mulan Parade (and worked control for the parade as well). Incredible memories, but it is where my career in themed entertainment began really. Because of my time in this park, I began to understand the importance of guest flow and THRC (Theoretical Hourly Ride Capacity). I studied and learned how Disney Parks were master planned and designed for the guest. And how ultimately, guest service and how we treat the customer/consumer is vital to long term success. In 2011, I joined Walt Disney Imagineering (in Glendale, California) as a Show Designer and Production Designer on Shanghai Disneyland. The things I learned 13 years previously were implemented by being part of the design team and working on that park. Fun Fact: Hollywood Tower of Terror is one of Heather’s most favorite rides. And ironically, it is the ONLY ride at WDW that Arnold has never ridden. Anybody else wish they would bring the backlot tour back? Or how about Lights, Motors Action!? Does anybody even remember the “Who wants to be a millionaire?” Show or Osborne Family Christmas Lights?
