Stargate- Egyptologist and linguist Daneil Jackson, Ph. D has been asked to translate a series of hieroglyphs by the US Air Force classified project led by Special Operations Colonel Jack O’Neil. Jackson figures out that the hieroglyphs refer to a “Stargate” which uses constellations as special coordinates. Then he’s told the rest of the truth: The hieroglyphs are copied from a giant ring device that when the chevrons algin to the correct coordinates can be used to travel to other worlds. A group is assembled and goes through the Stargate and arrive on the desert planet of Abydos. On the planet they find a race of humans living there who worship the Egyptian God Ra and are slaves under his rule. They also discover that Ra, actually an alien, loves being worshipped by the humans that he brought there centuries ago. La compañía canadiense tenía como estrategia comercial convertir películas de éxito en cines en propiedades televisivas, y ya lo había hecho con RoboCop. Se consideró una serie de cuatro películas para televisión, pero un cambio de propiedad en la empresa matriz de Skyvision, Labatt, provocó una reducción de sus esfuerzos de entretenimiento. El exejecutivo de Skyvision Kevin Gillis revivió el proyecto en su nuevo empleador Catalyst Entertainment, en asociación con la empresa estadounidense Durrant Fox Productions. Ante ustedes se presenta una de los peores películas que han pasado ante mis ojos. Bicheando la otra noche en el extenso catálogo de mi querida @enfilmin me topo con esta cinta de Roland Emmerich. Su último trabajo en su Alemania natal antes de dar el salto a EEUU con Stargate e Independence Day y obsesionarse con destruir nuestra pequeña bola azul que llamamos La Tierra Al inicio sorprende bastante que un presupuesto de 15 millones de dólares se puedan conseguir tales virguerías de escenarios. Unos decorados bastante notables para lo que es el producto. Como si hubiesen ido a los platós donde rodaron Alien el octavo pasajero y Blade Runner como el que va a un bazar de segunda mano y hubiesen arrasado con la MasterCard. Aunque los robots enemigos parecen una versión yonqui de Cortocircuito. El intento de banda sonora descoordinada con la acción es obra de Joel Goldsmith, hijo del maestro Jerry Goldsmith, en una demostración mas de que el talento se salta una generación. Y es que si luego ves las actuaciones comprendes donde se han dejado el 80% del dinero porque madre mía que elenco. Con deciros que en las escenas que deben hablar flojito para trazar un plan, este lo gritan a los cuatro vientos ena cafetería de la estación espacial, enterándose hasta aquellos contra quienes maquinan. Lindeces como esas nos ofrece un guión mal desarrollado y con diálogos que te dan ganas de clavarte un boli en los tímpanos. Y lo más sorprendente es que el guión lo han escrito entre cuatro personas, una de ellas el propio Emmerich. Ya sabemos pues si obsesión por traer guiones malos en sus últimos trabajos. Valoración 2/10. Este film solo sirve para demostrar que con poco se puede lograr mucho a nivel de efectos prácticos y decorados. La novélisation du film est bien plus riche que celui-ci. Apportant profondeur et changement par rapport à lui. A commencer par le colonel O'Neil, bien plus violent et imprévisible, de même qu'une rivalité avec le lieutenant Kawalsky nettement plus palpable. Pour les changements, le plus important est la nature de Râ, ici totalement humaine. Pas de parasites mais des "maitres", comme les appellent Râ, qui feront de lui un lieutenant de mafia (donc une structure pyramidale, mdr). L'aspect alien en retrait laisse apparaitre celui social concernant l'esclavage, la manipulation religieuse. Je préfère quand même la version du film, plus fascinante. Ca reste une novélisation, l'histoire et son univers auraient pu êtres tellement améliorée.
