A truly beautiful day! I had coffee with the winter survivors. It’s actually too warm for them under the cold frames. They’re starting to bolt. It’s unbelievable how quickly that happens. Husband and I pulled out a bunch of invasive multiflora rose. Now we have pile of it to get rid of 🫠 That wasn’t my plan for the day, it just happened. I’m torn about those roses. The flowers are pretty and smell nice and the waxwings love the rosehips but it will 💀 the native trees and smother everything you hold dear. There were branches of it 15 feet up into the trees. The morning after the night before … 🥂 Tuesdays during The Open are like a hangover. You’re trying to function normally doing work stuff and parenting, but everything hurts, you’re in a bit of a daze, you keep going over things in your head and all day you are asking yourself “why am I like this?” 🤣 💬 Why did have that last drink? ▶️ Why did I retest that last time? 🤣 💬 I’m definitely going to learn from my mistakes (knowing full well I’m going to do it all again next weekend 🤣) Seriously though, I’m glad I pushed my limits. It’s a chance to learn a lot about yourself, finding more when you think you have nothing left to give, and realising you can do hard things! This all spills into every day life. I am now in bed recovering from yesterday at MagicCon Chicago! I feel like I am getting too old for heavy cosplays each time I have to wear so much makeup, contact lenses, and a wig. 😅 Especially with the hoopskirt and armors, I couldn't even look and fix myself nor there were any mirrors when I was putting them on, so I really had no idea how I looked until I saw some pictures today. And I was literally putting the armors on and off in the hallways 😭 I was a bit confused with the whole on demand play thing, and since there wasn't much time between the cosplay pre-judging and the actual contest time, I was only able to get one commander game in (what's with the round tables for the free play area?) after grabbing lunch and a quick walk around the con floor. At least my hubby was able to get my Korean Serra Angel signed by the artist while I was in line for the pre-judging. On a positive note, met a lot of cool new cosplayers and saw some familliar faces. As always I was bad at remembering names and faces and also asking for photos..so thanks to those of you who approached me first to make me feel included and took time to talk to me! Congratulations to all the contest winners, and can't wait to see what they all come up with next. It will probably be a while for me to recover enough as well as find enough time to work on my next cosplay, and I think I will keep it as casual as possible. It's time to say my thank yous now that my bodybuilding prep is over for the year. First and foremost, the person that deserves the biggest thank you is my wife @naominorthovertransformations. Prep is all encompassing and when I decide to flick the switch, I give 100%, I'm all or nothing. I can appreciate though, that it impacts family life. Low energy towards the tail end of prep, a refusal to eat out at restaurants for 14 weeks and then there's the grumpiness that comes when I'm in controlled starvation mode, meaning I can be grumpy or snappy. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been an unbearable arsehole the whole time I've been on prep but there's times where I'm more short tempered than normal...but Naomi gets it. She cuts me slack, she supports me when I find things tough and she's also there to pick me up when self doubt kicks in, when I don't feel good enough or when I don't like what I see in the mirror. Without her, this prep would've been much harder and I'm extremely thankful for everything she's done for me over the last 14 weeks (and more!). Secondly, I'd like to thank my coach, @coachedbychristian. I've worked with other coaches in the past but his attention to detail has been 2nd to none. He took me on at very short notice, had my initial plan with me within 2 days of me contacting him and since the peak week for show 1, has had me checking in every day...and I continue to do so. For a coach who runs with over 100 clients, I haven't felt like just a number and I can tell he genuinely gives a shit...it reminds me of myself and my approach to my own clients! He came to the British Finals to support me and his other client Joanna and was just genuinely a decent guy. I believe we have an excellent working relationship and as a result, I'm going to continue working with him for the foreseeable future and I have exciting physique goals which I believe he will help me to achieve! I'd like to thank the @BPA_UK. Both the Rhinos Classic and The British Finals were well ran and great events to be part of. They've shared many of my social media posts and it genuinely feels like they care about their athletes.
