- Reading self-help books has an impact on me for a while, and then I return to my absurd normal routine. It's what always happens with me. I grabbed this book from the bookshelf hoping to sort out my messy and hectic life and mundane chores. However, I ended up completing it in a week without learning anything new, because almost everything the author mentioned was heard or read by me before. Even you can just go through the key points of Ikigai mentioned in the end of the book, saving yourself from the pain of reading the whole book. -Ten Rules The first rule is to stay active and busy in your life, as there is no age for retirement. If you keep moving your body and keep chasing your goals or aims, you may live longer and happier. The second one is to take everything slow and absorb each and everything in your surroundings. In this technological era, we have tens of distractions in our daily lives, but the author recommends practicing mindfulness, focusing on one task at a time rather than messing up multiple things and compromising your productivity. The third one is not overeating and also eating something healthy. The fourth one covers the importance of surrounding yourself with those who are passionate and have nerdy genes. The fifth one addresses keeping your body in good shape by doing regular exercise and walking. The sixth one is indeed important, which is to keep smiling because a cheerful smile with brushed teeth can be relaxing. The seventh one is connecting with nature. I personally think that we should spend some time in the jungle or somewhere where it's just you and Mother Nature in sheer silence. The eighth one is to be grateful for what you have. Maybe you are living someone else's dreams, and it's also important to show gratitude to those who helped you in any case. The ninth one is to live in the present. Brianna's recent read- The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo (and pictured is my @illumicrate edition) I loved this book! I love seeing representation of the less known Jewish languages so I was thrilled to see Ladino used here, and I also just love a Jewish story like I was always happy that Alex Stern is Jewish (and those books also include some Ladino) but the familiar gives us so much more! I'm honestly not a big fan of historical fiction or fantasy, but funnily enough I tend to enjoy historical fantasy. I think that urban fantasy works better for me, and then the magical realism elements add enough intrigue to historical fiction to make it more interesting for me, so it just works. This book takes place during the Spanish Inquisition and it gets very dark in some places, it's a heavy story and definitely takes a bit to get into. I did find myself wishing that there was more focus on character development in the first half, but by the time I actually finished the book I felt satisfied. The story is about a young woman named Luzia who is a scullion living in Madrid, working for a pretty lower class family. When the lady she works for finds out she can do magic, she wants to use it to her advantage, to raise her station, and it sets them on a dark and complicated path when powerful men find out about it and want to use Luzia to gain more power themselves. Zestawienie niosące za sobą...no właśnie, czy miłość może zaszkodzić długoletniej przyjaźni? Czy miłość to sztywne ramy i zawsze musi być akuratnie? Tak jak oczekują wszyscy? A co jeśli wymknie się w stronę tę z góry skazaną na niezrozumienie? Here, she met all kinds of people who quit their jobs for various reason and follow the life that it to lead. She also quit her job. Afterwards, she started this bookshop. When she started this bookshop, she didn't know whether it would end one day or become part of her life. 📓Mincheol, a school boy, son of Hee Joo who was not interested in anything. He was forced to visit Hyunam-dong bookshop every week by his mother. From my observation, he knows what he wants to do in his life and speaks his mind. Later his decision not to pursue a degree. Was it okay? A very straightforward person I like his personality. 📓Hee Joo, was the head of Mother's club. In the initial session, when the mothers introduce themselves as either someone's wife or someone's mother. So, Hee Joo made them to re-introduced themselves by their names. As a mother, they forgot their own identify in later life. They lives for others. Here, the author beautifully described their feelings when they were freely talk about their worries, wishes and goals. It's satisfying. This club reminds me of 'The Liberation Notes' drama. There is a club called "Liberation club". Both are give same vibes. 📓Another inquisitive person in this bookshop was Jungsuh. When she told about her life, why she had quit her job and how her mental state was broken. It shows the worklife culture in Korea. It was sad but reality. 📓Finally, the person I want to talk about is Seung Woo, a person who was interested in Yeongju. The love portion was short, but it carries enough story to spoke. Happy ending guys. Moral- Do what you love. The con is its slow pace; In the middle, I wanted to stop reading it. Why did the author write it in this style? ｜#館長推薦｜聆聽敘事之外的樂音，再把真正的旋律譜寫成文字 如果說，理解作家文字的第一步是「閱讀」文字，那麼接下來更進一步的就是「聆聽」；語言的轉譯就像是一種魔法，作品在被翻譯定稿之前，譯者必須深入作品之中，更多時候甚至是要深入探究到作家的內在。 村上的書寫時常把爵士樂、古典樂的元素放入，也會將樂句或曲式轉化成故事的結構和輪廓，當一般讀者還在理解文字的階段，或許就已經開始感到有些迷惘。但或許你可以先從他的收藏選曲開始聽起，像是《#村上私藏 懷舊美好的古典樂唱片1+2》。 我還記得當年站在書局，翻了《螢火蟲》、《電視人》和《麵包店再襲擊》，買下《遇見100%的女孩》、《 #1973年的彈珠玩具》、《#世界末日與冷酷異境》的日子，對於故事還有些一知半解，更不用說那時的我根本還不懂日文。 記得在國文課的讀書心得報告，寫下幾篇村上作品的讀後感，那個時期的我，莫名被一股鬱悶、低落的情緒圍繞。多年後，開始有些理解，那些翻譯文字背後的問題，還有其實可以從音樂的角度去讀的方法。 《聽見100％的村上春樹》寫的是村上的事，但我讀到的卻是更多關於他的英語譯者魯賓，對於「村上」的人生觀、寫作觀，小說中的世界觀等的深探與理解。並不是每一部村上的作品都是那麼寫實，很多抽象或者不那麼好的也有。 如果把創作的歷程，跟現實當中所遭遇到的轉變帶入，其實是可以更理解某些作品的嘗試跟背景。就我自己而言，《#舞舞舞》、《#地下鐵事件》和《#發條鳥年代記》可能更適合現在的我來閱讀。 譯者做了多少功課，如何用不同語言來翻譯和詮釋，其實從魯賓的這本著作當中就可以窺見一二。很可惜，研究村上的學者很多，能做出同樣回應的譯者很少。我很樂見有不同的譯者，能有機會重新詮釋村上，也許還包括我自己。 ——你第一次認識村上是透過哪一本書呢？ 《聽見100％的村上春樹》傑．魯賓（Jay Rubin）◎著， @readingtimes_trendage #時報出版 #bookwithflowers #bookreview #flowerarrangement #bookreading
