Little bluets (Houstonia caerulea) are now dusting hillsides, pastures, and median strips throughout New England. Growing only a few inches high, little bluets carpet the ground in drifts of tiny, four-petaled white, pink, or bluish flowers with yellow centers. Though it's the most widespread and common species of Houstonia in New England, little bluet also has two kin here: Long-leaved bluet (Houstonia longifolia)—rare or historical in the region, depending on the state—reaches four to ten inches in height. The flowers are pale purplish pink to white. Large bluet (H. purpurea) inhabits four of the six New England states and, like little bluet, is common, although not as widespread as little bluet. Large bluet closely resembles its less common relative, H. longifolia. H. purpurea distinguishes ieself with leaves along the stem that are wider and rounded at the base, with sepals that are longer when the flowers are in bloom. It's colour means this peperomia has a rather autumnal feel to be sharing in spring, but it has been growing well, and I wanted to document that. I find this particular peperomia grows better for me in high humidity. This plant lives in my xstream, but I also have small plants of it in my cabinet and on my bathroom windowsill because I'm trying to see if I can acclimate it to lower humidity. The one in the xstream is also in the warmest conditions. Monstera Aurea✨ I had originally got this plant off Facebook marketplace for $25, it was only one leaf. It had absolutely no will to live and got root rot twice, lost all of its roots.
