On April 20th we had the celebration of life for my wonderful Aunt Cathy who passed away just before Christmas. It was an incredibly sad, but also uplifting day as we remembered all the reasons we love her. I know her spirit will be carried on by all those whose lives she touched. But even on that incredibly sad day, after so many years were shed, I found it impossible to stay sad because this little girl here reminded me of all of the blessings I have in this life, all of the ways my Aunt Cathy blessed me, and all I still have to look forward to in this life. This tiny human who was named after me has the whole world at her fingertips, and it just isn’t possible to stay sad when she deserves a world of optimism and happiness. Sensitive post: Today I am 10w5d pregnant!! Sunday will be two weeks away from the second trimester!! It is absolutely surreal to think how far our little baby has come—surviving retrieval, fertilization, making it to blast stage, surviving PGT and being PGT normal, surviving freezing/thawing, transferring and implanting successfully, yolk/gestational sac/fetal pole/heartbeat and now thriving/growing!! I take the time to acknowledge and celebrate all of these milestones because I still struggle most days, being haunted by the loss of our angel baby. I am slowly starting to feel more connected to this pregnancy. I am finding myself touching my belly and talking to baby more. I noticed the other day that I hadn’t really taken any bump (let’s be honest it’s bloat lol) pictures with this pregnancy—our previous I started photographing my body’s changes very early. I have however, been talking about and celebrating all the fun and exciting things that we will get to enjoy/experience with our baby. As far as updates, baby is doing amazing! Growing appropriately. Strong heartbeat of 168 yesterday. I got to meet my OB, who is absolutely wonderful!! She runs the high risk clinic, so I feel like I am in very good hands!! I am going for my 1 hour glucose test tomorrow. All my other labs were good and/or as expected. I will have a 14 week early anatomy scan with MFM scheduled for a few weeks from now. I will also do a consult with hematology to see about doing an iron transfusion to get me off the supplements. I have been debating on when to announce this pregnancy (close family and friends know already)—last pregnancy I made the decision to announce early and just a short week later we got the bad news. I am starting to feel more confident with each passing week and each positive ultrasound. This was me at Lowe’s, buying red & blue columbine! I brought them home, gave them a 5 minute soak completely submerged in a bucket of water, and they bounced right back! (I may have sang to them a little 😊). They’ll go in the ground today! While columbine is a rather hardy plant, it’s considered a “short lived perennial”, meaning the og plant will probably die off in 3-4 years. It blooms from March-July. However, at the end of their blooming season in early - mid autumn, columbine self -seeds, so hopefully you get new plant babes next year! The other part that’s a bitch is the hyper mobility and all my parts wanting to just extend their “normal” way, which is anything but normal. Progress is Progress 🙏🏻 29.10.22 (Below) Was My first check in that I decided to see if I could get stage ready. Top was my last check in adhering to my plan 11 weeks out. I’ve decided to postpone my show and focus on growing as I was full of self doubt and things going on in my personal life I was finding affecting results and mindset. I feel my body composition is a lot better than where I became and taking this as a positive. Of course I’m gutted I didn’t see it through but I don’t believe it’s the right thing for me to do with so much doubt on the cards- I want to feel like I deserve to be in the line up and I’m not quite where I’d like to be for that just yet. I just want to be the best person I can be body & mind for my babies and myself.
