We started our Walt Disney World experience STRONG with spending the weekend at Disney Springs! Our first night that we arrived, we had dinner at The Edison, and it was hands down one of our top 5 experiences of the whole trip!! The food was incredible and the entertainment was amazing (we also were sat directly in front of the stage🤩). We got to visit World of Disney after dinner (def cried😅) and walked around a bit. The next day, we spent the entire day exploring Disney Springs and doing lots of shopping! We got to see the Amphicar in action, which was super fun! That night, we had dinner at Maria & Enzo’s. Kenny couldn’t stop talking about their bread the rest of the trip 😂 Some other fun highlights were eating desserts from Aristocrepes while watching the Rainforest Cafe volcano erupt, getting a fresh pearl out of an oyster from the Pearl Factory, and looking at all of the 50th anniversary merch in person❤️ We were super impressed with Disney Springs and would definitely like to go back there one day!✨ Do you have fun memories at Disney Springs?

DISNEY TRIP, day 3 Disney Springs Today we confirmed a long standing belief that I have difficulty with a rest day, that public pools are decidedly not my thing and that the onset of food bloggers raising the demand for “hot spot” food items has raised baked goods to an anxiety inciting experience that should not accompany any confection. If you do Disney like we do Disney (and like many people who don’t go to Disney yearly have to do Disney) you need a rest day. Park ticket prices (see: dads walking around somewhat prophetic with their “most expensive day ever” tshirts next to wives sporting their “best day ever” tshirts) make most families feel like you have to get the most out of every day! This can mean long hours (and tired swollen feet). Wednesday was our day to sleep in. To put the feet up. To float in the community pool. To eat leisurely and enjoy some shopping. Walking into the public pool area was an exercise in contrasts. The kids immediately whooped “awww yea!” as I muttered “ohhhnooo”. No where to sit. Potential for foot fungus everywhere. Want an inner tube? Rent an inner tube! From the moment we set foot inside I was counting down the minutes until we could leave. Or. More accurately. I was planning our next move. Emma, aka Disney food blogs next big thing (in her mind, friends, no current contracts) had a laundry list of decadence that we could supposedly check off at Disney Springs, where we were eating dinner. The problem is that you can’t just order food and eat it. It’s an EXPERIENCE. You have to show up early. Get in virtual cues and come back when called. Cool cool cool unless you have anything else planned. And if you’re me, there’s always something else planned and someone you’re worried about being upset and so the coordination needed to secure Emma a spot inside the famed Gideon’s Bakehouse (home of the 1/2 pound cookie) nearly brought me to my knees with panic. (Cue Tony hiding his eye roll and repeating over and over - this is literally not a big deal in any way - It will all be fine) And. It was.

Fun day at Disney 🎈 We stayed at Fort Wilderness at Disney and enjoyed our next day with mini golf, the pool and dinner in Disney Springs! Fort Wilderness is an RV Park on Disney property. It is HUGE! They don’t have parking at most places for cars, so the majority of people are buzzing around on golf carts. Bikes would be another good option! We drove to Fantasia Gardens for mini golf then came back to Fort Wilderness to swim in the pool. It is a beautiful heated pool with a water slide that the kids loved! We went into Disney Springs for the evening. Note: There are temperature checks to get into Disney Springs as well. We had dinner at the Boathouse and grabbed a salted caramel bubble waffle from Aristocrepes for dessert! Yum! Great way to recharge between days in the parks!

Salted Caramel Bubble Waffle from Aristocrepes in Disney Springs. Um, one and done for this dessert freak. I was really excited about this but it did not live up to my expectations. The bubble waffle was warm and made fresh. It was really tasty, fluffy and had the nice crisp outside. It was topped with delicious, high quality chocolate ice cream. Then caramel and chocolate sauce that I don’t even remember tasting. The whipped cream was good because -well - it’s whipped cream! The chocolate covered pretzels were a tad stale. As far as individual ingredients, it was all fine. My complaint was how soggy the waffle got under the ice cream. Ice cream does not belong on top of some pastries - donuts, waffles... too soggy. The remaining waffle that was in the middle of the boat was just soaked in ice cream and gross. I don’t throw dessert away, but some waffle made it in the trash. Moment of silence. 😢 It was large and shareable (but I DO NOT share dessert😂) and at $8.99, it wasn’t worth it. Maybe it the waffle was separate? Are you a salted caramel person? I LOVE pretty much anything caramel (including salted caramel). Just don’t straight up pour a bunch of salt on it and we’re good 😉. You can get this beauty from AristoCrêpes located on the east side of Disney Springs by Rainforest Cafe and Goofy’s Candy Co.! Salted Caramel Bubble Waffle: bubble waffle topped with chocolate ice cream, chocolate covered pretzels, whipped cream, crispy pearls, and caramel sauce ($8.99) I would say this was like a 3.5/5. The waffle was very good and I loved the addition of the chocolate covered pretzels (who wouldn’t??), but I didn’t taste hardly any caramel. I would probably order it again, but I would definitely ask for extra caramel sauce!

Continuing my 30th birthday weekend, Dahlia & I spent Saturday morning eating breakfast from Sanaa on our balcony with the giraffes. We took the bus to Disney Springs & enjoyed French poutine from The Daily Poutine & salted caramel bubble waffles from AristoCrepes. That evening my parents met us for dinner at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ to celebrate my mom’s birthday along with mine. •••••• Sanaa’s Boere Breakfast was two cage-free eggs with African home fries, Boerewors sausage, bacon, & coconut drop biscuits. •••••• For starters at Homecomin’ we had hush puppies with pimento cheese & jalapeño jelly. Then I enjoyed Chef Art Smith’s famous fried chicken with house-made donuts & loaded mashed potatoes. Had the most wonderful night with friends at @disneysprings trying all of the cute new fall desserts! The weather was INCREDIBLE & we started out with dinner on the patio and conversation at @chickenguy. Mark loved his grilled tenders and I had the mac daddy mac n 🧀 After dinner we strolled down to #amorettespatisserie where we tried the Pumpkin minnie mousse( #1) Candle petit( #2) & the pumpkin cremé brulee ( #3). They were all delicious-- but my favorite was the mousse-- it was pumpkin/marshmallow & carrot cake, HIGHLY RECOMMEND & bring a friend or 2 for sharing! We stopped at Starbucks and they have a bunch of fun drink options available, that seem to be disney springs specific! I got the Robert brownie Jr. ---chocolate, brownie, Mocha. Pretty good--this only comes in venti and was $10! I definitely prefer fruity drinks (which I will get next time) but the barista said this one was most popular --so I gave it a try ;) Then it was off to #goofycandyCo, I got Julian the pumpkin pie rice krispie treat! BEWARE 🦇 It does taste like pumpkin spice, I thought it was regular krispie, just in a cute pie shape 😂 I was wrong-- Jules wasn't a fan! Another in our group had the pumpkin cupcake, which we found out, is not made with pumpkin 🤔 Just over the bridge @disneymom2.0 had the oogie boogie mint sundae from #aristocrepes! We also made a stop into @erinmckennasbakery and #theganachery, where I was too stuffed to get the smore, again 😭 they had some super cool gold caramel skulls and a Frankenstein chocolate full of marshmallow treats! Overall, the fall dessert options are pretty impressive!
