August started with drought like conditions & mid 90s temps 🥵 💦mid month we gratefully received some much needed rain & the rain water tank is full again, yay! 🌬️last week i felt a glimpse of autumn in the air. ⛈️ we’re ending the month with rain & wind bands from Hurricane Idalia. Keeping all in its path in my thoughts. & a second 🌝 tonight 🦉we enjoyed many evenings watching the screech owl hunt at dusk. I’ve been on a juicing kick, loving juicing all the different varieties of Turmeric & Ginger leaves combined with Moringa, Leaf or Life & Tindora from the garden. Compost is close to ready for the fall veggie patches and I will be chopping back their cover crops asap. I set aside this months vermicompost harvest 🪱 for the veg patches too. Sowed a few seeds in pots 🍉🎃 🍅& direct sowed some flowers 🌻🌼. Will direct sow lots greens & herbs & flowers next month 🌱 Pruned the mango tree & am leaving the rest of the fruit trees be this year as they were well pruned last year after Hurricane Ian. But friendly reminder to prune your tropical fruit trees soon, if/when they are done fruiting. ☀️Soaking up all that’s left of my favorite season💛
