Començant pel convent dels dominics, l'ordre dels predicadors o dominics havia assolit un gran protagonisme en el context de l’enfrontament de l’Església catòlica contra el catarisme, que es va implantar amb força a l’entorn de la Seu d’Urgell a partir del segle XIII. Passant pel convent de l’Orde de les Religioses de Nostra Senyora de la Companyia de Maria, iniciativa del bisbe urgellenc Simeó de la Guinda y Apeztegui, l’any 1722 i l’església conventual de Sant Agustí d’estil gòtic. “El edificio fue construido poco después de la fundación de la ciudad de Granda. En sus inicios las paredes de la iglesia estaban hechas de madera y el techo de palos. Este edificio se quemó en 1685 y luego fue reconstruido en un estilo romántico y más sólido. Las tropas de William Walker dañaron el edificio una vez más en 1856. En 1885, casi todo el edificio sufrió una transformación y sus últimos cambios se ejecutaron en el año 1939. La fachada de la Iglesia tiene un estilo neoclásico y su interior es romántico. El Convento San Francisco está localizado junto a la iglesia y funciona actualmente como museo. El convento San Francisco es la construcción de mayor antigüedad de la ciudad de Granada, instaurada en 1524 por Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, la fundación de dicho inmueble data de 1529 bajo el nombre de Inmaculada Concepción de María por Fray Toribio de Benavente, eclesiástico de la orden franciscana, conocido por su sencillez y pobreza; el convento fue inicialmente construido con paredes de madera y techo de paja. Todo parece indicar que el templo y convento de San Francisco actualmente ocupan el mismo lugar de su fundación. Algunos historiadores señalan que ahí vivió y predicó Fray Bartolomé de las Casas, protector de los indios en 1536 quien enfatizaba en sus mensajes en contra de la quinta expedición al Rio San Juan, comandada por el capitán Diego Machuca de Suazo. Del Antiguo convento e Iglesia se conservan cuatro imágenes antiguas y de mucho valor artístico: la imagen de la Virgen del Rosario (s. While Iona is the site of a world-famous abbey (I’m hearing French, German, and Italian, and American here all day long), Iona is also the site of a very interesting nunnery. It has not been rebuilt (as the abbey has, of course), nor is it a National Trust site, but it’s become a beautiful garden—and it’s free to visit! (Trying to see the bright side of capitalist patriarchy here.) Don’t forget to see the SHEELA-NA-GIG, a remnant of a prehistoric stone carving of a woman with her legs spread, her vulva wide open, a representation of the Goddess, possibly part of the site’s Druidic past. Remains of all-female burying have been found here dating back to the days before St. Columba even set foot on this island. I was so excited to stumble upon this artifact, after learning a while back that these Sheelas can be found all over Europe. This one is quite worn—as it was on the exterior of the building! 👀Gutsy. 😊 And it has since been subject to the elements since about 1200 when the Nunnery was first built, same time as the abbey by the way. Columba came here in 563 and established the Abbey, but it was abandoned a few centuries later because of all of the Viking attacks (and the Book of Kells removed to Ireland.) A Benedictine abbey was built on the site in 1200 and the nunnery virtually next door. Someone should absolutely set a novel or film here. Mimo wszystko bawiłam się naprawdę super!💖 Spędziłam cudowny czas ze swoimi znajomymi i przyjaciółmi, w końcu wyszłam "do ludzi"😂 w cosplayu oraz po raz pierwszy pokazałam się w SG Gwen🥺 a także wraz z @thepuddinsphoto zrobiliśmy jej porządną sesję zdjęciową na jaką zasługiwała✨💜 Poznałam kilkoro nowych, super ludzi, a także pierwszy raz w życiu zagrałam w planszówkę typu RPG(?) od @ikfcerber jak i z jej członkami😆 Nie może być jednak zbyt kolorowo, ponieważ event miał swoje minusy. EL MERCADO ÍCONO DE AREQUIPA Cuando se habla de visitar Arequipa, se mencionan cañones, volcanes, conventos y el Mercado San Camilo. No es para menos, se trata del centro de abastos más antiguo de la ciudad. Su historia comienza con un terremoto en 1868, anteriormente en el lugar se encontraba la iglesia de San Camilo, la cual fue abandonada hasta que en 1938 se inauguró el mercado. In 1933, the Convent of S. Eufemia, situated in the Alessandrina area, was demolished in order to promote the excavations of Trajan’s market. The frescoe, showing the Samaritan at the well, was painted by an unknown artist of the circle of Pietro da Cortona and commissioned by the Pamphilj family, protectors of the community. The mural painting was saved and strapped from its original setting in a space close to the nuns’ refectory during the demolition of the convent.
