Before the gothic dream pop group found cult success with 1989 EP ‘Self-Non-Self’, they released their debut effort as a very limited cassette. Inspired by industrial, experimental rock, no wave, and ambient, ‘Fuse’ is easily the band’s most challenging work, but the Abbey Road remastering sharpens its rougher edges while keeping its atmosphere intact. The Soundcarriers - ‘Celeste’ - Excellent psych-pop, touches of Broadcast/Ghost Box by way of handy reference. I’m in two minds about the Soundcarriers reissuing their catalogue in new sleeves. I know it happens all the time with books, but it’s never sat right with records. I guess because a good record sleeve can end up iconic, or at least an integral part of how you experience an album. I’ve seen a comment that the band didn’t have rights to the artwork for reissues (not totally surprising for the album they released on Ghost Box, given how integral Julian House’s art is to the label aesthetic) so just decided to update them on a uniform basis. Fair enough. We haven’t had this one on the shelves for over a decade, so we’re very pleased to announce we’ll be getting one of the best back in from the Nottingham psychedelia group. You’ll be treated to two eggs-cellent records (ft. five bonus tracks), an A3 poster, unseen photos and new liner notes, a numbered sleeve, and an obi-strip. If you’ve not yet familiarised yourself with The Soundcarriers, then ‘Celeste’ is a great entry point into their kaleidoscopic world of late 1960s psych-pop, indie-electronic, and kosmische grooves.

Announcing #DinkedArchive Edition No 10 The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - Horse Of The Dog Dinked Archive Edition No. 11 features : "Corona colour” splatter LP (original album) Clear vinyl LP (B-sides compilation) Mirror board sleeve 12 x 12 insert with liner notes by Edgar Wright Numbered obi-strip Limited pressing of 700 In the early 2000s, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster emerged with a black-hearted blast of frenetic psychobilly, punk and goth that felt like a closing time punch-up between The Birthday Party, The Cramps and The Make-Up. Their lunatic intensity was best captured within their first two albums, 2002’s ‘Hörse of the Dög’ and 2004’s ‘The Royal Society’, both of which remain adored as cult classics to this day by a fanbase still addicted by their visceral, riotous noise rock. One of the band’s biggest fans is the film director Edgar Wright, who directed the music video for their song ‘Psychosis Safari’ as he was working on his own cult classic, ‘Shaun of the Dead’. Still a fan to this day, Wright has penned the accompanying liner notes that will feature in all physical versions of the reissue. He writes: "Behold an album too fast to live, but too young to ever die.
