Mallorca Ironman 70.3 - swim . Nothing will ever prepare you for the atmosphere and energy at the start of an ironman event, particularly when you’re surrounded by c.3500 other participants on the beach with the sun rising and the organisers giving their motivation speech. . To top it off, I somehow was lucky enough to see Clive, Eloise and mum as I was leaving my pen to go the the waters edge, amongst massive crowds. If I didn’t have tears in my eyes before, I certainly did after getting to hug them! . It was a beach rolling start with 5 athletes set off every 5 seconds. As soon as I got in the water and started swimming I felt great. I tried to really focus on keeping in a straight line and not wasting time and energy swimming off course. It was actually quite interesting how many people seemed to be swimming really wide and far away from the buoys. . I was also surprised at how busy it constantly was. I thought eventually everyone would spread out, but I rarely had clear water and often was battling arms and legs. I’m pretty pleased with how I coped with this and just kept my focus, stood my ground, and tried to find feet to follow where I could. . Having only managed to fit in 1-2 swims per week, I wasn’t expecting record breaking times so to come out with one of my best average swim paces for a post Eloise tri, I was pretty chuffed! . Overall I loved this part of the race. The bay is gorgeous to swim in and the buzz was just incredible 💙 . #torqfuelled #easportingchampions

Juggling training for a half ironman with a 2 year old was not in the original plan... But thanks to Covid and race cancellations, then the arrival of Eloise 🩷, this was what we had to roll with! A big change in direction with training being squeezed in when I could - mainly in the evenings once Eloise had gone to bed, and most of my long rides were back from a family parkrun tourism trip 😂 and often feeling the mum guilt whilst I was out. Accepting I wouldn’t be doing the volumes I once was, but instead doing it for the love of the sport and being the best version of myself and role model for Eloise 💪🏼 I had tears in my eyes as I lined up to start and I had tears in my eyes running down the red carpet (swear I am more soppy since having Eloise 🙈😂). This one did mean a lot though. . A massive thank you to everyone who has been supporting me on the journey here and on the day itself - either in person or virtually. Wow what an evening at the first match of the Veterans Athletics League. Was great to see so many friends and all the teams did brilliantly. 5 years ago it was the World Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra 🇪🇸 don't quite know where the time has gone! . Throughout this whole journey @everyoneactive have supported me via the @easportingchamps programme. More recently even during my pregnancy and then my post partum return to racing too - achieving GB Age Group qualification (European Sprint Tri Champs 2024 and World Standard Aquabike Champs 2024). . #triathlontuesday (is that even a hashtag 🤷🏼♀️😂 I was going to do #medalmonday but never got chance to post yesterday 🙈) . On Sunday it was one of my favourite races of the year - the local Southam Sprint triathlon. I always enjoy this one as it's super friendly, low key and a bit of low pressure fun 🩷 . Due to road works, they had changed the bike route and even though I woke up in the night thinking I should put the route on my Garmin so I don't go wrong, I didn't as I knew its a well sign posted route with bright yellow arrows... Well... Classic Hels... Of course I still went wrong 🤦🏼♀️ an extra 2-3km error... 🙄 doh! . Despite that pretty frustrating mistake, it was still a really fun morning and I finished 3rd overall. Made even better by an awesome support crew 🩷🦄 and getting to meet the lovely @laurabellever 🥰 . Next up is the big race in a few weeks time 😬🇪🇸 . #torqfuelled #easportingchampions

Pretty emotional crossing that finishing line yesterday (although you can’t see from the blurry photo 😅). Running a sub-3hr marathon has been a bit of a dream for a while that I refused to believe would become reality until the very final stages of the race - that racing blue line got a good stare from me for most of the race 😂! Thank you for all the support out on course - great to see friends old and new - which really spurred me on. However it was almost as emotional as crossing the finishing line seeing all the messages from family tracking me every step of the way ❤️. @matthann1 getting the kids to write down my splits on a map while taking them out on their own marathon cycle ride 🥰 🙏 So proud of long-suffering (running) partner in crime @runningfeatlucy for showing such strength to get to the finishing line with an upset tummy. Day 1 update Disappointing day for us in the Adult Male I Dan Patterns. Despite one of his best performances, George 🏴 lost by a split decision to the eventual Bronze medalist Mykyta Skorokhodov from Ukraine 🇺🇦 Not the result we wanted but reassuring to see that the hard work George has put in is showing through increased power and better technical accuracy. When somebody has to go to urgent care on Tuesday morning because of her ankle that she hurt over a week ago and she explains to the Dr you have an important competition at the weekend. The response from hospital if you stay off it for the rest of the week and you MIGHT be ok to compete if you strap up and take it easy 🤔🤔. Well she was determined that she was going to compete, so she did as the Dr told her (shock!! 😂) no training,no weight bearing, was on crutches for the rest of the week, came home from school and sat elevated and icing it all so she could compete today! She worked her socks off. 45 people in her patterns category, she came 3rd. Around 20+ in her sparring category tough fights, she came 1st. Then it was team sparring with @idk.aimie and @llucyheaton …..they were amazing together with 12/14 teams they came 1st 🥇 and finally team patterns the girls Mylee, Megan and Wicktoria only practiced together twice this morning and they earned a Bronze medal. Felt really strong this morning at the Intercounty 20 mile Championships - a competitive field, a fast & flat course, and @eventsatw ‘s usual friendly atmosphere at their events (loving the music by decade blasting out at various points along the course!) certainly helped. Over the moon to finish 6th lady in a new club V35 record with the Herts ladies coming 🥈🎉. Lots of hard work gone into that one after a few setbacks earlier on this year. As you all know it’s been a busy year so far for me, what with GCSE revision for mocks and soon my actual GCSE’s but I’ve also been working hard to become a JNCO at @aircadets. The last parade night all my hard work paid off after my board on Tuesday I’ve been promoted to Corporal. The Berkhampsted Half Marathon was as beautiful and tough a course as I remembered from last running it 10 years ago 😳.
