Sometimes I feel like I don’t know my own body anymore. The drop off in speed and power going from my late 40s to early 50s has been shocking and humbling. Logically I know aging, perimenopause, and life stress all contribute, and I should be grateful for what I can still do - but darnit it is frustrating. My first outdoor ride a couple weeks ago averaged a much slower speed and lower power than previous years, but in retrospect it may have been partly due to riding my new bike + bad weather. Granted I was in a wetsuit, vs their swim skin, but super stoked with that result! The bike was so tough. Battling the headwinds solo meant I properly overcooked myself and had to take my foot off the gas for the last stretch back to T2 in order to even consider being ok to run. The run was a death march from the get go - more because of the heat than the actual intensity. It was a case of mind over matter, one foot in front of the other, and get to the finish line ASAP. 9hr 42mins. I. AM. New level reached in @gozwift which earned me some vintage gloves. I’ll have to check them out in my garage. Did a 20 mile ride of pyramid intervals spending a decent chunk of the ride in zones 3 and 4. Off the bike I did a mile run that felt surprisingly light and fast. With a little over a month until race day, I’m really focusing on making sure I’m dotting all my i’s and crossing the t’s over the new few weeks. 3 Lugar categoría 18-24 y Obteníamos Clasificación para el Mundial. De lo ocurrido hoy sólo puedo darle gracias a Dios y a todos los que me apoyan es esto del triatlón, es un deporte muy bonito y que disfruto mucho. Gracias a toda mi familia por apoyarme y darme la oportunidad de compartir esto con ellos. Al equipo @delta.team__ y las personas que lo forman, mencionarlas no habría todo el espacio, que me vienen formando y aconsejando durante todo el proceso. A todos mis coach que me aconsejaron @fermoralescoach_ @juansebastian.moralesrengifo @dano0729 @stephatobon que están siempre en son de mejorar y superarse. Y las mejores fisios @jeimi_luna @karolopz20 y a toda la familia @350vatios que me apoyaron desde el inicio y me llevan al mejor nivel. La carrera estuvo muy dura, hubo una natación con mucha corriente que estaba a favor y en contra, desde el regreso en ciclismo fue exigente y esa exigencia me cobró en el trote. Ocurrieron unos percances donde se me hacia difícil correr y después del km 10 iba incómodo y el trote que es el que más se me da no pude disfrutarlo como quería. Y cuando @alejo_domes712 me dice que iba de 3 ya casi llegando a la meta y miro atrás y no hay nadie, me relajo para llegar completo. week 16 recap 🌸🚀⭐️🧘🏻♀️🍭 holy moly how are we here. one week until race day. I can’t believe it. this week the nerves well and truly set in. being nervous is a totally normal feeling but it’s made me reflect a lot. what if I can’t do it? what if I don’t go fast enough? honestly just acknowledging that these thoughts exist in my mind has been the biggest help. once I said them out loud or wrote them down I noticed how insignificant they are. I know I can do this race. I have done the training, I am prepared and the race is just the icing on the cake - a chance to celebrate all the hard work with people I love. I have no time to compare to. Only I will know if I’ve put in the effort I want to on race day. highlights this week: 🌸enjoyed the slightly shorter sessions of taper week 🌸public holiday pizza and sunset 🌸run club with friends who hype you up 🌸signing up for a very exciting race in July 🤫 🌸modelling gig with Speedo 🌸chilly sydney mornings made better by speccy sunrises 🌸when coach puts ‘coffee and cake’ on the program one more week of resting, visualising the race, packing and then it’s off to port mac on friday!! Petit retour sur tout ce que j’ai enquillé dans le gosier pendant ce Half Ironman en 🇪🇸 : ⏰➡️ un bon petit dej pas trop lourd avec de la tortilla de patata, une banane et du pain 🍳🥔🍌🥖 🏊♂️➡️ 1/2 barre TĀ avant le départ 🍫 🚴♂️➡️ 3 bidons avec 1 comprenant 2 dose de boisson ISO TĀ, 1 comprenant 1 dose de boisson ISO + pastille électrolytes TĀ et 1 comprenant juste 1 pastille électrolytes TĀ 🥤. 2 paquets de bonbons TĀ (=6 bonbons) 🍬. 2 barres TĀ 🍫. 2 compotes 🍏 🏃♂️➡️ 1 flasque boisson ISO + 1 pastille TĀ 🥤. 3 Gels 🍬. Et facile 300ml de coca sur les ravitos 🥤 Si on fait quelques maths (sans compter le petit dej), ça donne un total de : 385g de glucides soit 85g/h 👌 Avez-vous déjà fait le calcul ? Bien et surtout suffisamment s’alimenter c’est clairement l’une des clés de la performance en compétition. Je suis assez content du plan de course sur Half. Week 5/16 Round Up 📅 🏃🏾♂️31km 🚴🏾69.84km 🏊🏽4.4km 1. Throwback to 2020 fitting my road bike in @babar.haq smart car, still using identical gear to this day - but have a slightly bigger car now! 2. Impromptu sauna suit for todays 90minute run - kept me nice and sticky 3. Watch Upgrade! Found a good deal on a Garmin Fenix 6 watch - apparently it has a 36 hour battery life so will be more than enough for the race. 4. Meal of the week - had this post 45km cycle, best chicken sandwich I’ve ever eaten but was still in a calorie deficit after it. 5. Random clip from Wednesday before work run 6-10. strava screens 6. Cycled half the IM distance for the bike around Richmond Park, felt good although don’t know how I’ll manage double the distance without a podcast on in the real thing. 7. 90min run today in the jacket felt very good - made sure to keep the HR below 170. #ironman #ironmantraining #ironmantri #ironman703 #ironmantriathlon #triathlon
