We took a nice long break from adventuring to build a house, but we are back at it and checked another NP off our list! Had a blast exploring White Sands NP! I thought it would be very similar to our experience at Great Sand Dunes NP but it was just different enough that it was well worth the trip out here! The sand is completely different and the hills are much less steep which actually made it more kid friendly. We didn’t see any animals but we did witness a military plane crash so that was interesting. It was handled beautifully by the first responder and military teams! Since we were already near the back of the park when it happened we were allowed to stay (which we were so grateful for!) but the park was shut down to other tourists.

Last week our family had a blast in in Key West! Travel was smooth and the weather was great! Key West is a walkable region which is great for burning off some of the amazing food we ate and gave us the ability to walk to many iconic destinations like the Southern Most Point of the continental U.S. On this trip we did decide to rent a golf cart. We were able to get a 6 seater that allowed us to explore more of the island. This was great because some areas were a distance from our resort and we had to be there early in the morning. If you decide to visit the keys and rent a golf cart one thing to be aware of parking can be challenging and there are lots of hidden fees to park that add up. Even so we recommend the cart if you want to explore more of the island. #explorekeywest

Have you ever heard of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park? It's an outer worldly place in China. You might recognize it from the movie Avatar. It was one of the inspirations. We spent a few days hiking though it in 2019. We hiked from what felt like one end to the other passing markets, restaurants and gondolas then back into the solace of the woods. Planning a hike in another country can sometimes be harder than what we are used to in the US. Not understanding all the logistics. I remember we got so far on the first day that if we went back to the hotel we would make it because we were too late for the gondola, the only way back down to our hotel. We decided to go to the other end of the park, book a hotel, catch a show and hike back the next day. It worked perfectly well. || Glacier National Park || Next up in our #summerdestination series is one of our all time favorite places and probably our favorite of the national parks......Glacier! From hiking to kayaking to wildlife, there is something for every outdoor enthusiast in this beautiful landscape. Glacier offers many way to stay and many ways to explore. The beauty of nature and God's creation is all encompassing here. Here are 3 things that we think should be a part of your itinerary when you visit Glacier NP: 🥾 Going to the Sun Road - this well known drive through the middle of the park normally opens sometime in July once the snow is cleared. It offers stunning viewpoints, fabulous trails, and a beautiful drive that takes you through the mountains and from one side of the park to the other. 🥾 Skyline Trail - this trailhead can be found at Logan Pass on the Going to the Sun Road and offers some of the most stunning views in the park. Although this trail can connect to others to make for a long hike, you can also hike it as an in and out and tailor it to your preferences. 🥾 Many Glacier - while the west side of the park is the busier, more visited side of the park, we would argue that the best place to visit is Many Glacier near St. Mary, MT. This park entrance offers camping, cabins, a lodge, beautiful lakes, numerous trailheads, and an abundance of wildlife. As a LOYAL @southwestair customer…hold and recommend their credit card often, and always use them when I fly domestic. I will NO LONGER be doing that, and I recommend you don’t either. My flight was cancelled by THEM and they are trying to tell me I cancelled my own flight when my entire household is still going on the trip. Makes no sense at all. After talking with the incredibly unhelpful staff and getting nowhere other than telling me I now have to book at the current rate that is 5 TIMES the amount I originally paid. @southwestair needs to do better…especially to someone who supports them the way I have. Our last night at sea 🌊 This week was chaotic at times, but no more chaotic than being at home, at least here there’s sun and i don’t have to do the dishes. This was definitely the best cruise we’ve done with the kids, this ship is beautiful, so much for the kids to, the pools were never crowded like other ships I’ve been on, the water park area was perfect for my kids ages, isla wasn’t tall enough to do the Rollercoaster or the ropes course. The best port day we had was amber cove, We swam with dolphins and went snorkelling, followed by an afternoon at the beach. The dr.suess breakfast was adorable, we had our first green eggs and ham, visits with thing 1&2 and other Suess characters. We’ve consumed a sick amount of ice cream this week 😅 And ended every night with a movie night . overall a super fun family week. If you want the best côte du boeuf in La Plagne, then you've gotta visit Petit Chaperon Rouge. In Plagne 1800, just across the ski slopes from the village, this restaurant has all the atmosphere you could want from a rustic, Alpine restaurant. They specialise in steaks and meat, and the best part is that they are cooked on the open fire, in the middle of the restaurant. My kids were obsessed with watching our huge côte du boeuf cooking on the fireplace! You'll also find the Savoyard classics and a good kids menu. I would say this isn't a restaurant for the veggies out there. I'd recommend booking ahead because they get busy. This is a venue popular with visitors and those that live here. || easter || We had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Easter in the North Georgia mountains at a beautiful rv resort that has become home to us in this season. Kevin was honored to have the opportunity to lead a sunrise Easter service at the resort. As he shared the hope of the resurrection, we watched the sun peek out from behind the mountains in a stunning display of creation. The rest of our day was spent with friends who have become more like family. What a great day! Prior to our cruise we signed up to be part of a Fish Extender group. Throughout our trip we exchanged presents with the kids we were assigned to. In addition to that my kids got soooooooo much pixi dust (random surprises)! They were so excited to see what was left for them. I was blown away by the generosity of people's gifts. Their favorites were little turtles that swim/walk and they had fun using glow sticks at the nighttime shows. I crafted our door magnets myself. It was fun to see how other doors were decorated.
