W H E N // did my hands get so old? They don’t look like they used too. They’re worn and wrinkled tough and rough cracked and creased. Some would mistaken them as unloved and uncared for which may be true But only because their sole purpose for the last few years Has been TO love and TO care As a mother. These worn and wrinkled hands have spent hours soaked in water They’ve bathed my babies and held them safe as I taught them to swim They’ve washed up their favourite pink plate 3 times a day for a whole year, so it can be used for every meal They’ve wiped tears and rinsed hair, washed out wounds and scrubbed grass stains from favourite shorts These tough and rough hands have played with my babies They’ve built sandcastles and collected shells and rubbed sunscreen on their noses They’ve been covered in paint and glue, playdough and cookie dough They’ve mended knees in pants and trimmed fringes that have grown too long These cracked and creased hands have cradled and cuddled and carried my children They’ve shown a strength that I never knew I had, nursing my upset baby for hours upon hours They’ve patted the bottoms and stroked the faces and rubbed the backs until little eyes finally cave to sleep They’ve held hands on leisurely walks, on nerve wracking first days and through heavy, hard feelings My hands grew old As my kids grew up These hands are my memories As their mum Every line Every scar Each wrinkle Each spot These old hands that don’t look like they used to are the map of my children’s childhood So I’ll never forget ❤️

🤍✨HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY✨🤍 I’m not gonna lie, most years I look forward to sharing that perfectly curated smile and snuggly photo of my kids and I on this day. But this year it just felt right to go for something a little more realistic. 🤣 ✨Being a Mom is the most amazing thing in the entire world. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. It certainly isn’t all sunshine and rainbows all the time. I’m OBSESSED with my children. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t ever have hard days. ✨Some days I feel like I’m doing all the right things and nailing it. Like I’m a super Mom. Some days I feel like I’m failing miserably and like I’m demonstrating all the wrong things and setting them up for failure. It’s a trip man, this thing we call parenting. 😅 ✨I’m still learning and figuring it out every single day. I think we all are. I’m still learning lots of new things about myself in the process as well. I think we learn and grow right along with our children, which is kind of scary but also really beautiful. 🤍 ✨So here’s to figuring it out and doing our best. What I’m learning… Motivation may fade, great habits keep you going 🙌🏼 In 6️⃣ weeks I’ve lost almost 15lbs (almost 45lbs total). But I’m most proud of the girl six weeks ago that choose to trust sustainability over quick fixes, even when it scared her. I literally thought if I ate almost 200g of carbs a day I would gain weight. I remember thinking I ruined my weight loss journey because I had fries. WHAT SUSTAINABILITY HAS TAUGHT ME 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 - it’s not any certain food that makes you gain weight, it’s eating in a calorie surplus. - you can eat almost any food and still hit your macros. - including food you ENJOY makes weightloss enjoyable 🤯🤯🤯 The fact that I have been on this sustainable macros journey for 6 weeks and not binged AT ALL is mind blowing to me. Here’s to the mums who slyly jig the rules of board games so they are over quicker & those who skip wads of pages in the bedtime books because you’re absolutely done today. A nod to all the mums who give the kids lollypops in the grocery trolley & nuggets for dinner, the ones who grab drive thru brekkie on the way to school & those who hide in the pantry for some chocolate in peace. The mums who proclaim their treats are too spicy & those who lie that the park is closed today. The ones who make up an answer to simply stop them asking the questions & those who make up an excuse to decline a play date. To the mums who always let the kids watch screens for longer than laid out, the mums who give in to the pestering because they can’t stand to hear about it anymore & those who don’t follow up on yesterday’s consequences because it means you don’t get any down time. The mums who turn a blind eye, pretend not to hear & ignore the ruckus in the next room. Here’s to the birthday cake outsourcers, the safe plate servers & the pizza night fans. To the just one more mums, the weekly house cleaner mums & the maccas for dinner mums. All these micro mum choices we make each day that society deem as lazy or corner cutting are actually intentional, self preservation mum moves. Because, we cannot fking do it all. We need to take paths of least resistance. We need to be smart about where we allocate our already limited time. We need to oursource crap that we doesn’t serve us. We need to recognise when our energy stores are low & mother accordingly. We need to back ourselves, give ourselves a break, go gently & pick battles. We need to be ok with half assed and good enough and that’ll do. And we need to change the narrative. YOU ARE NOT A BAD MUM IF YOU TAKE SHORT CUTS! Love my boy, he’s too cute 💚 This is one of his favourite teddies when he’s having a bad night, my frog keeps any naughty ‘tickle bugs’ away as he calls them. I think sometimes when he’s slept on his arm and gets pins and needle he thinks there are tickle bugs on him (a reference from Dino ranch) so we told him if he gets these and frog is in bed with them he likes to have the tickle bugs for his dinner and this seems to have helped. I’m not sure if it is pins and needles or a bad dream but we like that he knows he’s knows he can call for us or cuddle his frog and it will all be better. I spent years doing all the things I was “supposed” to do to lose weight... I followed restrictive diets, spent hours doing cardio, and even tried fat-burning supplements, hoping for a quick fix. All that gave me was frustration, obsession, and results that never lasted... It wasn’t until I was one year postpartum at my heaviest weight, when I finally stopped doing what I thought I had to do, & started doing what FELT right, and everything changed. And it’s easier than anything I thought it would be. I learned to trust my body’s signals and fuel it with nutritious foods and more protein when hungry, rather than depriving myself. 4️⃣ Finding joy in movement → I stopped forcing myself to do workouts I hated and started finding activities that brought me joy. Walking with the family is my favorite. 5️⃣ Practicing self-compassion → I shifted my mindset from self-criticism to self-compassion. I learned to celebrate progress, no matter how small, and to be kind to myself on this journey. I H O P E // you remember the days that I held you instead of folding the clothes, when the piles were ignored because your comfort was my priority. The days my half eaten lunch sat on the edge of the lounge, pushed to the side because you needed me more in that moment. The hours we sat snuggled up in front of the TV, neglecting the world because you would only sleep on my chest. I hope you remember how many days we spent on your bedroom floor, plonking the same ball into the same hole in your favourite toy. Those days when we moved about the house on our knees, following the sunshine & practicing your steps. I hope you never forget how perfectly you fit nuzzled into my neck when we both lied flat on our backs watching the fan spin round & round. I hope you’ll always know that you were my priority in all my days, the amount of cuppas that went cold & dinners that were never finished seen as a product of your needs coming first. I hope you always remember sitting on my lap & sharing my meal on those nights you refused the high chair, and the mornings sharing my shower when you couldn’t bare to wait another second for me to finish up. I hope one day you’ll hear a song and be thrown back to straddling my hip while I stirred the pasta & set the table. Dances bookending the meal prep & baby snuggling between serving up. How we’d gracefully move about the kitchen like you were an extension of my body, throwing together food to feed our whole family, all with one hand from me and a carrot stick for you. I hope you one day smell a similar perfume to the one that lingered late at night, and remember us. When I’d pick you up from your cot, wipe your tears & hug you til you fell back asleep. The nights we spent cuddled up so that we could both catch some sleep, my favourite place and yours. I hope you never forget the way you started your beautiful life, completely intertwined with mine, every need met by me, your mum. But if you forget my love, do not despair, because I will remember for the both of us. These days are etched into my heart, memories that will never erase.
