Heloł! 💮Po przeczytaniu ‘Kim Jiyoung. Urodzona w 1982’ Cho Nam-Joo postanowiłam sięgnąć po zbiór opowiadań spod pióra tej koreańskiej autorki. Tym razem autorka zapoznaje nas z ośmioma historiami ośmiu zupełnie różnych od siebie kobiet. Inaczej niż w pierwszej książce, zostały tu ukazane całkiem odmienne sytuacje i problemy, które, choć mogą być nam odległe, jesteśmy w stanie zrozumieć, poczuć i utożsamić się z kobietami, których dotykają. 💮Bohaterki opowiadań są w różnym wieku, mają zupełnie inne doświadczenia, plany, marzenia. Znajdziemy tu bardziej melancholijne i wzruszające utwory, jak: „Pod śliwą” i „Zorza polarna”, ale też female rage w nieco łagodniejszym wydaniu: „Bunt”, „Drogi Oppa”, a nawet coś z nutką kryminału z przymrużeniem oka: „Panna Kim Wie”. Dlatego też każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie. 💮Moim faworytem jest „Zorza polarna”; opowieść o kobiecie, której największym marzeniem od czasów dzieciństwa było zobaczenie na żywo tego niezwykłego zjawiska natury. Z biegiem lat kobieta zapomniała o swojej fascynacji, aż do momentu, kiedy seulskim niebie dostrzega coś przypominającego aurorę. To wydarzenie ponownie wzbudza w Hyogyeong chęć zobaczenia zorzy i postanawia za wszelką cenę do tego doprowadzić. Opowiadanie jest tak naprawdę pretekstem do ukazania różnych, często dla nas dość nietypowych więzi pomiędzy kobietami. 💮Drugi utwór, który wyjątkowo do mnie trafił to „Drogi Oppa”. Jest on w formie monologu lub listu, w którym dziewczyna opisuje powody, dla których nie może przyjąć oświadczyn swojego chłopaka. Prawdopodobnie ze względu na podobny wiek i niektóre przeżycia było to dla mnie bardzo osobiste doznanie, czytanie tej historii. Utożsamiałam się z bohaterką wyjątkowo mocno i często pękało mi serce, gdy poznawałam koleje ich związku. While architecturally and aesthetically marvelous, the monasteries of Meteora present clear examples of gender discrimination and gender bias. The monasteries enforce binary cisgender heteronormative hegemony. Their requirements reinforce gender stereotypes founded upon patriarchy. Food insecurity is a rising issue globally. Food insecurity is when one does not have access to a sufficient and sustainable food source to meet one’s basic needs. Rural areas especially face food insecurity. These articles and journals discuss food insecurity in South Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, as well as America focusing on how it impacts women. They focus on rural areas because those regions are most likely to face this. Women are more likely to be experiencing food insecurity than men because of several factors including social, cultural, legal, and psychological factors. In South Africa, studies have shown that 64% of households are food insecure. Many regions in South Africa are run by male dominated policy makers. There are policies to help male headed households with food insecurity because it is easier for men to find work and make money to feed their families. The same cannot be said for women, their main jobs are taking care of the children, not working paid jobs. This means female run households are more likely to experience food insecurity because it is harder for women to find work. There is a similar issue in Asia and South Asia. Women have harder times finding jobs to pay for themselves and their families because there are less educational opportunities for women to learn a craft and make money. Women marry to rely on their husbands in many cultures across Asia and South Asia. They do not work, so if their husband dies or some other situation arises, women find it hard to find jobs to pay for food. Rural areas of America face a similar education issue. The education systems in rural areas are not as well equipped to teach students or prepare them for life after school. It is hard for them to find jobs and most rely on their spouse or their family for food money. The educational, cultural, and legal standards make it harder for women to find work to pay for food. Breaking with tradition: the gender conversation among young people It used to be the case that younger people (those between 16 and 29) were more comfortable with emerging societal developments than older people. Not so, it seems, in the case of today’s younger generation, at least about gender equality. The research shows that a consistent minority of 1/5 to 1/3 of men believe that it’s tougher to be a man than a woman right now, that feminism caused more harm than good, and that Andrew Tate raises important points about threats to male identity. This is in stark contrast to the views of women – both younger and older – who believe it is tougher to be a woman today and that this will remain to be the case for the next 20 or so years. Gender inequality is a big problem in cybersecurity, even preventing women from starting and advancing their careers in the field. That’s according to a new study from the nonprofit Women in Cybersecurity and DEI firm Aleria, which collected data from more than 1,000 employees within 20 organizations. Based on their findings, women working in cybersecurity were two times more likely to face exclusion than male employees. Professional cybersecurity women were also five times more likely than men to say that interference from managers and peers caused their career dissatisfaction and low levels of job performance. Women currently make up just 24% of cybersecurity workers, according to data from Gitnux, an independent market research platform. Aside from the gender gap, the industry has little diversity — only 9% of cybersecurity workers are Black, 8% are Asian and 4% are Latino. Read the full story now at the 🔗 in our bio.
