Yes, hello, I was feeling it in this @sewliberated #stasiadress. This is a dupe of a dress that Instagram kept advertising to me... Almost down to the pattern and color! Fabric is from @joann_stores. I wasn't sure about the style... The past 3ish years have not been kind to my physical/mental health and body image, and it's more fitted than I've been gravitating towards. But the skirt is so fun and swishy, I think I'm finally hitting on the skirt length that I prefer, and it has pockets. PLUS, I hacked it to be double layered in the front bodice, with sewn-in padding, so I don't even have to wear a bra with it. What's not to love?? #MicahPants v1: a wearable sample with flaws. The pockets were too low and it felt like my hands were uncomfortable when I had them in the pockets. It felt unnatural having them that far back, so I moved the pockets forward and raised and angled the pockets. The ties on the pocket felt too overwhelming, but I low key still love them. What do you think? Someone asked what I do with all the muslins and samples I make. If it’s wearable, I wear it or give it away. If not, I’ll cut it up to use the pieces as a muslin/sample for other pieces I draft. I do try to keep the waste as minimal as possible. I have a fun scrap project in mind for 2024 that should use up a big chuck of my scraps. These are my last two Pelican Totes made using the free pattern from @bagstockdesigns, Disney style! The first bag is made from Steamboat Mickey fabric, and I finished it in January 2024. I got the fabric when @purpledragonfabrics offered a pack of mystery fabrics. You picked the type of fabric you wanted (ex: cotton woven) and named a few themes you liked, and they created these packs! The fabrics were all cuts less than a yard, so they couldn’t be sold on their own. I thought it was such a creative way to sell these cute fabrics and inspire some out of the box projects! Swipe to the end to see all the fabrics that came in my mystery box! The Star Wars fabric and coordinate were used for a duffel bag I posted previously. For the Steamboat bag, I used soft and stable from @patternsbyannie for structure and durability, and I interfaced all pieces with SF101. I used Decovil Light to add structure to the handles. I added pockets to the inside to help keep things organized and tabs with a magnetic clasp to close the bag. For the front pocket, I used a super cute zipper pull from @purpledragonfabrics, and I added a label bar from @wawaksewing. For my bags, I often like using a fun surprise fabric for the pocket lining. Check out the third slide to see the pink ombré I used for the Steamboat bag! When I first added the pocket, the bright pink actually showed through the white fabric and zipper! To fix this, I added some white fabric to the top edge of the pocket and extra layers of SF101 interfacing to block the pink from showing through. The second bag is actually the first Pelican Tote I ever made in August 2023! I had barely enough vinyl leftover from making a backpack and purse for the sides of the bag, so I scaled the bag down to the largest possible size that would work, which ended up being 92%. The vinyl is from @purpledragonfabrics, and the cotton fabric is from @joann_stores. The Mickey and Minnie Paris fabric is one of my favorite prints ever, so I love showing it off with this bag! A special thank you to @depuycaitie for helping me pick a pattern & sharing Toni’s story with me🥰 On February 1st, Toni was admitted to the PICU after visiting the pediatrician with some concerning symptoms. Not long after that, she was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She immediately began chemo and was inpatient for 30+ days of induction. Unfortunately leukemia was found in her bone marrow so she has had to undergo frequent lumbar punctures to get chemo directly into her spinal fluid. She was discharged home shortly after her port was placed and has weekly appointments at clinic to continue treatment. Double posting because I have to wish a very happy release day, business anniversary, AND birthday to @lore.piar! 🥳 Here is the PENNY Blouse (View D) in an embroidered seersucker cotton by @joann_stores. 🌼 💙 I’m feeling extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to pattern test for designers like @lore.piar and @michelledesignco (see previous post) who dream up these patterns that I really enjoy making and just want to wear again and again. 🌞 I’ve also been challenging myself lately to embrace the body that I have (and the chest that I certainly do NOT), and I have finally gotten comfortable with a routine Small Bust Adjustment (SBA). Based on my measurements, I could have totally eliminated the dart on this blouse due to the amount of volume I needed to decrease, but I couldn’t do that on such a well tailored top! So I opted to keep a small dart (.25”) and removed 3/8” from the center front. I also raised the neckline .5-1” because I plan to wear this to work on the regular. If you’ve seen me recently, you’ve probably noticed I have been living in my #mdcfreyashirt, and I think I’m going to spend all of summer in this top… Ava is a knit pattern with a faux wrap front and options for cropped, top length, short sleeves, and long sleeves. Simplicity 9800 - View A (3): Made with Disney Villains Sketch Metallic Cotton Fabric. Note on the pattern, the back ruffle can be basted/sewed to the upper edge of back without being gathered. It will give the ruffled look when the elastic is added. When adding elastic, I sewed it onto the fabric with a 1/4 seam on each end, to stay in place before joining front and back pieces together. I love this dress!! This was one of those patterns when it was released, I knew I wanted to make it with something special. The red @libertyfabrics Capel caught my eye and the rest is history.
