PUFFINS! So the most memorable and magical part of our Iceland adventure was the trip to #ingólfshöfði to see puffins with @einarrphotography (our fantastic guide, whose family has owned this island for hundreds of years). This trip blew me away (almost literally) and was one of the coolest vacation experiences I've ever had. Sound is off because it is intensely windy! We woke up at 3am to drive to the meeting spot, take a hay cart ride through a stream and over the causeway, climb up the black sand hill, and wander the cliffs of this breathtaking place. Wow! Iceland does not disappoint. This otherworldly scene is Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon...at 11pm! We were just driving along the Ring Road and you can see this right off the side of the highway. And there were gray seals swimming in it, very close to the shore. The icebergs are spectacular. No filters needed... check out the insane color of the lagoon the next day (around 10am). We were supposed to go kayaking on the lagoon but it was canceled due to high winds (will share a video of the winds in my stories). Safety first...I guess we'll have to come back another time to do the boat trip here! Several movies have shot scenes at this location, including 2 Bond movies and also Game of Thrones. This monolith rises 15 metres out of the sea. It is also a remnant of a volcano. Wrzuciłam tyle zdjęć z Islandii, mimo że to kraina wodospadów i lodowców to tych drugich nie wrzuciłam prawie wcale, zwłaszcza z największego lodowca Jökulsárlón ! Ciekawostką z naszej podróży jest to, że w tym miejscu mieliśmy zdecydowanie najgorszą pogodę, aby wysiąść z samochodu w jakichkolwiek sensownych warunkach czekaliśmy 40min. Deszcz padał zwyczajnie poziomo, był silny wiatr, a także jak widać mgła. A sam lodowiec? Cóż, cieszymy się że widzieliśmy inny, gdy tego w sumie nie widzieliśmy wcale. W miejscu gdzie stoję był kiedyś lodowiec, jeszcze w latach 50, a teraz jest paręnaście kilometrów dalej! Historia tego zdjęcia jest w sumie ciekawa. Mianowicie w każdym możliwym charakterystycznym miejscu będąc w podróży robimy sobie zdjęcie właśnie w takiej pozie. To było kolejne z takich miejsc. Do robienia sobie tam zdjęcia była malutka kolejka a wśród nich były dwie kobiety. Nagle jedna z nich podeszła do nas i powiedziała, że wyglądaliśmy uroczo robiąc sobie to zdjęcie i też nam zrobiła. Kiedy czytałam o Islandii, nie wierzyłam w opisy zmian pogody. Nie wierzyłam tak bardzo jak teraz ludzie nie wierzą mnie, mówią - przecież w Polsce też pogoda się zmienia co chwilę. Ale nie aż tak jak na Islandii, ale to trzeba zobaczyć na własne oczy! Tam pogoda naprawdę z padającego poziomo (i wcale nie przesadzam) deszczu, w niecałe pięć minut zmienia się w bezchmurne niebo i nawet nie wiadomo gdzie są tw chmury. Pierwsze dwa dni były bardzo pochmurne i faktycznie nie widzieliśmy nieba. Ba! Nawet pierwszy raz spotkałam się z czymś takim, że nie jestem w stanie utrzymać aparatu w rękach na tyle stabilnie by zrobić ostre zdjęcie - co idealnie pokazuje druga fotka. Trzecie zdjęcie pokazuje pogodę, która towarzyszyła nam pierwsze dwa dni i było stabilnie, dopiero bardziej przy zachodniej i północnej części Islandii pogoda zmieniała się z mega słonecznej gdzie zjeżdżając z gór wjezdzalismy w chmury! A czasem nachodziła taka mgła, że ledwo było widać maskę samochodu. Raz nawet kiedy jadąc po zmroku do hotelu w gęstej mgle wyobrażałam sobie, że jadę wąwozem, tu się okazało, że dosłownie 2metry dalej mam zbocze i ocean! I zero barierek... kiedy to zobaczyłam nie chciałam już patrzeć na nawigację. Niemniej trzecie zdjęcie zostało zrobione w dzień, jakoś ok 11, a ostatnie dosłownie z 5 minut później... w życiu bym nie wiedziała, że mijam takie widoki! "Take my hand and come with me. " chyba dawno nie odliczałam tak bardzo dni do świąt. Czuję, że mój organizm się w końcu wykończy. Jak nie pracuję długo przy zdjęciach to nie mogę spać, albo jak dziś w nocy leci mi krew, nie mogę usnąć do prawie 3, a teraz czuję, że wygrałabym casting na zombie. Jeszcze tylko 3 dni! A na zdjęciu miejscowość Hőfn. Na Islandii jest "zabawnie" pod względem noclegów. Są miejsca gdzie dla dwóch osób nocleg kosztuje normalne 200zł za noc, a są takie jak Hőfn gdzie noclegi za noc to 700/1000zł i nie ma taniej po prostu nic. Dlaczego? Jest to pierwsza z miejscowości taka "większa" od Reykjaviku i ludzie to wykorzystują, bo dalsza robi już za dużą ilość w km jak na zwiedzanie + jazdę w jeden dzień. Nasza przygoda z Islandią dobiegła końca. Była to nasza podróż z okazji pierwszej rocznicy ślubu, trzeciej rocznicy narzeczeństwa i 10 lat razem. Bawiliśmy się super, mimo że Islandia przywitała nas bardzo złą pogodą, to w sumie poza jednym dniem, kiedy faktycznie ciężko było wyjść z auta, bo było tak zimno, wiało z deszczem padającym po prostu poziomo, było naprawdę ekstra! Zrobiliśmy praktycznie wszystko co zamierzaliśmy, widzieliśmy nawet kilkukrotnie zorzę. Może przedłużylibyśmy pobyt o dwa dni by zobaczyć jeszcze jeden cypel, ale i tak! Worth it! Látrabjarg bird cliffs in the western Iceland. They simply rock! Enough to say they reach up to 440 meteres in height (!), are home to numerous birds species (puffins among them) and are one of the westernmost parts of Europe.
