Jour 6 - Vendredi 8 mars Après une nouvelle nuit dans le même camping que la veille. Nous prenons un des chemins de randonnée de Skaftafell. Ça monte ça monte ! J’avais regardé sur internet et les crampons étaient recommandés. Et nous avons bien fait de les prendre (contrairement à la dernière randonnée de la veille). Certains endroits sont escarpés, et la neige glisse par endroit. Après une ascension d’environ 20-30 minutes nous arrivons devant la belle cascade entourée de basaltes : 📍Svartifoss Après cette randonnée bien matinale nous reprenons la route vers le Parc Naturel de Þingvellir ; ce qui nous permet également d’être plus près de Reykjavík. Nous nous arrêtons voir la cascade d’Öxarárfoss. Et la encore nous sommes éblouis par les merveilles de la nature. Quelques pas et nous voilà partis à recherche de nouvelles sensations, nous montons sans crampons une petite colline enneigée. La peur de tomber est bien présente mais finalement on gère plutôt bien. Après une belle journée encore remplie de souvenir nous décidons de nous poser dans le camping du parc où nous avions eu l’occasion de dormir au début du séjour. In many cases a feeling on your chest I cannot describe. The Foss (Nordic word for waterfall) reminds me the power of water. It always finds a way. Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls... Unless You’re In Iceland! Iceland is jam-packed with so much beauty you could turn an inch in every direction and see something stunning. Her waterfalls are no different. We saw so many beautiful ones - both major and named and minor and whispering - as we drove around the majestic country. Each waterfall has a different profile but they all share being gorgeous. My favorite ones came with a side order of a rainbow. Nature at her absolute best. Fun fact - “foss” means waterfall so when you see “foss” at the end of a word it means the waterfall of... Like mine would be called Staceyfoss if I had one. Which I don’t... unless I drink too much water. The waterfalls pictured here include: Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Þórufoss, Öxarárfoss, Brurafoss, and Faxafoss. What did I learn? When looking for a place to park your car - so you can go look at a waterfall - be sure to put “parking lot” after the waterfall name in Google Maps or you may end up on a private road asking a reindeer for directions. True story right there. Except for the reindeer part. It was more cursing and yelling. But where is Gulfoss on this list? OHHHHH don’t worry, we went to Gullfoss.
