Covered patio update. The patio is cleaned and ready to go! It’s a great place for morning coffee, Bible study or entertaining. In the normal setup, it seats 47 people. There is room to bring additional folding tables and chairs from the garage too. I was listening to the happiest Catbird, just singing away in one of the front bushes, until I heard that familiar THUNK against a back window. It sounded fatal, but as I headed out to investigate I almost stepped right on the victim! I was shocked that the Jay was alive! He sat stunned for well over an hour, but then made it to safety in a tree where he sat another couple hours. I’m finally sharing a few special moments from our wedding ceremony. We were so blessed to have so many close friends help us out. The main one being my dear friend Pam, who has been a Maid of Honour for so many weddings. It shows just how good a friend she is, however I began to realize being a MOH for me was going to be less special as she had done it so many times. So she was promoted to being our officiant and took on the role whole heartedly. How lucky am I to be married by one of my bestest friends? We then had two beautiful friends bless us with a reading in the form of a favourite poem, and then a Shamanic blessing and drumming. It was so peaceful and tranquil (once the sun passed behind the trees lol) to be surrounded by nature and to receive such warm wishes. We knew we could have a gigantic wedding. But it is not always feasible or realistic. Attempting to keep the gathering small was partially because half our backyard is steeply sloped, the other was because we wanted it to more intimate - to be able to visit with those who travelled great distances. We were so touched that so many people took the time to travel from around Alberta, BC, Texas and Europe. It meant the world to us. Finally a toast celebrating our family and union. Of course I had a surprise or two up my sleeve.
