Jack Frost (1997 / 1979) ... Even tho yesterday was an holiday for us, we got started on a little adventure thru the many lives of Jack Frost that we'll be doing all week over on the @schlocklandmarathon. I'm grouping these together cause the old boy probably won't fit in with the rest of the day. Jack Frost '97, an horror entry featuring a serial rude person exacting revenge as a snowman that was a solod rental-era classic, has certainly enjoyed fair coverage on this side. It was time for a proper word. Michael Deak led the team who made the practical snowmen, while Screaming Mad George and co. handled the rest. There's some lovely, budget stuff in there!!! Jack Frost '79 is a Rankin/Bass Christmas special that delivers on the same handmade charm that made their previous specials so very iconic. Jack Frost (1997) ... In the first film, an experimental chemical renders serial rude person Jack Frost a snowman, allowing him to attempt revenge on the town of Snowmonton. The second stop on our tour of the many lives of Jack Frost brings us to horrorville. It's always been funny cause, while it landed on shelves before, it more or less coincided with a family flick of the same name. There was always talk of mischievously swapping rental tapes. In such a case, swift parents accompanying a viewing would realise 51 seconds in that something was wrong. Anyway, this Jack Frost is one of the early 'stunt movies' (films designed to grab based on ludicrous concept alone) and I do consider it, along the lines of its parent Killer Klowns, to be one of the finest ever conceived. I will not use the 'so bad it's good' cliché. The idea of it being a bad movie is as ludicrous as its concept. This is a great movie disguised as a bad movie. While it is a straight-to-video, indie horror affair, Jack Frost ninjas its way past budget limitations with cunning technique and utter charm. Where the budget will not allow, extremely clever shots are employed. This impressively dexterous sleight of hand ensures that we either don't miss what couldn't make it or, at the very least, be entertained in the process. These cats absolutely knew what they were doing. Any accusation of bad filmmaking is a laughable notion. It's cringe only by choice and thus plays organic and free of forced insistance. The horror element is fun. The snowman's ability to melt and rebuild at will is well played with and presents a battery of neat ways to dispatch his victims. The entirety of the presentation carries on with a witty, whimsical bounce that defies any ugliness of situation in the best possible way. A few notable people among its cast, too. Era sweetheart/godsend Shannon Elizabeth makes her film debut getting railed by a snowman and, funnily enough, Ice Lord Nekron himself plays a primary opponent of Jack's and refs 1979, the year of the Rankin/Bass Jack Frost. It's a legit fuggin' joy. Moral of the story: Let your kid try to f*cking poison you from time to time, I guess. ⛄ #jackfrost1997 #jackfrost

If you didn't live in the age when you could switch the two of these 📼 at your local video store you never really lived. Lol jk it was a mean thing to do that was hilarious at the time but we all didn't scar childhoods by the switch. I heard from a friend that worked at my local store and he said they checked for the swap every time checking one of the two out and make sure the right one was there I'm not going to be watching all of my #yeahtheresTHATONEbuttheresalsoTHISONE choices . I watched the Rifftrax of the horror one and I dunno if I wanna watch the family friendly one anytime soon Fun Fact it was originally going to be Clooney in the family film but due to scheduling conflicts he backed out,l. Watching Jack Frost Just going to say it. I love this movie. I remember watching this movie in the 90s when the other Jack Frost with Michael Keaton was released. Before you ask, yes even at our local video rental store also had both Jack Frost movies side by side and we have switched the tapes out just for fun. This Jack Frost is a horror comedy that is hilarious and really entertaining. The killer Jack has the best one liners and the actor who plays as Jack, Scott Macdonald made that character his own. I can’t see anyone else playing that role of the killer Jack Frost. I put Macdonald up on the list with Chucky voice by actor Brad Dourif. Macdonald Jack Frost has a scary but entertaining voice that keeps this movie fun to watch. Can’t have a horror movie without the hero and that role went to the late Christopher Allport who I really enjoyed watching. Also starring Shannon Elizabeth who I had a crush on since watching this movie. She’s best known for American Pie and Thirteen Ghosts. Rest of casting included Eileen Seeley, Stephen Mendel, Rob Labelle and others. Directed by Michael Clooney who also directed the sequel in 2000. Where there is horror, there’s tragedy like the sad story about Christopher Allport who played the sheriff who was killed by an avalanche and covered up by 3 feet of snow with two other men who were up on a mountain at a ski resort. Allport was in the sequel of Jack Frost and there was a plan for a third movie. But since Christopher passed away, chances are slim for that to happen. But I still like to see a third sequel. They could used the idea where the sheriff son has to finish his job by killing Jack Frost again and they could pay tribute to Allport like they did for Brody in Jaws 4. So if you haven’t seen Jack Frost. Once again my daily tee matches my watchlist picks and I'm popping in both Jack Frost flicks. They're getting separate posts though. In this one, a notorious serial killer named Jack Frost is apprehend after a 5yr murder spree, almost by luck by the local Sheriff, Sam Tiler, in the small town of Snowmonton. A week before Christmas, as Jack is being transferred to his execution during a heavy snow storm the van crashes into a truck carrying experimental chemicals, because of course it does! Initially believed to be dead when the chemicals liquify him, they actually genetically alter Jack's DNA, turning him into a living snowman and giving him the ability to change between solid, liquid, and gaseous states at will. Out for revenge against the Sheriff and anyone close to him, Jack goes on a festively murderous rampage around Snowmonton with only Sam and a shady Agent named Manners to stop him. . Hideous! / Jack Frost / Wishmaster (1997) ... FX BY YEAR — Chapter Seven ... The rental side of things was still holding ground too,of course. We've got a couple perennial favourites here. The bodacious little Hideous! is, in my books, one of Full Moon's greatest offerings. Two curio collectors feud over these jar critters, who just kinda want their own shot at livin'. It's budget limited but it does some pretty awesome stuff with what it has. Jacqueline Lovell is throbbin' throughout and heroically does an entire scene in the snow wearing nothing but hotpants and a goriller mask FFS!!! FX by Mark Rappaport and co. NOT to be confused with Michael Keaton family picture of the same name released the following year, Jack Frost is a bogus rental crapfest that's honestly so facking great even tho it has no business being so. It features a murderer turn snowman after experimental goo bonds to him and the snow. That's Shannon Elizabeth getting lanced in the bath. Note that Jack's missing his carrot nose 🤭 The snowman effects were designed by Kenneth J. Hall and overseen by Michael Deak. Wishmaster helmed by FX hero Robert Kurtzman, so ya'd better believe there are some lovely rubber sights to see, including some clever kills that really play with the Djinn/wish concept. Also worth it just to see so many horror icons in one picture. Both KNB EFX and Image Animation International provided practicals for the picture. Kane Hodder provided Dat Beard. Andrew Divoff (awesome) is under all the Djinn stuff. INKTOBER 2023 DAY 20 - FROST This is my fifth year doing Inktober. For day 20, the word is Frost and I drew somewhat of a crossover poster of the two films titled "Jack Frost" released in the late 1990's. The Jack Frost on the left is from the 1997 direct-to-video black comedy slasher film starring Scott MacDonald while the Jack Frost on the right is from the 1998 Christmas fantasy comedy film starring Michael Keaton. 📬📦Mailday📦📬 Some new additions for the collection arrived today. 🎉 Four movies i haven't seen before. Been looking for the Jack Frost movies for a while now. Well since i've seen it here on Instagram. Eventually found a seller nearby. Luckily they're both are region free. He also had the other two and i liked the covers. So another bluray from Arrow Video and one from 88 Films.
