In classic style we played a different team to that advertised! After a tough start to the season, NUCUFC returned to the star-studded stage of jubilee campus sports centre yesterday night to take on Poker soc with the world watching. Pre-match morale was high – club legends Michael Grace and Sarah Greenshield were heading up the ultras, and a smattering of drizzle meant that the conditions were looking perfect for the big game. NUCUFC started off strong, with Ugo Whoba and Jack Bolderstone going agonisingly close in the first 10 minutes; Poker soc responded with their own chances, but some resolute defending from James Pilling, some questionable challenges from Justin Hobson (he wrote this btw), and some heroic saves from Noah Hay kept them at bay. A tense and hotly contested first half ended at 0-0, and NUCUFC were full of hope for a winner in the second. We started the seond half strong with some more good chances, and things were looking like they were swinging in our favour, when tragedy struck 10 minutes in; Poker soc were awarded a penalty from a defensive miscalculation from NUCUFC, and buried it into the bottom left corner. Although we battled out the last 10 minutes, with Ugo Whoba displaying some frankly anti-social skill moves, in the end Poker soc held us at bay, and the game ended with a gutting 1-0 loss. Man of the match went to Ugo Whoba, and honourable mention went to Noah Hay for his impromptu goalie charge into centre mid late on in the game. Back in June 2019 my body was attacked by lying symptoms. I’ll go into more detail another time. Back then, the Lord gave me two scriptures to meditate on and hold on to like a life line. 1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ…and 2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in TRIUMPH in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. Fast forward 3 years to today June 2022 and the VICTORY and TRIUMPH God promised me is coming to pass in my body!!! I never stopped believing that He leads me in TRIUMPH! No matter how many tears I’ve cried or no matter what comes our way, the Lord will lead us in the path of VICTORY! I know life gets hard, heavy and burdensome sometimes but the key to VICTORY is keeping our tear stained eyes on Jesus, our life line and remembering all His benefits! Happy Saturday, all!! With this weekend comes time for me to share an important update! After a year of tumultuous times and nearly 2.5 years of health-battles, how do I begin to piece together words to say I have finally reached the point of WELLNESS?! It is true! I am not just doing well, I have been doing GREAT! Not just a moment here and there, but well overall! I am filled deeply with thankfulness and praise to God through to Jesus Christ alone for this victory! When I don’t have the immediate words, God will often lead me to a hymn. This time, I had not even taken moment to PONDER before the hymn, “Oh Bless the Lord, My Soul” was on my lips! When I say I know hymns well, it doesn’t mean I am well acquainted with each stanza, nor do I know every word by memory. As I read through this very special song, each stanza was more relevant than the last! How could this BE?! Only God. It is taken directly from Psalm 103. My goal of demeanor is praise to the Lord! I will praise Him in the battles, I will praise Him in the wait, and I will praise Him as He is leading me through to this long standing victory! My praise is not contingent on circumstances, for I know not what is to come. I only know my healing is in Jesus and my victory is in Him alone! Celebrate with me!! Jesus is your victory too. Amen!! This morning I was in Psalms and this particular verse really stuck out to me. I love how this verse is SO inclusive- He really does bring victory to ALL who reach out to Him! It doesn't matter who you are- lift your voice to Jesus and ask for help. From wherever you are, He will hear you and meet you there with His presence and victory! A weekend wrapped up in a whirlwind of emotions- waves of calm mixed with anxiety and panic(if you ever compete, you know 😉), physical and mental exhaustion, exhilaration followed by disappointment followed by hysterical laughter, and yet throughout it all- thankfulness. I had an amazing opportunity to compete with the best training partner I could ever ask for @mwalkerchiro and met some extraordinarily awe-inspiring women this weekend. Thankful for @drewwalker428scj delivering us some steak goods and carrot cake for supper in bed when we couldn’t move after day 2😅 My husband @ohioguide and son got up at 3:00 am to travel and watch us on the last day. Thanks to all of our gym and life fam @melhazen @builtbyunity @kstatom @thepriceisjesse etc..for cheering us on back home! Did we not win what Christ has done for us? Did the King of kings not crown us with blessings? Did Jesus not die and rise just for you? He certainly did for all of us, and indeed he did for you in a radically personal way. My brothers and sisters, Every moment, day, week, month, year, and lifetime can be a victory for Christ, but we must surrender everything we have and are to him. Does our God not know what's best for us? Indeed he knows all, but most of the time we don't want to tell him things that are going on in our life. If we give and be all in for God, then we WON🙌

Many a times we think that in a spiritual battle all we need are the gifts of the Holy Spirit. But we forget one very important truth, that gifts are given to us to produce fruit. Love, Peace and Joy are equally important as Prophecies, Tongues, Knowledge. Because where there is Love, there are no demons. Where there is Peace, there is rest and courage. And surely the Joy of the Lord is my strength. So don’t just focus on how many gifts you have but also how much fruit you have produced by those gifts. Even the Armor of God in Ephesians chapter 6 talks about Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Faith, Salvation and Word of God. Ah! A beautiful combination of Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit.
