Day 1 of Primary NEBS Lego Camp was soooo much fun!!! We welcomed our new primary Lego Campers and learnt a bit about each other as we explored ourselves as minifigs. Then it was onto our first Group Lego Build, with our Campers taking on roles as the Build Engineer, Brick Engineer, Brick Supplier and Builder to make the most extravagant rockedt shooting off to space!! After our break, it was onto our Solo Lego Build where Campers had a small box of Lego bricks to create something of their own choice. Today we focussed on a free build to support imagination, creativity, communication, flexible thinking and fine motor skills, before moving on to a build with instructions. Not only are construction based activities great fun but they work on a range of functional skills: - Fine Motor skills- bilateral coordination, dexterity and in hand manipulation, hand strength and grasp (all really important for activities like dressing, feeding, handwriting) - Creativity and Imagination designing and creating their visions - Social and emotional skills through teamwork, sharing, turn taking, working through frustrations and difficulties - Cognitive skills- following instructions, problem solving, planning Creating something with these resources also gives children a great sense of achievement which boosts confidence and self esteem 🤩 Interested in joining our groups?
